Family Freedom Remains Popular Benefit For Home Business Owners

By Jim Mack

Every day, millions of entrepreneurs get up, go to work, and they go no further than their own home. A home business is one of the most popular ventures for those who want to earn money, but also desire the freedom and flexibility that can only be achieved through working at home.

At day’s end, the most important thing that we have is our family. In an effort to spend more time with them, many entrepreneurs set up an office in a spare bedroom or even in the family room. This option is especially beneficial for those who have children and feel the need to be at home with them. Today, many families prefer to live in a suburban or country setting to allow their children the safety of playing outside or riding their bicycles. The problem is these areas are not commonly associated with a large job market, which means a longer commute for those who work away from home. For many, a home business is the answer to living in a safe area, eliminating the need to commute and still maintaining a steady income.

Family freedom is achieved through setting aside important time to share in special moments and always making sure to be there when you are needed. A home business allows for all of these things, but with a twist. It’s still possible to take your little ones to softball practice or pick them up from school, but it’s also possible to earn a full-time living while doing so.

If you work for someone else, what happens if you want to take a vacation? How early do you have to provide your request and what will happen if something later comes up and you need to change the date of your trip? If you’ve already requested a vacation from your employer and that request was approved, what happens to the vacation plans? It’s not always so easy to change plans when you are working on someone else’s time clock. If you want the freedom and flexibility to choose your schedule, arrange family outings and vacations at a time that is convenient for everyone, have the peace of mind to know that plans change and you need to be able to change with them, then a home business is the way to go.

Working at home is not just about being there to clean up little spills, run errands or even picking someone up from school. It’s more than that. It’s about taking care of your children when they are sick and need you. It’s about being there when one of them calls from school and wants to come home because they are hurt. It’s also about being there for the special moments that deserve your presence. Whether it’s your toddler’s first step across the carpet or their first step into kindergarten, these are the moments that shouldn’t be missed and won’t be missed, if you are in control of your own schedule.

Double your Income; Take a Chance with Internet Affiliate Programs

By Steven Gerber

If you want to produce a profitable web site, then affiliate programs are the ideal approach.

Certain affiliates of companies or corporations are looking for help regarding their marketing. The affiliates' money weighs greatly on the commissions taken from the players’ registrations, and most often; these affiliates do not know how to carry this alone. Thus, they need an instructor to get the proper methods in affiliate programs.

This instructor is the internet itself. The affiliates, who study the procedure, simply visit the web sites and search on the programs concerning affiliate marketing. These web sites along with the programs are presenting the various schemes of marketing that the affiliates can apply to boost their lower commissions.

These affiliates expect to widen their knowledge regarding marketing, if they will search the web sites further, and the affiliate marketing programs.

For instance, the use of a banner is the largest element of affiliate marketing programs. Then, the web sites and the affiliate marketing programs will detail everything to the affiliates.

The affiliates can utilize a banner on other web sites to employ traffic to the site of their mother company where they are an affiliate employee. This is the main thing covered by the affiliate marketing programs and sites.

These web sites and programs are stressing the use of banners because it performs a vital function in employing traffic on the sites endorsed by the affiliates.

The assistance of banners in employing traffic is very effective, though this is not the sole scheme to augment the affiliates' commissions. The web sites and programs cannot deny the fact of the success it brings compared to the others.

These affiliates are always searching for possible ways to boost their earnings and turn it into bulk profit, to increase their commissions as affiliates. Likewise, they are also finding ways to learn the strategies in marketing their works as affiliates.

Hence, when these needs occur, they immediately search for the offers on the internet that could help them. This occurrence directly means a profit for the websites and affiliate marketing programs owners.

The affiliates, on their own, utilize these affiliate marketing program web sites as an advantage as they look for guidance in boosting their incomes.

There are numerous ways to boost the affiliates profits; ways that are not entirely familiar for the affiliates. These designed web sites increase their knowledge and help them to grasp a deeper understanding, and with this knowledge, they were able to generate more money.

These programs and web sites instruct the affiliates on various things that are concerned in increasing their profits. Through this, it is not impossible for them to accumulate commissions as gambling affiliates.

These web sites and programs have been a great help in boosting the affiliates status in marketing. Even today, these programs and web sites earn more income as they assist these affiliates into profitable commissions.

It is a give and take process, as the web sites and programs feed the minds of the affiliates about the competent marketing strategies and skillsScience Articles, which later turns into revenues or their commissions. These web sites and programs likewise earn them turnovers.

Why is Content Important?

By Dechen Lau

Content is the soul of a website. Content is comprised of the words or text on a web page along with the graphics and structure of a website. Today Web content is the best tool for building relations with your potential customers. The look and feel of a site is crucial, but quality web content may be more important.

Two of the most popular methods of getting traffic from search engines include PPC – (Pay Per Click), and SEO – (Search Engine Optimization).

PPC:

Pay per click advertising on search engines allows you to choose keywords that you would like your site to appear for, when a search is performed. You decide how much you are willing to pay each time a person clicks on the search results. The more you are willing to pay per click, the higher your site will appear in the results for the keywords you choose. Pay Per Click is advertising provided by the search engine providers (Google, Yahoo! and others) where you PAY for top placement. Their strategies for placement differ slightly. Some search engines will give you higher placement if your ad has a higher click-through rate, (meaning more people click on your ad in ratio to the amount of times your ad appears); others give top positions to the highest bidder.

You already know surveys are excellent for finding out what your target market wants. However, if combined with low cost, quick and dirty Google PPC, surveys can also send many targeted prospects to your site every month.

In either case, you PAY. It is a quick way to be listed in the search engines and a smart way to get your traffic flowing. You could spend far more than is profitable for your business, if you do not know what you are doing.

Search Engines: While crawling pages of a website, search engines look for content more than anything else. Search engines can pick up quality content and it is the only factor that they emphasize and value most while ranking a website. For the benefit of their users, search engines try to find the best and most useful content on the Internet for any given set of keywords.

SEO:

Search engines are extremely competitive (in terms of placement). The major search engines account for over 90% of all traffic. With that though in mind, companies that are serious about earning a share of the internet market should be committed to securing top 10 rankings for the keywords or phrases that pertain to the products and services that they offer.

The best way to ensure a solid return on your website investment is to employ the services of a Search Engine Optimization firm with a proven track record of success, knowledge of current and cutting edge techniques, and experience working with the business community.

There are a lot of companies working ‘behind the scenes’ to help website owners get plenty of traffic from the natural search engine listings. Natural listings mean the search engine has ranked you according to the value it believes your site will offer an individual searching for a specific word or phrase.

Understanding exactly WHAT the search engines want to see when ranking sites requires knowledge of the algorithms. These algorithms change all the time as search engine providers try to outwit the search engine optimizers trying to find loopholes in the ranking system.

Some SEO companies will promise you top spots for a certain cost. Some are honestly creating optimized websites – others may be using techniques that could possibly get your site BANNED from the search engines entirely, (once the search engine catches on). However, optimizing your website for better placement in the search engines is a technique that you should become familiar with and use to your advantage.

Both of these traffic methods have their pros and cons for generating traffic from the search engines. You will find out more about using them properly later on. First, you need to know what REALLY works…

Direct Mail - Getting You Envelope Opened

By Robert Wilkinson

If you use direct mail, it is in your best interest to get as much of it opened and read as possible. You may have spent a small fortune on the copywriting and the expensively printed brochure, but if you do not ensure that as many packs are opened and read as possible, then both copy and brochure are wasted.

There are two main schools of thought on how to avoid being binned. The first is to use disguise, and the second is to use persuasion.

Using disguise is mainly a business-to-business approach, but it works for business to consumer mailings also. Businesses to business promotional mailings are marked out so they do not appear to have been handled individually. This can be indicated by an envelope pre-printed with a postage mark, and the use of a window or address labels to show an address.

Try one or more of the following to give the envelope a more individual look.

Use stamps. They have to have been put on by hand, so it must be individual. There is no more obvious an indicator than a pre-printed stamp impression. When using a preprinted impression in conjunction with a window envelope it practically screams, advertising so do not do it.

Hand write the address on the envelope. This is probably only viable for higher value items and certainly get more attention this way. It does not have to be copperplate; it just needs to look as though it has been handled individually.

Use an unusual material for the envelope, say vellum or a textured paper. In tests conducted by a paper merchant, this alone increased responses significantly. The additional revenue generated by the mailing more than compensated for the additional cost for the special paper.

Again, do anything to make your mailing appear more individual and personal to the recipient. Probably the most important element is the use of stamps. This on its own can be enough to get you under the recipient's radar.

Secondly, use persuasive tactics. This is completely the opposite from disguise and is used mainly for business to consumer, but again it works for business to business too. In this instance, we mark it out specifically as commercial by using advertising images, copy, and headlines on the outside of the envelope itself. In this instance, it does not matter if you use a printed postal impression.

Unlike the previous method, which uses curiosity to get your envelope opened, we need to give the recipient a good reason to open the envelope. This can take a variety of forms, but as a couple of examples you can state a benefit, "Increase sales by 15%", or alternatively provide an incentive, "Reply by the end of the month and get 2 for the price of 1".

Be very clear and very specific about what the contents are going to achieve and remember you are only trying to get the envelope opened and read. Avoid anything vague. Do not expect to appeal to everyone using this method. You do not have that much room on the envelope and you cannot be all things to all people.

I hope you will achieve a strong enough response in a small percentage of recipients that they will open, and read the contents. Your persuasive copy will follow logically on from the envelope copy, and keep your prospect interested.

There is a lot of advice against this in business-to-business direct mail, and there is probably an element of truth in this. If you are mailing to an executive whose mail is screened then its likely good advice. However, there are plenty of owner/managers out there that still open their own mail, if the offer or benefit is clear enough, and of interest to open. You may well consign your mailing piece to the bin for the 99.5% of your prospects by doing this, but it was not about them, was it?

In summary, it is simple. Do not be run of the mill. Step away from the norm and make sure your envelope is overtly commercial with a clear benefit, or incentive, or alternatively make it look personal. If you do this, you are halfway to getting it read and that is more than half the battle.

Myspace Design Features

by David Riewe

Creating a MySpace website may seem overly complicated to those who have never done any HTML design in the past but it is really quite simple. Members who have advanced HTML knowledge can obviously incorporate more advanced features into their design but even those with no HTML knowledge may be able to create an attractive and functional MySpace website. This is possible because much of the design can be done through the use of templates. This article will focus on some of the most basic design features of MySpace to give beginners a basic understanding of the features they can incorporate into a new MySpace website and the types of changes which can be made to an existing website. This article will include information on changing the background, importing images, adding music to the website and posting quizzes for other users.

Adding or Changing the Background

The background color of a MySpace website is very important because it is one of the first things visitors notice when the website loads. If the background is garish and makes the website difficult to read, visitors may exit the page quickly. Conversely if the background is appealing it may make the entire website more appealing.

Basic HTML knowledge is required to add colors or background graphics to a MySpace profile. To add colors or background graphics go to the “Edit profile” section after logging into your account. Next enter the necessary code into the appropriate section. To get the background to appear on your profile you should include the code in the “About me” section of your account. If you are unsure of the code that is needed, there is a wealth of information available online for those who are learning HTML.

Importing Images

Many members of the MySpace community choose to post their picture on their website. Again the social aspects of the online community encourage this action because people who engage in online friendships often want to see what their new friends look like. Including pictures is the easiest way to let others know what you look like.

MySpace members are asked to upload a photo of themselves when they first sign up. This step can be skipped and done later. Photos which are uploaded to MySpace must be .gif or .jpg files. Additionally they must be smaller than 600k. The filename for photos should also not contain spaces or characters other than numbers or letters.

Adding Music to the Website

The addition of music to a MySpace website is a very common practice. This is used both by bands who want to promote their music as well as by individuals who want to let others know what type of music they like. The process of adding music to a MySpace website is incredibly easy. Members can visit the following web address to listen to music from MySpace artists: http://music.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=music. If the artist has granted permission for others to use the music, there will be a button that says “Add” next to the song. Clicking on this link, when you are logged into this account, will automatically add the music to the background of your MySpace website. You are only able to add one song at once to your profile but you can change the music as often as you like by adding a new song. If you already have one song and add another, the second song will replace the original song on your profile.

Posting Quizzes on the Website

Many MySpace members include fun personality quizzes on their website and publish their quiz results. These quizzes give visitors more information about the member. The members may also post a link to this quiz so other members can take the quiz and post their results in the comments page. Different types of personality quizzes can be found on the Internet and many of these quizzes give you the code necessary to add this quiz to your MySpace website or another websites. You can copy and paste the code into the “Interests” section of your MySpace profile.

Choosing The Best System For Managing Your Website Content

By Lynette Chandler

Just when you think you understand the content publishing trend of the day, here comes another one to mess up your plans. If you're frustrated, confused and don't know how to fit everything or if you even should. It's not easy coming up with a web content publishing management strategy. It's something I struggle with from time to time, as well.

I believe it's a personal choice. All these are just different methods of publishing your content. There are some key questions you might want to consider.

What is your audience most predisposed to?

The reason we publish web content is so people will find it, read it, use it, and hopefully generate a sale for your products. It doesn't matter which is the best format but what is best for your audience. Which content format do they respond to most? Are they highly mobile people, always on the road? Do they prefer reading to listening? Are they technically savvy enough to understand how to use an RSS reader? If you don't know, ask them.

You'll naturally have a hodge-podge of answers. Sometimes even after asking, the result is not always clear. Overall, written content still triumphs over multimedia for several reasons. People cannot scan an audio or video file. If they want just one piece of information from that hour-long recording, they are forced to find an hour of their time that they may not be willing to give.

Why are you building that site?

How do you picture your website? For example, if you start a site answering 'questions about coaching' then a Blog would be an ideal type of publishing to use, and you can easily publish the questions and answers. Blogs are perfect for sites like product reviews; launch updates, deal of the day, news and event reporting and FAQ's. You can always use a Blog and articles as a compliment to existing sites.

Other sites, especially those built for educating and dispensing information, would be better off with a regular article based site. While you can use a Blog as a content management tool for your articles, a regular website offers much more control when you're trying to optimize each web page individually. True, you can optimize a Blog, however, overall I find it's easier to optimize a website.

Relevance

This is where a good long look at your overall business helps. Some people build sites in all kinds of niches, from gadgets to babies. Others find their niche and build upon it by creating different sites related to that niche. Example: the main business is coaching. They have one site on coaching FAQ's, one for coaches, one for life and balance articles for a working mother, and so on. If your business is structured like the latter, it's going to be easier for you to figure out which approach you should opt for.

This is because all of these sites are working in tandem to support your main business. It doesn't matter which you use, in the end, the focus is on your business, you are promoting your services no matter where people go and you'll reap the rewards. Each of these sites also becomes a network of content. Doing so also means you could keep only one Blog and use it to direct people to new articles, highlight special articles or alert people about a teleseminar call, kind of like a news hub just for your business. Another nice plus to this is, you don't have to build so many Blogs that you’re unable to keep up with.

An example is this page you're on. Some of you are directed here because I mentioned the article on my Blog. Some of you come here from my newsletter, and some from reading the Blog's RSS feed.

When to pod cast

There are many benefits to pod casting. It can take up an awful lot of time. It's hard work publishing a show every week or every other week for that matter. So, make sure you can commit that kind of time before doing so. That doesn't mean you can't publish audio your Blog when you have an audio to publish.

Many people misunderstand pod casts; they look at it like they see radio and magazine, which are totally different things. Fact is, many pod casts are Blogs and vice versa.

If you think pod casts are just a little too much to handle right now, here's one way you can leverage them without committing yourself to it. Become a guest on someone else's pod cast who’s reaching the same niche as you. Pod cast publishers are always looking for great content and people to interview so, fill their need. Why create your own when you can piggyback?

There are many things to consider, it could go on forever, but given this time slot I'll make it quick and point out a few key areas.

Some sites are just made for Blogs – reviews, FAQs, deals, news and updates.

Look for synergy. I'll usually start off with a regular articles based website. I think you can’t go wrong with it. It's the basis of the Internet and will be for a long time; just like books are still in publication today, it's not going anywhere. However, also try to see if an existing Blog can help drive traffic to this site simply by highlighting articles or mentioning certain things about the content.

Sometimes time itself is of the essence and we just do not have enough of it. If you find this to be true you can still create an influence of a pod cast by being a guest on a show or by contributing recorded segments. You could create an audio of an article that you've already got written so that it doesn't take up much of your time. This could also apply to Blogs. If you find you don't have time to write a Blog, or another Blog, then see if you can be a contributor to a relevant Blog. You could even set up a 'Community Blog' where three or four people will add there posts; so that it is busy without one person having to do all the work.

Evolution Stages of an In Home Business

By Elias Georgi

As a business grows and matures, there are a number of stages that evolve.
Home business operations are no different in this regard, so it is important to understand these stages, prepare for them and avoid disruption to your customers as well as disruption to your revenues. We will review these stages briefly in this article.

A home business, or a business started within a major corporation develop through various stages. You can summarize these as follows - Business Concept, business evaluation, launch preparations and launch, start up and initial operations, and evolution beyond the entrepreneurial stage. Each of these stages is critical and be given the appropriate attention deserved to ensure success. In addition, different skills are required during start up, for example, compared to more mature operations and year over year revenue growth.

A company's life cycle is divided into two major activities. Initially the focus is on start up, securing funding, building initial services and products, and delivering those products and services. The search for customers can be all-consuming. Everyone in the company, whether it is a one-person operation or a company of five, must multitask and do what is necessary to launch and build the initial customer base. The skills required at this stage are more entrepreneurial and imply strong commitment and faith to the concept the company is built around.

Once the company or home business has reached year over year growth cycles and is well on the way to becoming stable and generating revenue, the entrepreneurs typically do not do well in this environment. Hiring professional managers with experience in the areas that your home business has decided to specialize in will ensure continuing success. By this time, your business has grown well beyond a home based business and needs to expand into regular business quarters.

This is also a major step for many businesses and be managed well to maintain excellent customer support to customers and ensure that revenues continue to grow. Entrepreneurs typically love to tinker with the business. Professional managers will focus on the processes and systems needed to ensure success. Most home businesses have also evolved from having several advisors to help them along to deal with a board of directors, especially if there are outside investors involved.

Recognizing these phases and knowing when to begin the transition from one phase to another is part of enabling your home business to evolve into a successful company. Failure to address the issues as you grow Free Reprint Articles, will often severely limit the growth potential of the company over the long term.

To Join or Not to Join an Affiliate Program

By Steven Gerber

Selling is one of the best ways to earn money. Actual selling can be difficult, especially if you need to go to different places, carry your products, and offer it face to face with your customer. Some are even ashamed to do the actual physical selling, because they do not want to face rejection.

Selling, nowadays, is done through physical product selling, and through affiliate programs. Have you heard of that term before? If you are new on the net, it simply means selling a product or service through commission basis. However, this involves online selling, unlike the physical selling that most people dread.

If you have your own website, it is much easier to start an affiliate program. It is an opportunity that you must not ignore. It can offer you a considerable sum of money, if you know what it is all about, and how it works

Here are important things that you should know before you join an affiliate program:

1. There are different types of affiliate programs; including the pay per sale, pay per click, and pay per lead, bounty, and two-tier.

Once a customer buys a particular item, you will be paid a commission by 'pay per sale'.

The 'pay per click' type pays you every time a customer visits the site, and it does not matter if the customer made a purchase or not, however, you will earn more if the customers purchase something. With a PPC type, companies pay at the range of .05 dollars to .15 dollars.

You are paid a one-time fee only for each customer that visits the site; the payment is usually between two dollars to five dollars. If a customer signs an application, you will get the higher yield.

If you refer a customer, you will get a finder's fee. In the future, if the customer makes any purchases, you will no longer receive a commission, and this is called a bounty.

If you make direct sales, you get a commission; and if your sub-affiliates generate sales, you will also obtain a commission out of their sales, this is called two-tiered.

2. The benefits of an affiliate program include: Bringing prospects to visit your site. You will not deal with people such as wholesalers, brokers, customer service, employees, technical support, process orders, warranties, and many more. You do not need to stay on your computer to keep track of the site. You are free to go for a vacation, rest, etc.; and you can do it from anywhere as long as there is an internet connection.

After weighing all these factors, it is time to decide if you will join an affiliate program. Once you decide to join, the company will give you a URL or a link. This links are used to gain access to the company's website.

This will allow the company to monitor your website, and the payment or commission that should be given to you.

How to Create a Virtual Grand Opening

By Donna Gunter

Grand openings are held to generate good will and begin relationships with business colleagues, current clients, and prospective customers. As the owner of a virtual business, you can now foster that same good will by sponsoring a virtual grand opening for your new business or new website and get your new venture in gear. Below are some ideas to spice up your virtual grand opening/ribbon cutting:

Grand openings and ribbon cuttings do not have to be limited to businesses that have retail locations. If your "real estate" is your website and you work out of your home, this great public relations opportunity is available to you also. You will have to plan it a bit differently than someone with a brick and mortal location. A few years ago I attended a "ribbon cutting" for a client's new website and had a great time meeting people all over the country on a teleconference bridge line.

Since I am a few months away from establishing a new website myself, I wondered how to take powerful advantage of this superb promotional opportunity. I made some posts to discussion lists to which I belong. The ideas listed in this article are the results of my information requests.

Here are some ideas to spice up your virtual grand opening/ribbon cutting:

Technology
At a minimum, you will need a teleconference bridge line. My favorite one is Live Free Conferencing, http://freeconferencing.liveoffice.com/, because you can record the call at no extra charge. The bridgeline holds up to 250 callers. The moderator can mute the entire call if needed, and they offer the ability for muted callers to ask a question via their webcontrol panel.

If you would like more interaction with your visitors, you will want to use web conferencing/virtual conference room software. There are a number of these services out there, so I recommend that you do a search, and try a few before deciding on your provider.

If you would like to invite a group of people to your event, you can use an invitation service like Evite.com. You might send out an HTML invitation to your contact list through your email broadcast service such as, aWeber.com, EzineDirector.com, ConstantContact.com, or an audio postcard through a service like AudioAcrobat.com. In order to have your attendees register for this event, you will need to create a contact form on your website that feeds into your shopping cart or autoresponder service.

Event Activities

1. Virtual ribbon cutting. You can do this via a web cam and actually cut a ribbon draped over your monitor that is displaying the home page of your new site and show it via your webinar service/virtual conference room service. Alternatively, you might find an animated graphic of a ribbon cutting and show that via your virtual conference room instead.

2. Have people register for your event and give out door prizes. You can spotlight your business colleagues by requesting door prizes for them. Electronic info products are the easiest door prizes to award. You do not have to mail a physical package to the winner. If some of your door prizes do require mailing, you need to request a mailing address from everyone who registers for your event.

3. Hold a teleseminar during the grand opening that is partially educational and promotional. You can make a special offer to all those who attend the live call.

4. Give a virtual tour of your new website via webinar/virtual conference room software.

5. Host a roundtable session at your event that permits attendees to give a 30-second commercial of their businesses. Schedule this at the end of your event so it does not detract from your offerings.

6. Hold a scavenger hunt on your site during your grand opening. This hunt creates a reason to have people visit the site and visit multiple pages. Create a 3-5 page report or something that is easy to compile that displays your expertise and is of value to your visitor for the prize. You might use rollover images to give clues or find a funny graphic and hide it in various places throughout your site, in obvious and not-so-obvious, locations. You could also place audio snippets around your site as well and put clues in those audio files.

7. Sponsor a message board and/or chat room on your site. At specific times post a series of questions, polls, etc. that will make your visitors interact. Ensure that the questions are relevant and of interest to your target market. This will instantly create popularity for your website, as well as, keywords pertinent to your target market.

8. Give away prizes every hour (or every 10-15 minutes for shorter events), telling your visitors they have to be present in the webinar room/on the teleconference line to win. Between giveaways, talk about your experience, your offerings, and offer free ‘on the spot’ help for a problem faced by your target market.

Online Publicity/Promotion

1. Post the date and time of the opening of your event on CraigsList.com, on the boards for your city/area, and surrounding areas.

2. Send out invitations through Evite or though your email broadcast service.

3. If permitted, post the particulars about your event on various lists/discussion groups to which you belong.

4. Send out press release regarding the event through online press release services.

5. Create a post about your grand opening/ribbon cutting on your blog and invite attendees to post their comments on your blogOffline Marketing1. Join your local Chamber of Commerce and they will offer to hold a ribbon-cutting for you. For virtual/at home businesses, most chambers will do this in their office rather than your home. Many times a photo or article about the ribbon cutting will appear in the local press and in the chamber newsletter.

2. Plan a couple of local talks, and/or book, or product signings to coincide with your grand opening.

3. Send out postcards inviting people to your new website and grand opening. Offer them a free gift for dropping by.

4. Send out press releases to your local media regarding any "in-person" events you sponsor during this grand opening time. Grand openings are held to generate good will and begin relationships with business colleagues, current clients, and prospective customers. Now, as the owner of a virtual business Health Fitness Articles, you can foster the same good will by sponsoring a virtual grand opening for your new business or new website and get your new venture in gear.

List Building: You Need To Get Out There And Do The Split!

By Tellman H. Knudson

Your goal as a marketer is to monetize your site as quickly and as easily as possible. In the process, build your list along the way.

There are all sorts of different ways to think about doing this.

If you are an AdSense publisher, it may be smarter to have AdSense only after people subscribe to your list. In addition, it may be smarter to only show the AdSense after people have told a friend.

Do you see why?

If these people are not on your list, if they are not telling their friends, then you cannot monetize those people again. They visit your site, and then leave, and go to the AdSense ad site, and forget to join your list. If they are on your list, you can monetize them repeatedly with ways that have more impact than AdSense.

Until they subscribe, do not show the AdSense. It may turn people off and they may not join your list. Alternatively, as I said, there are various ways to think about this. Maybe when they subscribe, the AdSense disappears because you already captured their names and addresses for your list, and then you can follow up and make recommendations on products that they would benefit from. Test these!

Perhaps, do an A/B split test, where one page has AdSense and the other does not. See which one works better, and then go with it. However, keep testing. Test your headline; test your subscribe button. You can test all the elements of your page--one test at a time. For instance, do not change your headline and the opt-in button at the same time. You will not know which prompted the viewer to join your list.

Consider the following. When implementing marketing strategies, do not take too much time before you test them. If they do not work, you took a lot of time to think about something, which did not work.

I would recommend that you send out a press release. Do it today, or at least first thing in the morning to drive traffic to your squeeze page, which should lead to your sales letter or the sales letter of the product you are promoting. A press release about your new site will get some traffic.

You also want to use pay-per-click. The reason you want to use pay-per-click is, you can check your conversions and see how everything works before you find list members and everything else. I would use pay-per-click and get rolling with that right away.

Whatever your budget is $5, $10, $100, or $2,000, spend that. You want to go low. You can spend $5 to $10 a day. Focus on split testing and tweaking the squeeze page and the sales page, until it is making money for you on the $10 a day.

The whole thing is... Do not Wait! Take action immediately! Do not let anything stop you. If your squeeze page sucks, you can make changes to it, until it does not suck anymore. Yet, it is out there the whole time, getting some response. If you had nothing working for you, you would be no further in building your list.

Direct Mail - the Deadly Sin of Not Testing

By Robert Wilkinson

If there were one thing to make direct mail a reliable method to drum up new business, it would have to be the ability to test different versions of a pack to achieve a better return on investment. Having processed many mailings over the years, I can attest that clients rarely take full advantage of this feature. In fact, more often than not, clients do not test at all.

Not testing is commercial suicide! In today's competitive climate, if anything can be done to reduce the cost to acquire a customer, then it must be done. It is a no brainer. Research shows that in times of depression, those who continue to advertise are those that do well. It also shows those who continue to advertise also make the efforts to stretch their budget even further.

You decrease your direct mail costs by applying a little commonsense and by testing which will produce the best response. We will look at the example of a direct mail pack that comprises five parts in all.

The parts of the pack are as follows:

1) Envelope
2) Personalized Letter
3) Brochure
4) Leaflet/Order form
5) Business Reply Envelope

Looking at this, you would think that this is it, but we have forgotten the most important part of all:

6) The Data

Now there is enough here to get your message out.

Experience shows the most important part of the mailing is the data. We must test this part. A badly produced but well targeted letter will almost certainly produce a better return than a well-written badly targeted letter.

You may have a particular target audience already decided, for example, lawyers. You will be able to get lists of lawyers from more than one source to be tested. Equally, you will have the option of mailing to a named individual, or to a job title, so you can test that way, also. So far, that is at least four permutations, provided you use two data suppliers. It would be six if you used three suppliers. If you had not narrowed your field to one sector, then the choice of tests to run could be massively increased, but it is not practical to take it to the extreme.

Targeting is everything! You must get that right, and you can only find that out if you test.

Looking at the envelope, you have a huge number of choices available, also. You can send plain with a stamp, or printed with a message. You could make the material from an unusual paper, print in full color, or use different sizes. You could print different designs, or use different taglines and the like.

Depending on how your envelope is made, you may be able to run multiple designs for a minimal charge. The nature of some jobs is they are printed two or three on a sheet, so you will be able to produce equal quantities of more than one design. Even if it is not free, chances are it will not be that expensive for a plate change.

For the letterhead, you can change the material. Studies by paper merchants have shown a 20% increase in response just by changing to a textured paper. The copy itself on the letter can be changed, and offers can be changed. The number of options to test here is almost limitless.

Moving on to the leaflet, the same applies here as indicated for the letterhead. Copy, material, imagery; they are all fair game.

Finally, yet importantly, we move on to the BRE (business reply envelope). The choices here are limited. White or manila envelopes, perhaps, maybe even a coloured BRE. If it is not going to cost a lot, why not try it.

Using these methods over time, you can increase the effectiveness of your mailings. Always test, even when you think you have the perfect pack, continue to run a test campaign against it, even if the difference between the two is really quite small. If you continue to do this, your costs to acquire a customer should decrease and diminish.
Overall, the point is that there is an almost infinitely large and almost limitless opportunity for testing. Maybe, it is this huge scope for testing that puts people off, but I do not think it is. I think it is just a lack of awareness of what you can do. You do not need to complicate things; you can just run two packs with one difference between them and see how it goes.

Whatever you do though, do not commit commercial suicide and fail to test.

Affiliate programs make money, so why not join the force. The internet is just there waiting for interested people who are willing to venture into different business opportunities. If you are capable, and can become an effective affiliate Computer Technology Articles, act now and join.

How to Increase Your Visitor Value with One Simple Action

By Keith Baxter

A common saying in the Internet Marketing community is, 'The money is in the list'.

Unfortunately, that is an inaccurate statement.

The line should read, 'The money is in what you do with that list'.

This all begins with a lead (otherwise known as an opt-in).

When you are building your business, you engage in marketing to entice people to become interested in your product.

These people become leads that either buy from you or do not buy from you.

The ones that do buy from you then become your customers.

While this is not rocket science, we are trying to establish your visitor value at this point.

Let us talk about how to determine your visitor value.

First, we want to know what your conversion rate is for generating a lead.

Do this by taking the number of people that opted into your site and dividing that by the number of unique visitors. For example... if you had 50 opt-ins and 1000 unique visitors, your conversion rate is 5%.

Next, if 10 of these leads (opt-ins) generated $10 each in sales, then you made $100... still with me.

If you made $100 and have 1000 unique visitors, then your visitor value is $.10 per visitor.

You are better off determining this value at the end of each month, as it will change month to month.

However, knowing this number is the key to your ad budget for future lead generation.

Let us move on...

If only 10 people out of the 50 leads became customers, then what do you do with the remaining 40 leads?

It is simple...

You get them to do what they have already done in an effort to boost your visitor value!

Confused? Fear not... all is explained shortly.

If you can get the lead to opt-in to another form, (which they have already been conditioned to do) and are paid on that opt-in, then guess what... you have increased your visitor value from a lead that was not going to convert into a customer.

This is the power of CPA Networks. They give you the opportunity to increase your visitor value by paying you on form submissions. An excellent way to promote a CPA offer is by simply adding it to the end of a follow-up sequence.

In this article, I showed you how the money is not in the list, but in what you do with that list... how to determine your visitor value... and how to increase your visitor value with CPA Networks. My goal is for you to determine your visitor value today, take the simple action of adding a CPA offer to the end of your emails, and enjoy the returns that come with this.

Work At Home Income Leveraging

By Elias Georgi

One of the fundamental choices many new successful home business operators must deal with is how to continue growing their income levels once they have found their way through the initial stages of start up and growth. Expansion of your operations usually involves more space and hiring people to assist in growing their business.

A decision to expand operations cannot be taken lightly. You have been very successful operating your home business out of your home and income has met your expectations, yet you feel there are more opportunities available. These are fundamental decisions every successful entrepreneur must make since it involves more responsibility.

One of the most significant items to consider is the increase in overhead costs; rental of space, additional equipment, additional supplies, and inventory, as well as employees to pay. These are a few of the items to consider as part of your decision to expand your work at home income level.

The increase in sales and revenue must be able to carry these expenses. The first step is to evaluate how much additional revenue must be generated to cover the increased cost. Margin levels may change, so it is important to assess this level as well. Many entrepreneurs fail to ensure there are sufficient levels of margin to cover their expenses and provide them with profit.

Leveraging your business with increased sales is definitely the way to go. With the proper levels of assessment and planning, entrepreneurs will be able to facilitate the success of their initial business to evolve into a large business operation. As you expand, there are items you overlooked that were not factored into the cost of operation.

For example, training of new employees or subcontractors is also considered overhead and missed by many. Training materials, as well as, time to learn the various tasks need to be allocated and paid for. Many employees are there to earn a living, not to build a business. When quitting time comes, they leave their jobs even though there may be customers waiting for service or work piling up. Entrepreneurs who are invested financially and emotionally often have a very difficult time adjusting to these attitudes.

Finally, you may decide to use a bank loan to leverage your business and grow it. Your bank may request income statements and you must be able to show progress financially month over month towards profitability, in addition to paying your loan. Neither the entrepreneur, nor the bank relishes this role as investor; they will sometimes become quite involved in daily operations from a financial perspective.

Managing these types of issues takes more and more time from daily operations and productionFind Article, which also must be accounted for as you expand your home business income levels.

Emotionally Packed Words Will Earn You More Money

By Kurt Mortensen

Word choice in marketing and advertising is critical. When advertisers spend millions of dollars each year, you can bet they have tested every word they are going to use. They want their word choices to lead you psychologically to believe their product is the best, so that it will change your life. Skilled advertisers can get us to absorb their message unconsciously. They might even package an identical product with different words and phrases to reach a wider segment of the public.

Daryl Benn conducted a study on how advertisers use word choice and catch phrases to sell different, but identical in effectiveness, brands of aspirin. Consider the following:

Brand A: proclaims 100 percent pure, claims nothing is stronger. Benn notes that governmental tests also showed no brand was weaker or less effective than others were.

Brand B: Advertises, "Unsurpassed in speed--no other brand works faster." The same governmental tests showed "B" works no faster than others do.

Brand C: declares it used an ingredient "that doctors recommend." Governmental tests revealed that "special ingredient" is nothing more than regular aspirin.

The words we use can hurt others and cause tension and resentment. Words can even cause wars. Humans tend to create and use words that hurt or label. Hitler used labeling and name-calling during his rule in Germany. He called the Jews many negative things, including "vermin", "sludge", "garbage", "lice", "sewage", and "insects." Labels also extend far beyond the names people are given, into the way we describe things in a negative light, such as, "broken home," "single-parent family," or "blended family." Whereas, we think of theses terms as essentially neutral, the words can carry significant negative weight to those people to whom the terms apply.

As you design your persuasive message, you must consider the emotional impact of each word and phrase. When you want to create emotion, choose words that will trigger feelings. If you want to downplay the event or situation, use an unemotional word. Notice the following words generally have the same definition but carry different emotional weight, for example, calling someone "thrifty" versus "cheap," "traditional" versus "old-fashioned," "extroverted" versus "loud," "careful" versus "cowardly," and "eccentric" versus "strange."

Many words are emotionally loaded and represent different values to different people. These words can get people to pay attention and alert them to know what significance the message has for them. It is hard to find a neutral word. Your word choice will paint different pictures for different people because the way we define words based on our belief systems, our experiences, and our social roles. The beliefs we hold about a word will dictate our actions and will dictate how we respond. For example, some cultures view death as a celebration of life; others view death as a tragedy.

Sometimes, if used improperly, positive words can still lead to a negative response. For this reason, persuaders will often avoid certain words, although generally positive, and instead use words that may still bear positive associations, but are more ambiguous. For example, in the world of politics we hear phrases like "freedom of choice," "fiscal responsibility," or "responsible taxation." When politicians use such generalities, people of differing viewpoints can actually both be appeased. They will fill in the blanks and provide their own definitions.

Words can convey emotional color by how long or short they are. Generally, shorter words are more blunt, direct, harsh, or sharp. Consider words like "kick," "hit," "force," "stop," or "no." Longer words, like "lonely," "depressed or "painful" are drawn out to evoke colors of melancholy or suffering.

Advertisers know that changing just one word in their ad can dramatically increase the response rate. One advertiser changed the word "repair" to "fix" and saw a 20 percent increase in response.

There are other words advertisers employ, which are known as "weasel words". These words confuse their audience and do not allow you to put an exact number on the advertiser's claim. They let you justify and believe what you want. They are called "weasel words" because weasels are notorious for breaking into the chicken coop and sucking out the inside of the eggs without breaking the shell. The eggs look fine but in reality are hollow and empty, just like these words. Watch out for these words:

*Helps
*May
*Possibly
*Improved
*Up to
*Almost
*About
*Approximately

Application Questions

Do the words you use trigger a positive or negative response in your prospects?

What weasel words do you use and do these words detract from your message?

What is the one word in your presentation that is taking away from your message?
Launching a new product is often the joy of entrepreneurs. However, many entrepreneurs start this process by shooting their efforts in the foot, then wondering why their ambitions are only limping along.

In order to avoid this common error, entrepreneurs must come to understand a couple of facts that seem very cruel to most egos. One fact is that, at the launch stage, no one cares about your new product but you. The second fact is that you must find a way to change fact number one.

Sure, I know what just popped into your head. You thought, "Well, I will just advertise my product and let the money roll in." That sounds good, but if we could somehow convene a committee of the owners of failed product launches of times past, you would find that they thought the same thing at the beginning of their campaigns. They did just that. And not only did they NOT make money; they lost money they already had in hand.

There must be an educational process implemented at the launch of any product. Just coming out of nowhere and telling consumers to buy your product is rarely successful.

Much like the age old question of which comes first chicken or the egg, there is the question of which comes first advertising or developing consumer’s interest in your product. Many people think these are the same but they aren’t.

When you present information online about a new product you must consider the web surfers patience and tolerance for reading what you have to say about your product. Since there is no distance in cyberspace, web surfers can leave websites very quickly. Bore them and you loose them. Entertain them and they will read every word of your promotional material and be happy to do it. They’ll absorb your product’s info in the process.

The question that remains is how to entertain them long enough to get your product information into their head. Flashy websites won’t do it anymore. They are a dime a dozen in this template-driven Internet age. You must have a hook. Listing your website in entertaining areas of the Internet can be a great way to get your product noticed and appreciated for what it has to offer to consumers.

Lately, companies both large and small have employed this angle in the physical world. Baseball games, football games, basketball games etc. have been inundated by ads and product introductions. Employing these tactics online are a lot less expensive and a lot easier to implement.

There are multiple ways of doing this. One of the most interesting means of introducing a product to the public is to immerse your product introduction into entertaining websites, but even greater than that is to make your introduction documentation itself a part of the entertainment.

Websites allow product launch materials to capture the full attention of prospective buyers by making the introduction materials part of a game the consumer is already playing. Users look for spelling and other errors to report them to the owner. They read every word, catching the full impact of the sales pitch and learn all of the feature intricacies of the product in question.

One of the side benefits of employing this type of technique is the perfection of sales materials. This makes product offers even more appealing to future customers.

Get Your Subscribers to Buy Your Products!

by Benjamin Seow Chu Yan

It is a widely known fact that marketers are always approached for refunds. This is a very usual occurrence in the market. Generally, about 25 to 100% of the customers who purchase your products will ask you for a refund for whatever article they bought from you.

Your customers could ask for refunds on any article for a wide variety of reasons, but the most common requests for refunds usually occur when people want to return something they bought because of the hype surrounding it, but do not think it worthwhile after purchasing. These refund requests cut down on the profits you initially thought you had made. Thus, you should have a way to decrease this return and refund business as much as you can. This is how:

Make sure that you do not surround your products with too much undeserved hype. You will naturally want to talk only about the positive features of the product you are selling and make it seem better than it actually is or in comparison to all other products in the same group. If you make your product seem like it is the next best thing since sliced bread, you are bound to overexcite your customers’ expectations. When it fails to satisfy these expectations, your subscribers will want to return the product and demand a refund. So, it is actually better to state exactly what the advantages of the product you are selling are and not go overboard in trying to make it sound too good. Be clear about your offers and don’t promise effects your product won’t be able to deliver. Only give your customers what you’re sure you can give them. This will increase their faith in your shop and products and increase your goodwill.

If you have a payment processor, when you send confirmation emails to your subscribers, make sure that you clearly state that their credit cards will be billed by your company. If you don’t have one but use a third-party payment processor instead, then ensure that you mention in the confirmation email what name will appear on your customers’ receipts and credit card bills. You could also include this vital information on the download page or thank you page of your website. Since clients do not remember buying anything from the other company, they ask for a refund, and this leads to loss of business. Thus, by being careful, you can reduce the refund requests.

Include a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) page on your website, and deal with the most important issues on this page. People lose business when they fail to reply to all the emails sent by subscribers regarding a purchased product, which makes the client want a refund. Hire an assistant who will handle all the mail and phone calls, so that your subscribers have prompt answers to all their questions regarding uses/features of a product they bought from you. When your customers have their questions answered promptly, they will be much less likely to request a refund.

Define Your Demographics

by Ward Tipton

A new and innovative product can be marketed to literally millions of people almost overnight in the world today. However, if none of those people have any interest in the product, it is still not very likely to sell well. Correctly identifying the demographic target of the market will solve that problem. Once the demographics have been defined, it will be easier to know where and to whom the market will be directed.

There are numerous sites on the internet for sending an advertisement to thousands or even millions of people. Many (or very likely most) people who have tried this know how difficult it is to get any discernible results from this type of campaign. While the ad may indeed go out to thousands or even millions of people, only a very small percentage of those people will ever look at those ads. Even then, the average return rate on random ads is less than one-half percent.

No matter how those odds are stacked, the odds are negligible at best. If the web site is brand new and the only interest is to generate generic traffic that is not likely to return, just to get some numbers, this may be a viable alternative, but for advertising, marketing and becoming successful with a product, it just will not work; at least not most of the time.

If the proper steps have been followed, the product is already under development or has already been completed and is just waiting on the next step to be completed. Either way, there should be a pretty good idea by now who the target audience is. Targeted marketing will always fare better than blind or blanket campaigns that try to cover everybody and everything.

This process may actually take some research and some insight. Many products can be targeted to multiple audiences, all of whom may be very receptive to the product. However, different demographics will respond differently to the actual marketing campaigns. For example; an eighty year old woman who happens to use the same shampoo as a fourteen year old boy is not very likely to respond the same way to an ad that is targeted to the teen. Quite the opposite may happen, actually, and the one customer will be forfeited for the sake of the other.

The idea is to figure out everybody who is going to be using this particular product. Each one of these demographic groups should have their own advertising campaign and marketing in place. By addressing separate markets differently, nobody will be alienated and the list of customers can be expanded rather than narrowed down. It is always better to have too many customers than not enough.

It is important to have as much information as possible about each group that is being targeted. Will the teenagers being targeted all be sports stars or will they be the ones less prevalent and more subtle in their appearances? Will the grandmother figure be an avid outdoors person with an active lifestyle or one who prefers to sit at home knitting while listening to the records she has from her youth?

All of these factors become more and more important as the targeting becomes more specific. Certain people will identify with one thing while it may not even be readily recognizable to someone else. While diversity in advertising is always a good idea, it is not helpful when it isolates more people than it is bringing into the market. By knowing who the target audience is, and knowing specifics about them, they can be more effectively pursued and sales increased accordingly.

As the marketing and advertising are expanded, further markets can be explored. However, at the beginning of any project, your time and resources are usually going to be stretched pretty thin. Concentrating on one market at a time can help alleviate some of the stress involved and provide a quicker return of investment.
Simple Tricks To Sell Your Product

by CW Teo

How can you achieve great sales with your product? In any campaign that you are about to launch, you need to put in efforts to influence the decision-making of your customers and to put them totally in the favor of your company. Well, basically, the whole idea is to play with the psychology of the consumers!

Let's look at some tricks you can use to influence the minds of the consumers. These tricks are useful not only to the ordinary sales person, but also to larger firms.

First, consider using mutual exchange, which is the most powerful trick. You can start off by giving freebies to the customers. Initially, the customer will accept it, but from the next time, he will feel obliged and will try to return the favor. For example, offer your product free initially. If the customer is satisfied with the product, he will pay for it the next time. This principle causes some confusion to some. To be effective, remember that the product should be given totally free without any condition to be fulfilled. For instance, it is definitely against the principle to quote in your sales line, "Spend over $40 and get a free download of an ebook!" The right sales tag should be "Download the ebook absolutely free!" If the ebook is really good and useful, the customer might think of buying other ebooks from your company, and even recommend your site to friends.

The next trick is to present something as if it is of high value, but it should cost only a small amount (or none at all) for the company to produce. An example is that of information. The whole idea is to attract the customer that you are revealing to them a big-time, valuable secret, which is not known to anyone at all. But beware that you do not turn the big secret into another advertisement.

Most customers do not reject free samples. And that's the next tip. Give out free samples to your targeted customers. However, bear in mind you should use good quality products only. Some companies have not been successful in using this tip because they distribute samples of poor quality or even rejected products! The customers have a bad impression of the product and will therefore not buy it.

Catch the customers with words that initiate immediate action. For instance, "One-Time Offer", "Offer While Stock Lasts" and "Last Day Offer", just to name a few. These are really motivating as the customer gets the impression that the offer is valid for a limited period only and the product is of a limited edition. What's next? The customer feels that he should go out and buy it before it is too late.

Another way to increase sales is to trick the customer into making a commitment, step-by-step towards the goal, without realizing it. How can we achieve this? To begin, when a customer requests information, provide him with the relevant details for free and make him fill out a form with his contact information. The content of the form can be getting offers and information about products in the future. A word of caution - no advertisement at this point! Once the customer provides his contact information, then will you start the advertisement about your products and services! A good example is to conduct surveys.

You can increase the sales of your products if you apply these tricks appropriately in your business.

Coaching - I Have Seen The Competition and It Is Me

by Scott Lindsay

Who is your competition? If you’re like every other self-respecting online business owner, you have scoured the Internet locating other sites that sell similar merchandise or services. And, like most businesses, you learn what you can from these sites and make use of what you learn.

Who is your competition? Is it the box store down the street that can sell similar products for less than you can acquire yours? If you’re like most business owners, you seek creative ways to market your product in a manner that accentuates the unique features and qualities that can’t be duplicated in box store purchases.

But who is your competition?

You. You are your own best competition.

As a business owner you need to pay attention to what other businesses do (both online and in brick-and-mortar counterparts). In the end, however, you are in competition with yourself first and foremost.

You may or may not be able to match or beat another business in price, but you can work hard to do better in business this year than you did last.

Think for a minute about all the things that you are doing better at this year than last. Don’t limit your thinking to financial data.

Are you better able to handle administrative duties this year?

Are you establishing new networks between business associates and customers?

Are you implementing new marketing strategies that you didn’t know about last year?

Are you streamlining customer service by developing autoresponders and faster product fulfillment options?

Are you making sure your website remains fresh and inviting in a way that you weren’t able to last year?

Are you more passionate about your business this year than you were last year?

Are you responding to customer requests for certain products and eliminating others that do not sell as well?

I could ask dozens of additional questions, but the point to this exercise is that if you spend more time competing with yourself than with another business, you will most often find greater success.

When you compete against yourself, you are better able to learn what you can from mistakes you’ve made in the past and improve. When you focus too much on what someone else is doing, you are less able to evaluate what mistakes you have made (or are making). In the end, you may not have the ability to be objective about how you are doing as a business because you are spending too much time concentrating on a business you don’t own.

Maybe this is the year you can start a new and healthy competition – with yourself.

Peeking Through the Windows

by Vernon Lee

Peeking through the windows of how software is designed and development can add to your income. With the technology that has evolved today, we all use computer programs that we like. A lot of software developers start from scratch using various computer languages to develop new and exciting software.

There is a lot of freeware that is offered under license for use and free to change as long as you don’t change certain things that are written into the program. "You didn’t start the fire," it was already burning when you arrived at the desired spot to write genuine programs and games for fun or profit.

The software that you use can be enhanced or made better. This is where you fit in. The wheel has already been invented. So why would you try to accomplish building the wheel over again? Why not enhance it? The evolution of the wheel has advanced man into the future so far that we now have cars. In other words, the program or software that you want to create can or may be the idea of someone else. I'm not telling you to steal or infringe on anyone's copyrights or trade secrets. However, once you become proficient in computer programming, why not write your own program to do what your favorite software can do? This process can take a few hours or longer to develop. But once the software is completed, you can market it to increase your income. Your product can be as good as Lager Corporation’s product. Usually the outcome is better than you would expect.

You can also hire someone to write a program specifically for you. This program can be as simple or complex as you desire. Look at the trends of our world today. What’s hot or in demand? Create a new product and promote it.
Peek through the windows, now tell me-- what did you see? You should have seen the inner workings of computers and software programs that you can help evolve into something useful, creative and new.

Product Launching and the Emotional Connection

by Scott Lindsay

A product launch can be extremely easy or it can be complicated beyond expectation.

For example, if you are simply creating a product based on a variation on a non-patented product, it may be fairly easy to launch the product. This is often seen with candy, baked goods and other edible items.

There are numerous companies on the web that revolve around confectionary items including brownies, cookies and candy.

Obviously, there may be other issues you need to address with the preparation of these products, but the actual launch of the product may not require significant research and development.

If your product is distinct and related specifically to an entirely new product you are developing, you may want to spend the time needed to file a patent on something that either does not exist or is an improvement on an existing application. You will also spend significant time (and perhaps finances) in the research and development of your all-new product. This is essential in assuring yourself and your potential consumers that the product is not only new and distinctive, but has been tested to demonstrate quality and longevity.

Perhaps the easiest way to instigate a product launch is by simply infusing an existing product you may have had available in a brick and mortar store into an online business environment. The long-term success of online businesses that were an outgrowth of an existing storefront is encouraging and part of the phenomenon that is known as the World Wide Web.

Everyone wants to rush a product to market. Take, for instance, various cell phones. Each generation of phone provides improved design and new applications. As soon as one company unveils a new design and features, it isn't too long before another company presents something new with similar features and a few new ones.

I suppose it is the nature of business to evaluate the successes of competitors and work to match and exceed the offerings they make available. This dynamic is a driving force in pushing business to new and greater places in both service and product offerings.

One of the advantages of a product that is more organic in nature is that you may find a more individual item that is not easily duplicated and may be more adept at making an emotional impact on consumers.

Let me explain. Hand-crafted or homemade items often have the potential to help us connect with a memorable past while creating positive feelings in the present. It could be something as small as a bag of salt water taffy from a seaside shop that simply reminds you of a trip to the ocean as a child and time spent with dad, mom, grandparents or other cherished family members. It could also be something like a hand-carved walking stick that reminds you of hikes with family or friends. Just the visual cue created by these (or similar) products may remind you of times you enjoy remembering.

Any business that can supply an emotional connection with a product launch will more than likely find steady success in their business endeavors.

A product launch is important in the development of your business. Learn every facet of the product, find ways to describe it and help your audience find a reason to connect with the product on an emotional level.

A Plan to Launch Your Product In 4 Simple Steps

By Melvin Perry

If you look at the online market today, you will be able to observe that there is major competition online. This major competition has motivated internet companies to continue coming out with new and innovative products in order to have an edge on the competition. This is the main reason of their sustained success amongst a competitive market. That is why having a product launch plan is very important for online success. Here are four easy ways to get started with a successful product launch plan.

When you create a product launch plan, it is very important that you have an understanding of your target market. If you release a product amongst an audience that has no interest in your product, then your product launch plan was a tragic failure. Therefore, you must really know your target audience before you come up with a product launch plan. Also, it is important that you launch your product during a time when there is maximum demand for your product in the market.

With a good product launch plan, it is necessary that you market and presell your product before the actual launch date. During this time, you must use as many methods of advertising as you can to get your message out. The internet has turned out to be the perfect medium for pre-launching successful product releases. Just put ads to your product on high-traffic websites that are closely related to your target market. Remember, a successful product launch plan always takes into account the target audience that it is marketing to.

You should always include attractive bonus offers with your product when you begin to come up with your product launch plan. Including bonuses and alluring offers with your product will improve the success and earnings gained from the launch. Another proven product launch plan is to keep the price low initially during the launch, then raise the price to normal after a few days.

The 5 Key Factors To Consider Before Launching A Product, Service or Idea

by Robin D Haywood

Locating the right products to sell online or off-line, one must clearly understand what people want to purchase. The right choice of product, service or idea followed by the demand in the current market and the competition or market share determines the product, service or idea's longevity in the market.

"What should I sell? What products are best-sellers?" Many people ask these questions and many are trying to find an answer so they can make an informed, intelligent decision. If one truly wants to know the answer to these questions, research is the way to find it.

There are all kinds of triggers and false evidence along the trail to mislead one into thinking they have an idea that is in high-demand. Understand this; a product, service or idea must satisfy the needs, wants and expectations of the customers or it will be a flop.

There are five basic key factors to consider before launching a product, service or idea; the need, want and expectation key factor, the competition key factor, the interest key factor, the advertising key factor and the analysis key factor. Let us get started, shall we?

Need is the fundamental question consumers ask themselves before each purchase. Another name for Need is the "qualifier or gatekeeper" factor in a purchase. Want is the next question a consumer will ask, also known as the "determiner" factor in the decision-making process. Expectation pulls both the need and want together to determine its value or worth to the consumer. Expectations and wants are closely related and are invaluable when products, services and ideas are similar.

Following the basic demand concept will clear the path to understanding the importance of use, language, understandability and affordable pricing. These ideas are applicable to Internet Marketing, Teleseminars, Webinars, Blogs, Pod casts and the list goes on.

The internet is no longer just a way to keep in touch, but a tool, when used properly, that will change the way businesses advertise. The demand concepts are basic and equally important to online and off-line marketing.

The second key factor to consider when searching for a product to sell is competition or market shares. Competition level or shares in the market mean the ratio of the brand sales versus the market sales. Consumers decide the competitive frame when exercising their power to buy, while companies define its target competitors.

Therefore, choosing the right segment of the market where one can have a leadership or competitive stance is critical. The objective of business is not just to satisfy the needs and wants of the consumer but to profit as well. Otherwise, the competition will satisfy the needs and wants of the customer.

The third key factor consideration when searching for the right product, service or idea to sell is the level of interest. Interest paints the whole picture and determines where the demand and competition numbers will fall. Simply put; no demand, no competition and no profits. The research must continue in order to find the right product to sell.

The fourth key factor consideration is advertising. Learning how others are advertising the product will help determine if a product, service or idea is marketable. If there are a good number of similar products in the market, this is possibly a good match.

The final key factor consideration in the process is analyzing and evaluating the data collected. Now, weigh all the key factors and determine marketability of a product, service or idea.

Summary of the key factors:

(a) Enough demand, enough purchasers

(b) Not too much competition, enough profits to share

(c) Not too much advertising keeps down the price and competition

(d) Enough interest, combined with high demand, means good market share

Instant Success

by Ward Tipton

Instant Noodles are probably one of the greatest inventions of all times. The strange thing is that they really are not instant and really are not a new invention. They are just the same old noodles in a new package and marketed a little differently.

There has to be a lesson to be learned when this product is given a closer inspection. Here is something (the noodle) that is hundreds, maybe even thousands of years old. Yet it is now one of the most profitable food niche markets in existence today. Whether it is ramen, canton, bihon, pancit or whatever name it is known by locally, the concept is actually very amazing.

Anyone can purchase these same noodles for much cheaper if they buy them in bulk; bulk in this case being buying them by the kilo or by the pound. Throw in a little bouillon cube and voila, instant success.

So what is the lesson to be learned here from this marketing wonder? Is it that everybody needs to find a product that is hundreds or thousands of years old? That is hardly the case. The whole point is that anything can be sold and profited on if it is packaged correctly.

Who was the first one who packaged the noodles in portions that were suitable for one person? While nobody may know their name, it is certain that it could be looked up. Either way, if they patented the idea, there is a strong chance that they are not among the working-class people anymore.

Somebody once said that everything worth being invented has already been invented. This is probably not the case either. The sad fact of the matter is that most people will not ever come up with a patentable idea that will allow them to retire in the lap of luxury.

The whole idea behind marketing; whether it is marketing an idea, a product or information on the internet, or providing something tangible in a store; the concept is the same. Marketing and recognizable packaging has a lot to do with it, but it is mostly in the presentation.

These people offered nothing at all that was new. They repackaged it and advertised it as a convenience. Given the hectic pace in the world today, that concept is what sold the product. They knew what buttons to push to get people to buy.

It can be said that not everybody is going to have a life-changing idea or concept. That does not mean that they cannot get rich with the proper marketing. Finding a product that can be sold is an important factor. Creating a need or a desire is as important to success as is creating a sense of urgency to have that one product in particular. Closing the deal is easy when everything is packaged and presented properly. Making sure that the product is easily recognizable will generate return business, but that is another article.

Internet Banner Advertising Secrets

by Mark A. Abrahams

When the internet started, banner advertising was one of
the most popular ways to advertise. However, once this kind
of advertising became popular, it dramatically reduced its
effect. People became blind towards banner ads and click through rates become as low as 0.5%. However, many top
internet marketers still use banner advertising as one of
their top-producing strategies. You will reap the rewards
with internet banner advertising once you know how to apply
the correct marketing strategies.

One of the most challenging aspects of banner advertising is to
get people to actually click on your banner. With all the
banners looking like adverts, people have become oblivious
to this. Design your banner so it doesn't look like an
advert. Make the background white, because this makes it
blend in and look like content. Then, use blue text to
denote the advertisement. People are conditioned by using
the internet to associate blue with a hyperlink and this
will make them click on it. Use a good attention-grabbing
headline, for example; "How To Lose 30 Pounds In 20 Days".

Once you have created your banner, you need to find good
places on the internet to advertise. I suggest you look for
websites related to yours and then contact the owners
directly. Use your negotiating skills to try to lower the
advertising rate until you are satisfied that you have a good deal.

Also, try to get at least a 30 day trial to test the effectiveness of the internet banner advertising on that peticular site before you enter into a long term contract.

You will also need to create an appropriate landing page for your banner advertisement. This could be in the form of a
squeeze page. I would strongly suggest that you do not send
your visitor to a sales page as a visitor usually needs to
see your offer at least 7 times before they will consider
buying.

Follow these internet banner advertising tips and you will
find that you can produce substantially more traffic to
your website as well as increase your profits.

Would you like to know more about the traffic techniques have helped me to drive thousands of visitors to my website? I have just completed my new guide.

Banner Economics

by Tim Yu

Business online-- like business offline-- always boils down to math: the difference between cost and revenue. If your banner campaign is costing more than it’s earning, you won’t be in business for very long. To figure out how your campaign is doing, you’re going to need to know your Cost Per Mille, your Click Through Rate and your Conversion Rate. These are your basic tools. If you don’t know them, find out!

Let’s say your CPM is $20, your CTR is 1%, and your Conversion Rate is 4%. (So you’re paying $20 every 1,000 times your banner is shown, it brings you 10 new users, and you make one sale for every 25 users the ad brings). The question you need to ask yourself is how much are you wasting on the 24 users who don’t buy.

Cost per visitor = $20 / 10 = $2 So each visitor costs you $2, but you need 25 visitors to make one sale, so...

Cost per sale = $2 * 25 = $50	...if your product is worth less than $50, you’re taking a loss.

That’s pretty simple, and as you can see, there’s not a lot of room to maneuver here. Margins are tight on banner advertising, and that applies to both the site selling the advertising space and the webmaster buying it.

Of course, hard cash isn’t the only way to measure the success of a banner ad, and one reason they’re still popular is that they’re a pretty effective branding tool. After all, advertisers spend millions on billboards without expecting motorists to drive straight through them and make a purchase! On the Web, those advertisers can even be reasonably sure that the people who see their ads will be interested in them. But branding costs money—lots of it—with no guarantee of results. It’s usually best left to the big boys.

The banner ads on my sites usually send users to my affiliate partners, and the banner ads I place on other people’s sites usually come from my affiliate programs. They don’t cost me anything and as long I’m making the sales to pay my affiliate partners, everybody’s happy.

If you do decide to purchase banner advertisements though, and if you have a very specific market in mind, make sure they are strategically placed—on sites where the traffic will most definitely be interested in your product or service. Find a site that suits exactly your specific product and you’re going to be appealing directly to your target market.

InfoPreneur Secrets - LEVERAGE The Resources Of Others For Explosive Wealth

by James Penn

This is one article in the series of "InfoPreneur Secrets" which discusses tips, tricks, techniques and secrets to be a successful info product creator and marketer. This article will discuss the importance of leveraging the resources of others to literally explode your sales without much additional effort on your part.

Let me ask you a question:

What’s better than ONLY YOU promoting your product and generating sales for your info product?

Answer: Hundreds, even thousands, of marketers marketing your product FOR YOU for free!

Let us look at one of the most successful internet marketing products ever, ‘The Rich Jerk’. This is the ultimate example of a marketer effectively leveraging the resources of others.

I bet ‘The Rich Jerk’ himself doesn’t make a whole lot of sales, but he has thousands of affiliates promoting HIS products for HIM in exchange for a percentage of the sale. It’s the perfect business model for both the affiliate and the vendor.

The affiliate gets money without having to create a product. The vendor makes sales of his product that he wouldn’t otherwise have made.

The Rich Jerk is one of the must sold internet marketing info products simply because he has a huge affiliate force.

I’d rather have one thousand affiliates promoting my product passively than just have me marketing my own product aggressively.

You are limited in what you can achieve on your own. Remember that. But with the help of others, you can accelerate your internet marketing efforts by LEVERAGING the resources of others.

InfoPreneur Secrets - How To Persuade People To JV With You

by James Penn

This is one article in the series of InfoPreneur Secrets which discusses tips, tricks, techniques and secrets to be a successful info product creator and marketer. This article will discuss how to effectively persuade authorities in your niche to joint venture with you in promotion of your info product.

Joint ventures are powerful things. They enable you to leverage the resources of other people to generate profits for yourself. What a great business model! Other people promote your products, you keep half of the money.

Here are some tips to get people to JV with you:

*	First contact – The first time you contact a potential JV partner should not be asking for them to promote your product. You first need to build a relationship with them. Your first email could either introduce you and your business, or it could offer your potential partner assistance. Offer to write some articles for them or to help them with any tasks they don’t want to do. If you help them initially, they’ll be more likely to promote your product later on.

*	Personalize your JV email – Once you feel you are ready to contact a potential partner, make sure the email you send is personalized. Refer to their websites and their activities. Use their name throughout the email.

*	Create an offer too good to refuse – Make an offer to your potential JV partner so good they won’t be able to refuse it. You could offer them some unique articles if they promote, you could offer them an increased affiliate commission, you could offer them a reciprocal mailing (i.e. you promote one of their products to your list).

Approaching JV partners is an art form. It’s impossible for me to sum up everything in this short article, but hopefully it will help you when you approach your next (or first) JV partner.

Online Classifieds: An Effective Advertising Tool For Sellers

by Jeni Dalton

The internet is growing at a very fast rate and millions of people access the internet every day from their homes and their offices. It has become a medium to communicate, to entertain and to do business. If you are internet savvy, then you come across all these things while browsing online. The best thing about the internet is that you can use it from anywhere in the world, it’s a global network of computers combined together to form a matrix.

The internet is very useful for shopping online. With just a few clicks, you can buy anything from anywhere in the world. Advertisements in the form of classifieds are all over the internet, and all you have to do is search and purchase the product you desire. Online Classifieds are replacing all kinds of advertising methods on the internet. Nowadays, it’s very simple to sell your products. All you have to do is compile a few details about your product and its benefits. Visit the top classifieds websites such as MirzasList.com and post your classifieds for free. You don’t have to pay a single penny while doing this. In the past, advertising your products meant a visit to the nearest newspaper. Now, in the new "e-age", websites have completely eliminated the need to leave your home just to place your ad. People visit popular classifieds websites to purchase or sell anything and the deal can be closed within minutes.

Online classifieds have done wonders in selling almost everything from real estate to insurance. Newspapers are also moving towards the world of online commerce so they can compete with these kinds of free classifieds websites. In the future, almost every newspaper in the world will have to be online to survive in the advertising field. These days, people don’t have time to sit for hours and read newspapers, whether for the purpose is to check out the current local news or to browse the classifieds ads. Why? Because on the internet, whatever you want is only a few clicks away.

Classifieds are a very effective method to attract buyers and can be presented in many different manners. They allow people to go in-depth in their descriptions of products and this allows buyers to make a better-educated decision. If you are a good seller, then you know how well a descriptive and detailed classified can attract your customers to purchase or buy your product. Start selling your products online and see the difference between the present internet market and the outside world.

Pixel Advertising - How It Could Make A Comeback

by Brad Martindale

In 2005, The MillionDollarHomepage (MDH) made internet history by selling one million pixels for one dollar per pixel, generating a whopping one million dollars for its owner. Now, almost 2 years and thousands of copy-cat sites later, pixel advertising is all but dead. This writer believes that with the proper implementation, pixel advertising could rise again.

The MDH was a brilliant idea and, while it served its purpose, had several flaws that prevented it from thriving after the million pixels were sold. In case the reader isn't familiar with the MDH, I'll provide some basic history. MDH had a 1 megapixel image on its homepage and it sold 10 X 10 pixel blocks of this image for people to advertise on, which would link to their websites when clicked. They could not change the image and were limited as to what details people would see when they moved their mouse over the micro-ad. It sold these 10 X 10 blocks (100 pixels) for one dollar a pixel (the minimum purchase was 100 dollars). All one million pixels sold in just over 4 months (give or take). The site was getting an insane amount of traffic, so advertisers were chomping at the bit to get their ad on the website. Some of the space even went up on eBay towards the end for much more than the original price.

The problem with MDH was the price was too high (relatively speaking) and most ads were really too small to see. It was really by the luck of the draw or how flashy your 10 X 10 image was whether your ad got clicked or not. As the dust settled, the advertisers on MDH realized that people were really only coming to the webpage to see if it was filling up and what click traffic they were receiving from the site was "trash" traffic. The copy-cat sites that emerged only compounded the problem by trying to exploit what MDH had already done wrong. A very negative tone echoed throughout the web about micro-advertising and the "fad" has died out over the last 12 months or so. Don't get me wrong, this was obviously a good idea since MDH did achieve its goal. It could have been so much more, though.

So how can pixel advertising make a comeback? The same idea as the original site can still be applied, but something has to be done to keep visitors coming back for more. Advertisers will no longer pay the one dollar per pixel price for such small, unnoticeable ads, so the price must be lowered. Advertisers also need other incentives to advertise on the site. Advertisers need to be able to change their ads when they want. The system needs to be fully automated. The ads need to be accessible in ways other than just having the ad displayed on a grid. There needs to be more space available to advertise on but not so much that it becomes a commodity. And finally, the site must be promoted. A good site will just sit there without the proper promotion, regardless of how unique and innovative it is.

These few small changes could really turn a good idea into a great idea and breathe new life into the pixel advertising industry. It seems so simple, yet no one has been able to effectively put all of these elements in place since the MDH. I think there is still a place out there for pixel advertising. Only time will tell if anyone can pull it off.

Brad Martindale is the founder of Pixdle.com, the world's first billion pixel advertising site based in San Antonio, Texas USA. Established in 2007, he has taken the pixel advertising industry by storm with his unique combined implementation of traditional pixel advertising and search engine techniques.
Tips on Encouraging Forum Conversation

by CD Mohatta

There are many effective little techniques that encourage forum posting. One of the tricks that helps to encourage forum conversation is to end some of your posts with leading questions. "What do you think?" "How do you do it?" "Does anyone know how to ____?" Questions give an easy opening for the next person to post, just as they help foster conversation in real life.

If you start a new thread, it often is more successful if your first post is short and asks a question, as opposed to being several paragraphs in length that cover a topic more thoroughly. This is kind of surprising because you might have thought a longer post would be more intriguing, but try it and see! You'll notice a difference. So, even if you've thought about a topic a lot, try not to say much in the first post. This lets other people be "experts" too, and they will enjoy the conversation.

In writing classes they often teach you to write strong. Strong writing is well thought out, authoritative, doesn't use the word "I," has good grammar, spelling, and punctuation. But on a forum, it can intimidate others so that they won't post. If instead you say, "I think," "Gosh, how do you spell that?", include personal stuff, and so forth, it makes the writing less formal and more like you're sitting across the cafe table from an old friend! This makes others comfortable so they are more likely to open up.

Compliments about what someone posted before you also helps many of the readers to be comfortable posting because they interpret it as a friendly, gentle place. Whether face to face or online, other people will like it when they receive positive comments or are asked questions. It simply makes people feel like they are being listened to, and we all like that!

Timing is also important in encouraging good conversation on a forum. It's better to post two or three responses at a time every three or four hours, than to sit down once each evening to post because it keeps the forum fresh and people get the feeling someone is always there for them to talk to. If they check in an hour or two after they posted and they see responses, well, of course they'll be more likely to get involved in the forum than if they have to wait a day for a response.

Social network users, visit http://www.wishafriend.com/ac/holidays/christmas/ for Christmas MySpace comments. You can also find Christmas MySpace graphics at http://www.wishafriend.com/graphics/holidays/christmas/, and find Christmas Layouts at http://www.wishafriend.com/layouts/christmas/ to add to your profile.

Web 3.0 - The Future is Here

by Sherwin F Shao

What is this mystical thing called Web 3.0 that everybody is waiting for? It's like the silhouette of a stranger through the dense fog. Man or Monster? Friend or Foe? That is the nature of predicting the future. From afar, everything looks good. From up close, it's a mess. The good news is we can affect the future, the future is not some inevitable result assigned to us.

What will Web 3.0 look like? Let's start with how the web has evolved and go from there.

What happened?

In the old days, you really needed to read a whole book to get all the nuggets of knowledge from an author. With search engines, you can get to what you need faster and faster. So more people can now publish more ideas. Referred to as Web 1.0, static websites have sprung from every corner of the world.

Fast forward to today. The core of Web 2.0 is the latest generation of user-contributed content.

The unit of communication has shrunk dramatically. Instead of publishing a book or article, we can publish a simple blog. Just a few words and we're done.

The speed of publishing has increased dramatically. It's now lightening fast, from the author's very first thought to the moment the reader understands it.

Multi-user collaboration has become massively parallel. Forums, chats-- people are communicating everywhere.

With Web 2.0 applications, anyone can easily set up a blog or a shop on eBay. Or even join the major Web 2.0 sites like Wikipedia, Facebook, and Digg. These sites provide dynamic user-contributed content. People now flock to Web 2.0 sites because they can find any idea, or any community.

What's Missing?

So if things are so good, what's wrong?

Well, Google often returns a whole bunch of garbage, because it can't read our minds. That's because search terms aren't expressive enough. Search terms are not sufficient to provide your meaning, your context. There are billions of pages out there now, with text that can only be understood after being read by humans. So with search results, we must wade through pages and pages before we get what we're looking for.

So to solve this problem, why not make these billions of pages contain the meaning, not just the words? Why not create an engine that understands your meaning, instead of just today's simple search terms? Will that work?

What's Not Happening?

Web 3.0 has been touted as the savior. So what is it?

It's been 6 years since the prediction of the Semantic Web evolution, with RDF, OWL, SPARQL, RIF, metawebs, and ontologies. It's a deep mess. You have to be either crazy or a genius to figure that stuff out. Another faction has Web 3.0 pegged as becoming a service, somehow transforming unstructured information into structured information. Somehow, if machines talk to each other more effectively, people can access the right information quicker. That's wishful thinking.

Why will this grand vision of Web 3.0 involving intelligent machines never happen? Because humans will never be surpassed by machines in judgmental intelligence. To be interested in certain things-- that is a uniquely human trait. To belong to groups-- that is another human trait. Because a machine-generated solution, regardless of how advanced, cannot replace humans. In the end, only humans can help other humans.

What's Next?

Web 3.0 is about ideas and knowledge. It's not about shopping or entertainment. Technology-wise, we're ready for the next generation of the web, the real Web 3.0. We have everything we need to create that vision. Let me describ
