Get Your Subscribers to Buy Your Products!

by Benjamin Seow Chu Yan

It is a widely known fact that marketers are always approached for refunds. This is a very usual occurrence in the market. Generally, about 25 to 100% of the customers who purchase your products will ask you for a refund for whatever article they bought from you.

Your customers could ask for refunds on any article for a wide variety of reasons, but the most common requests for refunds usually occur when people want to return something they bought because of the hype surrounding it, but do not think it worthwhile after purchasing. These refund requests cut down on the profits you initially thought you had made. Thus, you should have a way to decrease this return and refund business as much as you can. This is how:

Make sure that you do not surround your products with too much undeserved hype. You will naturally want to talk only about the positive features of the product you are selling and make it seem better than it actually is or in comparison to all other products in the same group. If you make your product seem like it is the next best thing since sliced bread, you are bound to overexcite your customers’ expectations. When it fails to satisfy these expectations, your subscribers will want to return the product and demand a refund. So, it is actually better to state exactly what the advantages of the product you are selling are and not go overboard in trying to make it sound too good. Be clear about your offers and don’t promise effects your product won’t be able to deliver. Only give your customers what you’re sure you can give them. This will increase their faith in your shop and products and increase your goodwill.

If you have a payment processor, when you send confirmation emails to your subscribers, make sure that you clearly state that their credit cards will be billed by your company. If you don’t have one but use a third-party payment processor instead, then ensure that you mention in the confirmation email what name will appear on your customers’ receipts and credit card bills. You could also include this vital information on the download page or thank you page of your website. Since clients do not remember buying anything from the other company, they ask for a refund, and this leads to loss of business. Thus, by being careful, you can reduce the refund requests.

Include a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) page on your website, and deal with the most important issues on this page. People lose business when they fail to reply to all the emails sent by subscribers regarding a purchased product, which makes the client want a refund. Hire an assistant who will handle all the mail and phone calls, so that your subscribers have prompt answers to all their questions regarding uses/features of a product they bought from you. When your customers have their questions answered promptly, they will be much less likely to request a refund.

Simple Tricks To Sell Your Product

by CW Teo

How can you achieve great sales with your product? In any campaign that you are about to launch, you need to put in efforts to influence the decision-making of your customers and to put them totally in the favor of your company. Well, basically, the whole idea is to play with the psychology of the consumers!

Let's look at some tricks you can use to influence the minds of the consumers. These tricks are useful not only to the ordinary sales person, but also to larger firms.

First, consider using mutual exchange, which is the most powerful trick. You can start off by giving freebies to the customers. Initially, the customer will accept it, but from the next time, he will feel obliged and will try to return the favor. For example, offer your product free initially. If the customer is satisfied with the product, he will pay for it the next time. This principle causes some confusion to some. To be effective, remember that the product should be given totally free without any condition to be fulfilled. For instance, it is definitely against the principle to quote in your sales line, "Spend over $40 and get a free download of an ebook!" The right sales tag should be "Download the ebook absolutely free!" If the ebook is really good and useful, the customer might think of buying other ebooks from your company, and even recommend your site to friends.

The next trick is to present something as if it is of high value, but it should cost only a small amount (or none at all) for the company to produce. An example is that of information. The whole idea is to attract the customer that you are revealing to them a big-time, valuable secret, which is not known to anyone at all. But beware that you do not turn the big secret into another advertisement.

Most customers do not reject free samples. And that's the next tip. Give out free samples to your targeted customers. However, bear in mind you should use good quality products only. Some companies have not been successful in using this tip because they distribute samples of poor quality or even rejected products! The customers have a bad impression of the product and will therefore not buy it.

Catch the customers with words that initiate immediate action. For instance, "One-Time Offer", "Offer While Stock Lasts" and "Last Day Offer", just to name a few. These are really motivating as the customer gets the impression that the offer is valid for a limited period only and the product is of a limited edition. What's next? The customer feels that he should go out and buy it before it is too late.

Another way to increase sales is to trick the customer into making a commitment, step-by-step towards the goal, without realizing it. How can we achieve this? To begin, when a customer requests information, provide him with the relevant details for free and make him fill out a form with his contact information. The content of the form can be getting offers and information about products in the future. A word of caution - no advertisement at this point! Once the customer provides his contact information, then will you start the advertisement about your products and services! A good example is to conduct surveys.

You can increase the sales of your products if you apply these tricks appropriately in your business.

Product Launching and the Emotional Connection

by Scott Lindsay

A product launch can be extremely easy or it can be complicated beyond expectation.

For example, if you are simply creating a product based on a variation on a non-patented product, it may be fairly easy to launch the product. This is often seen with candy, baked goods and other edible items.

There are numerous companies on the web that revolve around confectionary items including brownies, cookies and candy.

Obviously, there may be other issues you need to address with the preparation of these products, but the actual launch of the product may not require significant research and development.

If your product is distinct and related specifically to an entirely new product you are developing, you may want to spend the time needed to file a patent on something that either does not exist or is an improvement on an existing application. You will also spend significant time (and perhaps finances) in the research and development of your all-new product. This is essential in assuring yourself and your potential consumers that the product is not only new and distinctive, but has been tested to demonstrate quality and longevity.

Perhaps the easiest way to instigate a product launch is by simply infusing an existing product you may have had available in a brick and mortar store into an online business environment. The long-term success of online businesses that were an outgrowth of an existing storefront is encouraging and part of the phenomenon that is known as the World Wide Web.

Everyone wants to rush a product to market. Take, for instance, various cell phones. Each generation of phone provides improved design and new applications. As soon as one company unveils a new design and features, it isn't too long before another company presents something new with similar features and a few new ones.

I suppose it is the nature of business to evaluate the successes of competitors and work to match and exceed the offerings they make available. This dynamic is a driving force in pushing business to new and greater places in both service and product offerings.

One of the advantages of a product that is more organic in nature is that you may find a more individual item that is not easily duplicated and may be more adept at making an emotional impact on consumers.

Let me explain. Hand-crafted or homemade items often have the potential to help us connect with a memorable past while creating positive feelings in the present. It could be something as small as a bag of salt water taffy from a seaside shop that simply reminds you of a trip to the ocean as a child and time spent with dad, mom, grandparents or other cherished family members. It could also be something like a hand-carved walking stick that reminds you of hikes with family or friends. Just the visual cue created by these (or similar) products may remind you of times you enjoy remembering.

Any business that can supply an emotional connection with a product launch will more than likely find steady success in their business endeavors.

A product launch is important in the development of your business. Learn every facet of the product, find ways to describe it and help your audience find a reason to connect with the product on an emotional level.

Launching New Products Without Blowing Your Budget

by John Reed

Launching a new product is often the joy of entrepreneurs. However, many entrepreneurs start this process by shooting their efforts in the foot, then wondering why their ambitions are only limping along.

In order to avoid this common error, entrepreneurs must come to understand a couple of facts that seem very cruel to most egos. One fact is that, at the launch stage, no one cares about your new product but you. The second fact is that you must find a way to change fact number one.

Sure, I know what just popped into your head. You thought, "Well, I will just advertise my product and let the money roll in." That sounds good, but if we could somehow convene a committee of the owners of failed product launches of times past, you would find that they thought the same thing at the beginning of their campaigns. They did just that. And not only did they NOT make money; they lost money they already had in hand.

There must be an educational process implemented at the launch of any product. Just coming out of nowhere and telling consumers to buy your product is rarely successful.

Much like the age old question of which comes first chicken or the egg, there is the question of which comes first advertising or developing consumer’s interest in your product. Many people think these are the same but they aren’t.

When you present information online about a new product you must consider the web surfers patience and tolerance for reading what you have to say about your product. Since there is no distance in cyberspace, web surfers can leave websites very quickly. Bore them and you loose them. Entertain them and they will read every word of your promotional material and be happy to do it. They’ll absorb your product’s info in the process.

The question that remains is how to entertain them long enough to get your product information into their head. Flashy websites won’t do it anymore. They are a dime a dozen in this template-driven Internet age. You must have a hook. Listing your website in entertaining areas of the Internet can be a great way to get your product noticed and appreciated for what it has to offer to consumers.

Lately, companies both large and small have employed this angle in the physical world. Baseball games, football games, basketball games etc. have been inundated by ads and product introductions. Employing these tactics online are a lot less expensive and a lot easier to implement.

There are multiple ways of doing this. One of the most interesting means of introducing a product to the public is to immerse your product introduction into entertaining websites, but even greater than that is to make your introduction documentation itself a part of the entertainment.

Websites allow product launch materials to capture the full attention of prospective buyers by making the introduction materials part of a game the consumer is already playing. Users look for spelling and other errors to report them to the owner. They read every word, catching the full impact of the sales pitch and learn all of the feature intricacies of the product in question.

One of the side benefits of employing this type of technique is the perfection of sales materials. This makes product offers even more appealing to future customers.

Define Your Demographics

by Ward Tipton

A new and innovative product can be marketed to literally millions of people almost overnight in the world today. However, if none of those people have any interest in the product, it is still not very likely to sell well. Correctly identifying the demographic target of the market will solve that problem. Once the demographics have been defined, it will be easier to know where and to whom the market will be directed.

There are numerous sites on the internet for sending an advertisement to thousands or even millions of people. Many (or very likely most) people who have tried this know how difficult it is to get any discernible results from this type of campaign. While the ad may indeed go out to thousands or even millions of people, only a very small percentage of those people will ever look at those ads. Even then, the average return rate on random ads is less than one-half percent.

No matter how those odds are stacked, the odds are negligible at best. If the web site is brand new and the only interest is to generate generic traffic that is not likely to return, just to get some numbers, this may be a viable alternative, but for advertising, marketing and becoming successful with a product, it just will not work; at least not most of the time.

If the proper steps have been followed, the product is already under development or has already been completed and is just waiting on the next step to be completed. Either way, there should be a pretty good idea by now who the target audience is. Targeted marketing will always fare better than blind or blanket campaigns that try to cover everybody and everything.

This process may actually take some research and some insight. Many products can be targeted to multiple audiences, all of whom may be very receptive to the product. However, different demographics will respond differently to the actual marketing campaigns. For example; an eighty year old woman who happens to use the same shampoo as a fourteen year old boy is not very likely to respond the same way to an ad that is targeted to the teen. Quite the opposite may happen, actually, and the one customer will be forfeited for the sake of the other.

The idea is to figure out everybody who is going to be using this particular product. Each one of these demographic groups should have their own advertising campaign and marketing in place. By addressing separate markets differently, nobody will be alienated and the list of customers can be expanded rather than narrowed down. It is always better to have too many customers than not enough.

It is important to have as much information as possible about each group that is being targeted. Will the teenagers being targeted all be sports stars or will they be the ones less prevalent and more subtle in their appearances? Will the grandmother figure be an avid outdoors person with an active lifestyle or one who prefers to sit at home knitting while listening to the records she has from her youth?

All of these factors become more and more important as the targeting becomes more specific. Certain people will identify with one thing while it may not even be readily recognizable to someone else. While diversity in advertising is always a good idea, it is not helpful when it isolates more people than it is bringing into the market. By knowing who the target audience is, and knowing specifics about them, they can be more effectively pursued and sales increased accordingly.

As the marketing and advertising are expanded, further markets can be explored. However, at the beginning of any project, your time and resources are usually going to be stretched pretty thin. Concentrating on one market at a time can help alleviate some of the stress involved and provide a quicker return of investment.
The 5 Key Factors To Consider Before Launching A Product, Service or Idea

by Robin D Haywood

Locating the right products to sell online or off-line, one must clearly understand what people want to purchase. The right choice of product, service or idea followed by the demand in the current market and the competition or market share determines the product, service or idea's longevity in the market.

"What should I sell? What products are best-sellers?" Many people ask these questions and many are trying to find an answer so they can make an informed, intelligent decision. If one truly wants to know the answer to these questions, research is the way to find it.

There are all kinds of triggers and false evidence along the trail to mislead one into thinking they have an idea that is in high-demand. Understand this; a product, service or idea must satisfy the needs, wants and expectations of the customers or it will be a flop.

There are five basic key factors to consider before launching a product, service or idea; the need, want and expectation key factor, the competition key factor, the interest key factor, the advertising key factor and the analysis key factor. Let us get started, shall we?

Need is the fundamental question consumers ask themselves before each purchase. Another name for Need is the "qualifier or gatekeeper" factor in a purchase. Want is the next question a consumer will ask, also known as the "determiner" factor in the decision-making process. Expectation pulls both the need and want together to determine its value or worth to the consumer. Expectations and wants are closely related and are invaluable when products, services and ideas are similar.

Following the basic demand concept will clear the path to understanding the importance of use, language, understandability and affordable pricing. These ideas are applicable to Internet Marketing, Teleseminars, Webinars, Blogs, Pod casts and the list goes on.

The internet is no longer just a way to keep in touch, but a tool, when used properly, that will change the way businesses advertise. The demand concepts are basic and equally important to online and off-line marketing.

The second key factor to consider when searching for a product to sell is competition or market shares. Competition level or shares in the market mean the ratio of the brand sales versus the market sales. Consumers decide the competitive frame when exercising their power to buy, while companies define its target competitors.

Therefore, choosing the right segment of the market where one can have a leadership or competitive stance is critical. The objective of business is not just to satisfy the needs and wants of the consumer but to profit as well. Otherwise, the competition will satisfy the needs and wants of the customer.

The third key factor consideration when searching for the right product, service or idea to sell is the level of interest. Interest paints the whole picture and determines where the demand and competition numbers will fall. Simply put; no demand, no competition and no profits. The research must continue in order to find the right product to sell.

The fourth key factor consideration is advertising. Learning how others are advertising the product will help determine if a product, service or idea is marketable. If there are a good number of similar products in the market, this is possibly a good match.

The final key factor consideration in the process is analyzing and evaluating the data collected. Now, weigh all the key factors and determine marketability of a product, service or idea.

Summary of the key factors:

(a) Enough demand, enough purchasers

(b) Not too much competition, enough profits to share

(c) Not too much advertising keeps down the price and competition

(d) Enough interest, combined with high demand, means good market share

Internet Banner Advertising Secrets

by Mark A. Abrahams

When the internet started, banner advertising was one of
the most popular ways to advertise. However, once this kind
of advertising became popular, it dramatically reduced its
effect. People became blind towards banner ads and click through rates become as low as 0.5%. However, many top
internet marketers still use banner advertising as one of
their top-producing strategies. You will reap the rewards
with internet banner advertising once you know how to apply
the correct marketing strategies.

One of the most challenging aspects of banner advertising is to
get people to actually click on your banner. With all the
banners looking like adverts, people have become oblivious
to this. Design your banner so it doesn't look like an
advert. Make the background white, because this makes it
blend in and look like content. Then, use blue text to
denote the advertisement. People are conditioned by using
the internet to associate blue with a hyperlink and this
will make them click on it. Use a good attention-grabbing
headline, for example; "How To Lose 30 Pounds In 20 Days".

Once you have created your banner, you need to find good
places on the internet to advertise. I suggest you look for
websites related to yours and then contact the owners
directly. Use your negotiating skills to try to lower the
advertising rate until you are satisfied that you have a good deal.

Also, try to get at least a 30 day trial to test the effectiveness of the internet banner advertising on that peticular site before you enter into a long term contract.

You will also need to create an appropriate landing page for your banner advertisement. This could be in the form of a
squeeze page. I would strongly suggest that you do not send
your visitor to a sales page as a visitor usually needs to
see your offer at least 7 times before they will consider
buying.

Follow these internet banner advertising tips and you will
find that you can produce substantially more traffic to
your website as well as increase your profits.

Would you like to know more about the traffic techniques have helped me to drive thousands of visitors to my website? I have just completed my new guide.

Coaching - I Have Seen The Competition and It Is Me

by Scott Lindsay

Who is your competition? If you’re like every other self-respecting online business owner, you have scoured the Internet locating other sites that sell similar merchandise or services. And, like most businesses, you learn what you can from these sites and make use of what you learn.

Who is your competition? Is it the box store down the street that can sell similar products for less than you can acquire yours? If you’re like most business owners, you seek creative ways to market your product in a manner that accentuates the unique features and qualities that can’t be duplicated in box store purchases.

But who is your competition?

You. You are your own best competition.

As a business owner you need to pay attention to what other businesses do (both online and in brick-and-mortar counterparts). In the end, however, you are in competition with yourself first and foremost.

You may or may not be able to match or beat another business in price, but you can work hard to do better in business this year than you did last.

Think for a minute about all the things that you are doing better at this year than last. Don’t limit your thinking to financial data.

Are you better able to handle administrative duties this year?

Are you establishing new networks between business associates and customers?

Are you implementing new marketing strategies that you didn’t know about last year?

Are you streamlining customer service by developing autoresponders and faster product fulfillment options?

Are you making sure your website remains fresh and inviting in a way that you weren’t able to last year?

Are you more passionate about your business this year than you were last year?

Are you responding to customer requests for certain products and eliminating others that do not sell as well?

I could ask dozens of additional questions, but the point to this exercise is that if you spend more time competing with yourself than with another business, you will most often find greater success.

When you compete against yourself, you are better able to learn what you can from mistakes you’ve made in the past and improve. When you focus too much on what someone else is doing, you are less able to evaluate what mistakes you have made (or are making). In the end, you may not have the ability to be objective about how you are doing as a business because you are spending too much time concentrating on a business you don’t own.

Maybe this is the year you can start a new and healthy competition – with yourself.

Peeking Through the Windows

by Vernon Lee

Peeking through the windows of how software is designed and development can add to your income. With the technology that has evolved today, we all use computer programs that we like. A lot of software developers start from scratch using various computer languages to develop new and exciting software.

There is a lot of freeware that is offered under license for use and free to change as long as you don’t change certain things that are written into the program. "You didn’t start the fire," it was already burning when you arrived at the desired spot to write genuine programs and games for fun or profit.

The software that you use can be enhanced or made better. This is where you fit in. The wheel has already been invented. So why would you try to accomplish building the wheel over again? Why not enhance it? The evolution of the wheel has advanced man into the future so far that we now have cars. In other words, the program or software that you want to create can or may be the idea of someone else. I'm not telling you to steal or infringe on anyone's copyrights or trade secrets. However, once you become proficient in computer programming, why not write your own program to do what your favorite software can do? This process can take a few hours or longer to develop. But once the software is completed, you can market it to increase your income. Your product can be as good as Lager Corporation’s product. Usually the outcome is better than you would expect.

A Plan to Launch Your Product In 4 Simple Steps

By Melvin Perry

If you look at the online market today, you will be able to observe that there is major competition online. This major competition has motivated internet companies to continue coming out with new and innovative products in order to have an edge on the competition. This is the main reason of their sustained success amongst a competitive market. That is why having a product launch plan is very important for online success. Here are four easy ways to get started with a successful product launch plan.

When you create a product launch plan, it is very important that you have an understanding of your target market. If you release a product amongst an audience that has no interest in your product, then your product launch plan was a tragic failure. Therefore, you must really know your target audience before you come up with a product launch plan. Also, it is important that you launch your product during a time when there is maximum demand for your product in the market.

With a good product launch plan, it is necessary that you market and presell your product before the actual launch date. During this time, you must use as many methods of advertising as you can to get your message out. The internet has turned out to be the perfect medium for pre-launching successful product releases. Just put ads to your product on high-traffic websites that are closely related to your target market. Remember, a successful product launch plan always takes into account the target audience that it is marketing to.

You should always include attractive bonus offers with your product when you begin to come up with your product launch plan. Including bonuses and alluring offers with your product will improve the success and earnings gained from the launch. Another proven product launch plan is to keep the price low initially during the launch, then raise the price to normal after a few days.

Instant Success

by Ward Tipton

Instant Noodles are probably one of the greatest inventions of all times. The strange thing is that they really are not instant and really are not a new invention. They are just the same old noodles in a new package and marketed a little differently.

There has to be a lesson to be learned when this product is given a closer inspection. Here is something (the noodle) that is hundreds, maybe even thousands of years old. Yet it is now one of the most profitable food niche markets in existence today. Whether it is ramen, canton, bihon, pancit or whatever name it is known by locally, the concept is actually very amazing.

Anyone can purchase these same noodles for much cheaper if they buy them in bulk; bulk in this case being buying them by the kilo or by the pound. Throw in a little bouillon cube and voila, instant success.

So what is the lesson to be learned here from this marketing wonder? Is it that everybody needs to find a product that is hundreds or thousands of years old? That is hardly the case. The whole point is that anything can be sold and profited on if it is packaged correctly.

Who was the first one who packaged the noodles in portions that were suitable for one person? While nobody may know their name, it is certain that it could be looked up. Either way, if they patented the idea, there is a strong chance that they are not among the working-class people anymore.

Somebody once said that everything worth being invented has already been invented. This is probably not the case either. The sad fact of the matter is that most people will not ever come up with a patentable idea that will allow them to retire in the lap of luxury.

The whole idea behind marketing; whether it is marketing an idea, a product or information on the internet, or providing something tangible in a store; the concept is the same. Marketing and recognizable packaging has a lot to do with it, but it is mostly in the presentation.

These people offered nothing at all that was new. They repackaged it and advertised it as a convenience. Given the hectic pace in the world today, that concept is what sold the product. They knew what buttons to push to get people to buy.

It can be said that not everybody is going to have a life-changing idea or concept. That does not mean that they cannot get rich with the proper marketing. Finding a product that can be sold is an important factor. Creating a need or a desire is as important to success as is creating a sense of urgency to have that one product in particular. Closing the deal is easy when everything is packaged and presented properly. Making sure that the product is easily recognizable will generate return business, but that is another article.

Peel Away Ads - The Next Generation Marketing Pop-Up Ads

Peel Away Ads - The Next Generation Marketing Pop-Up Ads

by Cher K Markov

Ads are of different types. Whatever may be the type of ad, it is clearly meant for some sort of business. In our day-to-day lives, we are exposed to hundreds-- maybe even thousands-- of commercial messages per day in one form or another. It may be from the boring, copy-laden radio commercial to the easily skimmed, forgettable newspaper ad, to the billboard on the side of the bus to the logo on the side of the building and finally to those annoying pop-ups you see on every other website.

A research conducted by the University of Washington in the year 1999 showed that an average American is exposed to 500 to 1,000 commercial messages a day. That's anywhere from 182,500 to 365,000 commercial messages that a person will view for a year alone. That was way back in 1999. What could be the situation now in this digital era?

Definitely, the customers are sick to death of pop-ups, fly-ins, and pop-unders. This could be a real worry to the business persons as the traditional ads are annoying in nature. Alternately, one should look for the next generation ads like Peel Away Ads. These are now very crazy on the internet and are used by the corporate multinational companies to attract the online consumers because of their pleasing way of being non-annoying in nature.

Peel Away Ads is a new breed of ad technology that is not only pleasing to the eye, but also effective in drawing the customer’s attention, causing them to click. The working of the peel away ads is simple in approach.

Based on proprietary technology, a small animated "peel"-- also known as “Curl” or “Dog Ears”-- is displayed on the top right corner of a web page. If a website visitor moves the mouse over the corner or page peel, a large clickable ad is displayed. When the visitor moves the mouse away the ad rolls back up and leaves your web page viewable.

Don’t be under the impression that there is a lot of web designing in the secret of displaying peel away ads. This is done with a simple software script that is easily customizable. So from now on, every webmaster can have these next generation ads in their websites at an affordable cost in line with Big Corporations.

Cher K Markov is an Internet Marketer that writes articles on various resources. She has made a good review on webmaster tools like Peel Away Ads (http://hubpages.com/hub/Peel_Away_Ads_Script) that really work in modern day business for the website owners.
Pixel Advertising - How It Could Make A Comeback

by Brad Martindale

In 2005, The MillionDollarHomepage (MDH) made internet history by selling one million pixels for one dollar per pixel, generating a whopping one million dollars for its owner. Now, almost 2 years and thousands of copy-cat sites later, pixel advertising is all but dead. This writer believes that with the proper implementation, pixel advertising could rise again.

The MDH was a brilliant idea and, while it served its purpose, had several flaws that prevented it from thriving after the million pixels were sold. In case the reader isn't familiar with the MDH, I'll provide some basic history. MDH had a 1 megapixel image on its homepage and it sold 10 X 10 pixel blocks of this image for people to advertise on, which would link to their websites when clicked. They could not change the image and were limited as to what details people would see when they moved their mouse over the micro-ad. It sold these 10 X 10 blocks (100 pixels) for one dollar a pixel (the minimum purchase was 100 dollars). All one million pixels sold in just over 4 months (give or take). The site was getting an insane amount of traffic, so advertisers were chomping at the bit to get their ad on the website. Some of the space even went up on eBay towards the end for much more than the original price.

The problem with MDH was the price was too high (relatively speaking) and most ads were really too small to see. It was really by the luck of the draw or how flashy your 10 X 10 image was whether your ad got clicked or not. As the dust settled, the advertisers on MDH realized that people were really only coming to the webpage to see if it was filling up and what click traffic they were receiving from the site was "trash" traffic. The copy-cat sites that emerged only compounded the problem by trying to exploit what MDH had already done wrong. A very negative tone echoed throughout the web about micro-advertising and the "fad" has died out over the last 12 months or so. Don't get me wrong, this was obviously a good idea since MDH did achieve its goal. It could have been so much more, though.

So how can pixel advertising make a comeback? The same idea as the original site can still be applied, but something has to be done to keep visitors coming back for more. Advertisers will no longer pay the one dollar per pixel price for such small, unnoticeable ads, so the price must be lowered. Advertisers also need other incentives to advertise on the site. Advertisers need to be able to change their ads when they want. The system needs to be fully automated. The ads need to be accessible in ways other than just having the ad displayed on a grid. There needs to be more space available to advertise on but not so much that it becomes a commodity. And finally, the site must be promoted. A good site will just sit there without the proper promotion, regardless of how unique and innovative it is.

These few small changes could really turn a good idea into a great idea and breathe new life into the pixel advertising industry. It seems so simple, yet no one has been able to effectively put all of these elements in place since the MDH. I think there is still a place out there for pixel advertising. Only time will tell if anyone can pull it off.

Established in 2007, he has taken the pixel advertising industry by storm with his unique combined implementation of traditional pixel advertising and search engine techniques.
KISS Your Way To More Web Site Traffic With Banner Advertising

by Said Issilam

Very seldom do you visit a web site that is free and clear of any banner advertising. We always have to scroll past banner ads. They literally appear everywhere these days, whether the adverts are at the very top of the page, running down the right side of the page or at the bottom of the page. And let’s not forget the infamous pop-up ad! Each banner ad is vying for our attention, wanting our clicks to raise their profile and web site traffic. The very idea behind the advertiser running a banner advertising campaign is to increase their web site traffic by drawing you in with their ad.

You may notice the ad promising you information on something unbelievable or an offer that you can’t pass up! The banner advertising will be a well-crafted message with action verbs that serve as a call-to-action. This call-to-action is typically you clicking the advertisement and boosting their web site traffic. Good banner advertising is typically brief, clever and informative while also leaving the viewer wanting more – giving them no choice but to click the ad!

There are only a few seconds to entice people into clicking your banner advertisement and potentially becoming regular web site traffic, frequent visitors, paid subscribers or customers at your site. It is important to avoid two common mistakes in banner ad creation.

Many times, someone will mistakenly feel the need to be obnoxious with their ad in an effort to make their banner advertising stand out from other ads. There will be constant animation, tons of Flash, celebrity pictures, sound effects and loud colors. You want your banner advertising to lift web site traffic rather than annoy every set of eyes your ad will meet. Also, be conscious of the content of the web sites that you are placing your banner advertising on.

In general, most graphic designers, when it comes to banner advertising, follow the KISS method of marketing. Keep It Simple and Stupid. Now, when we say stupid, we are talking about making sure your tone and the wording aren’t overly complicated or above the heads of the general audience. There isn’t enough room within a banner ad to post every single detail about your company or product. The dimensions of banner advertising don’t provide the space to be too wordy or descriptive. Remember, the goal is to turn the people seeing your ad into web site traffic. They will have plenty of time to learn the specifics about your site… when that person actually clicks your ad and browses your site for more details! Keep the message of your banner advertising concise and to the point!

Instead of writing long descriptive text and, worse yet, fitting more and more text into your banner ad by animating frames or using a Flash presentation, keep the wording short and the font size and style large and prominent, so your banner advertising will catch the eye.

A creative and well thought-out banner advertising campaign will always remain an effective way to attract interest and increase your web site traffic!

About Photo Mosaics

by Douglas Stillson

Have you ever seen a commercial or advertisement that had a bunch of tiny images compiled to make up one big picture? This big picture is made up of hundreds and thousands of little pictures normally in the size of a small square. This composition is called a photo mosaic. They are not just used for commercials and banners, but they can be made for your personal use as well.

You know all those family pictures that you have dating back 12 years ago? You can take those and have them made into a photo mosaic. Even better, there is tons of software available to the general public so that you can make your own photo mosaics without having to pay someone to make a photo mosaic for you. Photo Mosaics can make great pictures to hang up around your house. They can also make wonderful gifts for your friends and family members. Not too long ago, photo mosaics were so expensive that the normal everyday person could not afford it, but luckily this has been changed due to the improvement in technology.

If you do decide to send your photos to someone to make your photo mosaic online, you should beware as you don’t know who is on the other side of the computer. If you just searched and chose someone, it could be a scam, so be sure to research everything because you don’t want to spend money on something that is not going to look right, or-- worse yet-- end up paying for something you never receive at all. Scammers often just take your credit card number and run, so look closely at the refunds and agreement terms on their websites, and if you don’t like the terms, then steer clear of that company.

Banner Economics

by Tim Yu

Business online-- like business offline-- always boils down to math: the difference between cost and revenue. If your banner campaign is costing more than it’s earning, you won’t be in business for very long. To figure out how your campaign is doing, you’re going to need to know your Cost Per Mille, your Click Through Rate and your Conversion Rate. These are your basic tools. If you don’t know them, find out!

Let’s say your CPM is $20, your CTR is 1%, and your Conversion Rate is 4%. (So you’re paying $20 every 1,000 times your banner is shown, it brings you 10 new users, and you make one sale for every 25 users the ad brings). The question you need to ask yourself is how much are you wasting on the 24 users who don’t buy.

Cost per visitor = $20 / 10 = $2 So each visitor costs you $2, but you need 25 visitors to make one sale, so...

Cost per sale = $2 * 25 = $50	...if your product is worth less than $50, you’re taking a loss.

That’s pretty simple, and as you can see, there’s not a lot of room to maneuver here. Margins are tight on banner advertising, and that applies to both the site selling the advertising space and the webmaster buying it.

Of course, hard cash isn’t the only way to measure the success of a banner ad, and one reason they’re still popular is that they’re a pretty effective branding tool. After all, advertisers spend millions on billboards without expecting motorists to drive straight through them and make a purchase! On the Web, those advertisers can even be reasonably sure that the people who see their ads will be interested in them. But branding costs money—lots of it—with no guarantee of results. It’s usually best left to the big boys.

The banner ads on my sites usually send users to my affiliate partners, and the banner ads I place on other people’s sites usually come from my affiliate programs. They don’t cost me anything and as long I’m making the sales to pay my affiliate partners, everybody’s happy.

If you do decide to purchase banner advertisements though, and if you have a very specific market in mind, make sure they are strategically placed—on sites where the traffic will most definitely be interested in your product or service. Find a site that suits exactly your specific product and you’re going to be appealing directly to your target market.

Viral Marketing - Impacting Established Brands

By Paul Grant

In a rapidly changing technological landscape, some high profile brands are facing the challenging decision to embrace 'viral' marketing campaigns. As there can be no assurances with each viral project, executives do not have the 'usual' facts and figures to make a well-informed and substantiated decision.

By its very nature, a viral project is unlike anything that has been done before.

This means there is no formula, no statistics, nor guarantees. Results can only be proven retrospectively. It can be too late for those results to have any extra meaning than the knowledge that viral marketing works in principle. The most successful new media viral campaigns would not be able to generate the same results if replicated by another company wanting to emulate that same success.

Viral marketing is a high risk, high gain means of marketing. It is changing all the time. There are no experts who can accurately predict how the marketplace will respond. Fortunately, the cost is not measured in financial terms, but only in the way, the public perceives the brand. Get it right and a brand can suddenly become very prominent in secondary media articles and traditional media. Get it wrong and it affects the brand's reputation negatively. Sometimes this secondary (and free) publicity ends up impacting the campaign more than the viral content itself.

Large, slower moving corporations are being startled into responding to these changes. Smaller and more progressive companies are challenging the old stalwarts of business by using whatever viral means necessary to establish greater market share.

Often the biggest, most well respected brands are unfamiliar to this radical and non-traditional approach to marketing. It took many years to establish an expensive, rigorously consistent, and highly polished corporate identity. Their company identity may have evolved over several decades. For such a company to consider the idea of diluting the brand into something generic, cheap, gossipy, comic, populist, or otherwise remarkable to the masses; raises red flags and executive concerns. These executives naturally fear losing the 'consistency' of their on-brand message, or the particular 'look and feel' of the brand, as predetermined in their own internal corporate style guides.

Those corporations taking risks in the way they present their brand by embracing this viral trend are already observing great benefits, with lower costs and higher response rates from their target market. They are perceived by their target demographic as 'cool', 'hip', 'cutting edge', and 'in touch' with a changing world.

Consider Nike(tm), Adidas(tm), and Pepsi(tm). All three brands have used viral marketing as a mainstay of their digital FIFA World Cup 06 football campaigns.

The power of viral marketing is people willingly pass it on for free. It means there are no manufacturing, packaging, licensing, or distribution costs. The total cost of ownership includes only the cost involved in creating the initial idea and the actual content.

How viral marketing works

In all instances, an initial 'viral' concept must be developed and published either to a website, in an email, as a mobile phone message, or through some new or emerging distribution channel.

Some of the most effective viral content is quite poor in production quality, often quite controversial, offensive to some; but if successful, will be high in public appeal. This can be an obstacle for some executives who build their brand to maintain the highest production and moral standards in all printed and televised materials.

Occasionally the more professional or polished something looks; the less likely the end-user will be to consider the source credibly worth passing on. In some cases, the corporation funding or initiating the viral content will actually distance themselves from the content. They will claim to have no knowledge of how it came to be, nor did they have anything to do with its creation. This is all a public relations angle to improve the chances of the mass market accepting the content as non-intrusive.

People know, only too well, how annoying it is to receive materials that are not directly known beforehand to be of value to the recipient.

If, on the other hand, the recipient or user is actually stimulated to respond emotionally to a piece of viral marketing; i.e. anger, disgust, joy, sadness, laughter etc., they will likely want their circle of friends to experience the same thing. It is the 'much-targeted' nature of a 'circle of friends' that makes viral marketing so effective. The old anonymous saying has some merit in this context...

'Birds of a feather flock together.'

If a company or brand can make a solid impression on any single individual within a selected group, that person will likely share about it with their 'flock', knowing it will also be of interest to them.

A viral campaign could end up affecting several million highly targeted consumers, which to achieve using traditional media would potentially cost as many Dollars, Pounds, or Euros, as the amount of consumers reached. Generating a return on investment using traditional media has a greatly reduced profit margin in comparison to the miniscule investment involved in initially creating a piece of viral marketing.

The importance of embracing viral marketing

Increasing bandwidth is now making possible, for the first times, such things as video on demand, live video, IPTV, and other formats of rich media interactivity. Those companies harnessing these trends in a creative and viral way are finding themselves to be moving ahead of competitors who previously held the greatest market share by spending large sums of money in the traditional media.

The success of a viral marketing campaign can only really be measured in terms of how many people visit or view a viral site, or how many times an email has been read and so on. In some cases, it may also be possible to measure click-through conversion via a call to action, although this level of transparency can often also become an obstacle to the tool becoming viral in an epidemic way.

Currently, there is very little hard statistics that demonstrates conclusively that viral marketing makes a difference to the bottom line. There is no doubt that this type of content is being seen by millions of people. Much like television advertising, it is not always clear whether people are buying product because of the advert or in response to a variety of brand promotions across multiple platforms.

Those large corporations struggling to resolve whether to embrace the idea of viral marketing now have the advantage. They can learn from some of the world's largest and best-known brands. As these brands have been forced to change their understanding of marketing on a day-by-day basis, so too will all companies wanting to compete in tomorrow's world. In the coming years, many more companies with traditional established brands will need to concede; the concepts of marketing are changing right now and very quickly at that.

By apparently diluting their brand in order to create generic viral content, these companies can in fact capture the interest of the next generation of media users, thereby building a massive community of loyal customers that not only buy but also recommend their products and services.
How to Use Teleseminars to Promote Your Business and Generate Quick Cash

By Alexandria K. Brown

Can I share a secret with you?

Teleseminars are some of the easiest money I've ever made.

Chances are, you've attended a teleseminar lately. Why not produce them yourself? These seminars by phone are fun and easy to do.

Giving FREE teleseminars is a fabulous way to promote your business, help your prospects get to know you better, increase your E-zine subscribers, and jack-up sales. I offer a free monthly teleseminar that gives people an introduction to what I teach (how to get business via an E-zine). These calls generate me tons of new E-zine subscribers and sales for my home study courses.

Giving PAID teleseminars promotes your business and generates revenues as well. I do one paid teleseminar at least every two months on a different marketing topic, and sometimes I invite a special guest. Each of these events grosses me between $5,000 and $10,000.

You should also consider offering an "intensive" or "bootcamp" series of multi-week teleseminars. You can break up aspects of one topic or do a series on multiple, related topics. My former "4-Week E-zine Launch Telebootcamps" went for $497 and sold out every time.

To get started, you'll need:

1. A bridge line. For less than 30 people, FreeConference.com has worked fine for me. (Yes, it's FREE.) For more people, or for paid events, I use a paid line, such as from Great Teleseminars, because they come with personal service and an operator if anything goes wrong.

2. An automated way for people to sign up. I use, LOVE, and wholeheartedly recommend AutoWebBusiness. It's an online shopping cart program that comes complete with E-mail autoresponders and link tracking. It also lets you do coupon offers for special groups, and you can automatically track commissions for affiliates.

3. A way to record your teleseminars. You'll want to provide the audio for people to listen to later online, or you can make CDs. Record yourself with inexpensive software like Sonic Foundry's Sound Forge Studio, or hire someone to do it for you. I use AudioStrategies (http://www.AudioStrategies.com).

But -- there's a LOT more to it...

How do you get signups, especially if you have a small list?
Where can you advertise your teleseminars?
What days and times will get you more people?
How much should you charge?
How can you get expert guests on your calls for free?
How should you prepare handouts and visuals?
Do people really want CDs, or are they happy with online audio?
WHERE do you start?

To learn MY step-by-step formula for producing teleseminars that REALLY make you money, see my program, "Insider Secrets to Making Money With TELESEMINARS."

Working at Home: Not for Everyone

By Dan

Unless you have been living under a rock, you have probably seen some sort of advertisement for a home based online business. Was if for an e-book, or some "system" that will set you up to make big bucks, or something in between? The thought of making a lot of money online attracts a lot people. Most people just brush it off thinking it is a scam. However, a thought has been stuck in my mind for sometime; yes, earning a full time income from home would be nice. What if everyone did that?

Our economy would completely collapse if everyone tried to work from home with an online business. The people working 40+ hours a week developed the computer you are using to read this article. The servers that are hosting this website. The electronic parts that make up those servers. They possibly make much less, than the people who manage to make an income from an online business. Do not forget all those people running those stores where you buy your clothes, electronics, and food; not to mention the engineers and scientists working to make life better for people. Let's not forget everyone who works in the government, need I say more? In addition, that is just the tip of the iceberg.

What is the point of going to college if anyone can make their own online business? College is already expensive, and it will only become more expensive. All that time, money, and work spent for a degree, and all for what? Doctors spent their entire life to learn everything about medicine, only to leave their practice to run an online business. Give me a break. A savvy high school drop out could theoretically make more than the person who got perfect grades their whole life and got every award imaginable. In addition, our society needs those storeowners, scientists, workers, and everyone else out there working a job. It is how the whole system works and it is not changing anytime soon.

Of course, this is all hypothetical. Only a relatively small amount of the population is actually interested in running an online business full time. There are plenty of people working a full time job, and running a part time online business for some extra cash. Maybe they love their job, and the socialization that comes with working. When you work at home, the nice conversations, parties, meals, and hanging out with your co-workers is gone, for good. When you are someone who makes money without leaving your home, good luck finding new friends, when people are working hours and hours to make ends meet. However, if you make a lot of money all from the comfort of your own home, then who cares?

My point is that making a lot of money online would be a wonderful thing. However, you cannot just ignore the people out there with careers, the people working to make society better, the people trying to aid the needy, and everyone in between. If you really want to start your own online business, then go for it, and do your best to make it succeed. Maybe your job does not pay enough and you want some extra cash in your pocket. An online business would be a great way to make some more money. However, if you are just sort of iffy, do not quit your day job.

MySpace And Other Social Networking Marketing Web Traffic Tips

by Randal Williams

Social networking sites have increased in popularity over the past few years. More people than ever before now use sites such as "MySpace" and "YouTube" to get their message across to the rest of the world. While sites like these are mainly used for meeting new people, they can also help you to sell your product or service if you advertise yourself properly.

What to Remember With Social Networking and Advertising

The main thing to keep in mind if you are looking to advertise on social networking sites is that you should not make your message too pushy. People do not want things sold to them online, especially not on social networking sites. It is fine to mention what you do and what you sell but do it in a way that does not make your product too desperate. For example, you could say something like:

"Hi, my name's John and I own a company known as ‘John's Fitness Equipment'. It's taken me a few years to build up my business but I love providing a service that people need. My hobbies are..."

You should not say something like:

"Hi my name's John and I run a fantastic company known as ‘John's Fitness Equipment'. My products can really help you to get harder, firmer bodies whilst helping you to have fun at the same time. No other products act quite like these ones, so check them out now if you haven't already!"

You can really tell the difference between the two descriptions. People want to know more about you. What is your passion other than your products? If you have a sincere reason for selling your products then you can mention that in a blog on the site, but other than that just mention things about you. If you drop your product/business into conversation then people will be more interested in what you do than if you went on and on about it constantly.

The main way in which you can get yourself noticed on social networking sites is by actively taking part. By making new friends and posting comments on their profiles, you can get noticed as other people see the comments and visit your profile, too. Joining groups is another good idea, especially on MySpace. There are all kinds of different groups to suit all of your needs. Whether you want to join a group about religion, food, pets or hobbies, there are thousands of groups to choose from. Just remember that whatever groups you do choose to join will show potential clients what your tastes are. You do not want to come across badly and so you really need to think about what you say and what groups you join.

Social networking sites can be a fantastic way to bring new business to your company. However, it needs to be done properly and you need to spend the time and effort making new friends and posting new comments and blogs wherever possible.

Ecommerce: Shopping For A Shopping Solution

by Scott Lindsay

The specifics of ecommerce can require a learning curve that many are reluctant to tackle. Perhaps that's why many brick and mortar stores have not entered the world of online marketing.

It is possible to look at ecommerce and consider the things you might need and lose heart. You take a look at some of the items you need such as site design, hosting, shopping cart, autoresponders, search engine registration and a laundry list of other services and you wonder how in the world you are going to come up with a way to make it work. This is especially true for those who are just happy if they can figure out how to open their email account.

Because not everyone is adept at the specifics of ecommerce, sites that customize a package for their customers are a boon to many entering the world of ecommerce.

Don Fortner, a Direct Marketer describes a one-stop ecommerce solution, "You can really have it all. I was quickly able to build a fully functional commercial web site using the easy-to-use templates with slide shows, image maps, fully functional search engine, Pay Pal shopping cart and more! Highly Recommended."

According to High Power Sites you can find a, "solution that affordably allows anyone with even the lowest level of Internet experience to make their own professional ecommerce website."

These solutions are feature-rich in design and function and manage the very specific needs you may have in a user-friendly interface. Those who use these one-stop ecommerce solutions find they are able to successfully launch their website in a very short period of time.

Many online marketers have found that the integration of multiple technologies in one package provides a choice that gives them time to learn the skills of optimization. For some netrepreneurs this option becomes a long-term solution.

Dale McIntosh from AMJ Funding Group who uses an integrated ecommerce solution said, "My website pages are as good or better than some of my friends who are in the same type of business."

When you follow the success stories of those who have added ecommerce to their brick and mortar store you will notice a growth pattern that is more than encouraging.

Perhaps the greatest advantage to an online store is it never closes. Automated function in a solid website design allows for transactions to occur at the discretion of your clients. The fulfillment of the orders can be taken care of when you or your staff is available. Those who utilize the web for purchases enjoy the control they have in making online purchases at times that are convenient to them. Ecommerce allows you to cater to that desire.

Make More Profits With a USP

by Larry Potter

What is A USP?

A USP is a unique selling proposition.

You MUST emphasize what makes you better than the competition. Let your customers know exactly how and why they will benefit from doing business with you, instead of someone else. Perhaps you offer a better guarantee than others do, or your service or product might cost less, maybe you offer special advice or knowledge that is not available anywhere else, or your customer service might be better than the competitions, or you might offer special incentives that no one else does.

The bottom-line, whatever your angle, when promoting your service or product is that you need to emphasize what makes you special or unique!

In addition, always give them information.

People search the internet for information, not to be sold something. They do not want to read a sales pitch.

You want to give each visitor to your home business site as much information as possible. When you take the time to educate them, you build credibility. Make your online business web site a valuable resource for your customers by giving them free tips and tools. This helps build your reputation while making your site one your readers will come back to, repeatedly.

This will help establish you as an expert in your field, knowledgeable, and trustworthy. In addition, once they trust you, they will buy from you!

One great way to provide information and establish credibility is with a free newsletter. Spinning graphics and neat colors will not sell your service or product---your copy will. One of the most important factors in determining the success or failure of your online home business is well-written, compelling copy. This will determine the success or failure of your online home business.

And never imply.

If you have an online home business, you should never imply what you want your visitors to do, rather you should explicitly state it. This is hard for some because they do not want to impose their wishes on anyone; they prefer to be polite. However, unless you are blunt with your visitors, you will see only mediocre or downright poor results.

Tell you visitor exactly what you want them to do, whether it be...

*Read an article

*Buy your product

*Subscribe

*Enter a contest

*Join your affiliate program

*Fill out a survey

*Click

Make sure you let them know!

Marketing experts have proven you will increase your home business sales by at least 80% simply by asking for the order.

How to Choose a Webmaster – Cruising the Online Street

By Lynn VanDyke

Get the tips you need to know before hiring a webmaster for your small business. Lynn VanDyke explores several traits that a successful webmaster should inherit. Does your webmaster produce results?

Browsing is reminiscent of the cruising teenagers used to do in there 1954 Chevrolets. Cruising the downtown street was an opportunity to visit favorite places, say hello to friends, get current information of interest, and just enjoy the world in general.

Browsing, or cruising, the internet offers many of the same conventions while you sit in the driver's seat at your computer. On the internet are your favorite sites, instant messaging, and email for conferring with your friends, up-to-the minute information about any topic of interest, and a way to access the whole world.

Once you decide to join the crowd and build a website, many important considerations should go into your project. A webmaster can help you make sure the ‘drive' is safe and enjoyable! Building a Hotrod Website many hotrod restorations are called ‘frame-up' jobs. The car is stripped to its bare frame. Everything on the car is restored, one-step at a time, until completion.

Along the way are hundreds of important decisions that affect the final product – everything from custom exhaust systems to door handles. There are so many intricacies. Normally an expert is hired to assist with the project, especially for the bodywork.

Building a website is no different. When you decide to own a website, how to drive business or traffic to the site and the intricacies of the internet and are best handled by a professional webmaster.

What should you look for in a webmaster?

- Current in website creation methods

- Current in website enhancement techniques including video

- Clear on website ownership issues

- Experienced and has examples of work completed you can review

- Able to apply search engine optimization techniques

- Offers owner access for changes or input- Willing to incorporate owner written material

- Good communication skills

- Provides statistical analysis of website traffic

- Hourly or project cost fits within your budget

A webmaster has the big responsibility to satisfy your project requirements, within a budget, on time, and successfully drive business to your site. A webmaster is a professional. The company you hire will understand how to create an effective website that is easy to use.

It is extremely frustrating when you turn the key on your hotrod and nothing happens. It is just as frustrating to visit a website and not be able find what you want or is so convoluted it is impossible to browse. A webmaster insures that your website does not fall prey to these common mistakes.

Breakdowns!

You are cruising in your hotrod. Suddenly, smoke starts coming out the tailpipe. The inevitable breakdown occurs and you are stuck on the side of the highway. No need to panic because the expert who helped assemble the car will also help with the repairs.

Your website, once built, will always need maintenance. There will be upgrades, new additions, deletions, problems, and expansions needed on the site. The webmaster you choose should offer site maintenance. Some common needs include:

- Addition of new information about your company

- Changing graphics

- New pages or information

- Corrections

- Changes resulting from user comments

- Redesigns

Webmasters also have plans that include marketing your website. Naturally, just like taking the disabled hotrod to the mechanic for repairs, maintenance and marketing plans usually incur additional charges.

When you sign a contract with a webmaster, make sure the rates are ones you can afford and are consistent with market pricing. If possible, try to hire a webmaster that includes marketing in the initial quote.

Back On The Highway

You want your hotrod cruising the streets, not sitting in a garage. Your website is meant to be available 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. An inoperable site is worthless to a business.

A webmaster can make sure your site is always cruising. Whether you need design, redesign, or maintenance, a webmaster is the best mechanic for the job.

7 Tips For Bringing Your Online Store To Your Customers

by John Young

"I’m amazed at this! I put very little effort into this online business, and already I’m making over $14,000 a month!"

We’ve all heard these testimonials in ads for “starting your online business.” We are then offered a "turnkey" Website already designed and filled with widgets to sell on the Web.

The ads lead us to believe that hordes of customers will flock to our site, wallets in hand, ready to avoid the downtown mobs. We’re promised an overnight fortune with little or no effort. We purchase the site and set up the store, only to find that reality falls well short of expectations.

The "SNAFU" Of Online Marketing:

Perhaps one of the greatest disappointments for the novice online marketer is to discover that the effort she has put into designing and publishing a monetizing Website may very well be wasted because no one comes to it.

In the real world (as compared to the virtual one), a business is generally set up by first renting space (hopefully in an area with heavy traffic, such as a shopping mall or on main street), designing and setting up the store, filling it with inventory, displaying the merchandise, and advertising to bring in customers with wallets ready to buy.

While location is important, most effort is directed at bringing the customers to the site, not the other way around.

In the virtual world, however, one has to bring the Website to the customer. Every potential customer sits in front of the same computer – essentially the same physical location for ALL businesses on the Web.

The business that can effectively bring itself to that customer will succeed. All others will fail.

7 Ways To Bring The Store To The Customer

Let’s say you do a search for a Google keyword such as “luggage.” You’re likely to come up with tens of thousands, if not millions, of potential Websites, some selling luggage, others giving product reviews.

Will your site be among the ones Google or Yahoo finds? Not too likely, and if your site doesn’t appear in the top 10 or 20, on page one or two, the potential customer is not likely to go to page 3. Expecting her to find your site on page 150 is pretty much out of the question. She simply isn’t going to go there to find your store.

Consequently, you MUST bring it up in the search ranks … to her, where she is sitting, in front of the computer.

Ranking Your Site

Today, most people find what they're searching for using Google.

Google ranks your site primarily by how many links are located on other sites pointing to it, and the context in which your link is found. For example, if your site is about dogs, and your link is found in the context of dogs, that link will be more valuable than if it is found in some other context or in no context.

Bringing your store to your customers by improving your rankings requires a few techniques, and a lot of hard work. Here are seven suggestions for methods that are not “Catch-22,” i.e. don’t require traffic to get traffic.

1. Writing and marketing articles.

Google and other search engines rank a Website by how many “one-way” links point to it from other sites. Writing an article and publishing it in the many E-zine barns (and having it picked up by online E-zines specialized for your keywords) is an excellent way to get these one-way links

2. Reciprocal linking.

Find other Websites with similar subject matter to your own. Contact the Webmaster and arrange to post a link to your site in exchange for reciprocating -- posting a link to theirs on your site.

3. One-way links.

Do a search on your keyword and “add URL” or “add your site.” You will find sites you can add your link to.

4. Join a forum.

You can get banned by putting a link to your site in your posts, but if you put it in your bio and then post information frequently on the forum, you can go up in Google rankings.

5. Blogging.

Set up your own blogs with links to your sites to gain Google rank. Free software exists to do this.

6. Search Engine Optimization

Make your site “keyword rich” by including a written introduction with searchable keywords in it, optimize the site and submit it to the minor search engines. Software exists to help you with search engine optimization. Google analyzes rankings in minor search engines when assigning site rank.

7. Advertising with Google Adwords.

Adwords can put your site in front of the customer – on the right side of the search page, not on the left. People read from left to right, and will see the results of their search on the left first. Depending on your bid for the keywords, your ad may appear at the bottom of a stack of Adwords advertisements. Adwords can bring in sales, but costs can get out of hand and ultimately be disastrous.

Work Smart ... and Hard

Ninety-five percent of all Internet businesses fail. Articles have been written simply stating that this is due to lack of “hard work” on the part of the owner, who thought she was going to have a “turnkey” business that would immediately reap “astounding profits.”

While this may be true, there’s an old saying: “Work smart, not hard.” In the case of an Internet business, you're going to have do both. You're going to have to work smart by knowing the most effective means of bringing your store to your customers, and work hard …

The 5 Biggest Customer Service Blunders Of All Time

By Paul Levesque

Some businesses remain that manage to consistently deliver superior customer service year in and year out, while howls of protest over poor customer service continue to fill the air. These are the places where turbo-charged employees pursue customer delight with a passion, places that ignite a flash point of contagious enthusiasm in employees and customers alike. Foremost, to be learned from such flash point businesses are the ‘blunders’ to avoid—fatal mistakes that trip up just about everybody else.

First Blunder: Making Customer Service a Training Issue.

Businesses of all kinds invest huge amounts in training programs that do not—and simply cannot—work. The function of this training is to identify the behaviors workers are engaging in, and then coax, bully, or legislate these behaviors into the workplace. At best, this is almost always a recipe for conduct that feels mechanized and insincere; at worst, it intensifies worker resentment and cynicism.

The better approach is to give workers opportunities to brainstorm their own ideas for delivering delight, instead of dictating what workers should be doing to delight customers. Management’s role then becomes to help employees implement these ideas, and to allow workers to savor the motivational effect of the positive feedback that ensues from delighted customers. This level of employee ownership and involvement is a ‘key’ cultural characteristic of virtually all flashpoint businesses.

Second Blunder: Blaming Poor Service on Employee De-motivation.

Businesses looking for ways to motivate their workers almost always are looking in the wrong places. Employee cynicism is the direct product of an organization’s visible preoccupation with self-interest above all else—a purely internal focus. The focus in flashpoint businesses is directed outward, toward the interests of customers and the community at large. This shift in cultural focus changes the way the business operates at all levels.

The reality is that employees are de-motivated because they can’t deliver delight in most business settings. The existing policies and procedures make it impossible. Instead of “fixing” their employees, flashpoint business set out to build a culture that unblocks them. Workers are encouraged to identify operational obstacles to customer delight, and participate in finding ways around them.

Third Blunder: Using Customer Feedback to Uncover What’s Wrong.

Surveys and other feedback mechanisms are used by businesses to get to the causes of customer problems and complaints. Employees come to dread these measurements and data-gathering efforts, which often lead to what feels like witch-hunts for employee scapegoats, formal exercises in finger pointing and the assigning of blame. Flashpoint businesses use customer feedback very differently. In these organizations, the object is to uncover everything that’s going right. Managers are forever on the lookout for "hero stories" - examples of employees going the extra mile to deliver delight. Such feedback becomes the basis for ongoing recognition and celebration. Employees see themselves as winners on a winning team. In this type of workplace, there is always some new "win" being celebrated.

Fourth Blunder: Reserving Top Recognition for Splashy Recoveries.

It happens all the time; something goes terribly wrong with a customer order or transaction. The dedicated employee goes to tremendous lengths to make things right. The delighted customer brings this employee’s wonderful recovery to management’s attention. The employee receives special recognition for his or her efforts. This is a blunder?

It is when such recoveries are the primary—if not the only—catalysts for employee recognition. In such a culture, foul-ups become ‘almost a good thing’ from the workers’ point of view. By creating opportunities for splashy recoveries, foul-ups represent the only chance employees have to feel appreciated on the job. Attempts to correct operational problems won’t win much support if employees see these problems as their only opportunity to shine.

Flashpoint businesses celebrate splashy recoveries, of course—but they’re also careful to uncover and celebrate employee efforts to delight customers where no mistakes or problems were involved. This makes it easier to get workers participating in efforts to permanently eliminate the sources of problems at the systems level.

Fifth Blunder: Competing on Price.

It is one of the most common (and most costly) mistakes in business. Price becomes the deciding factor in purchasing decisions only when everything else is equal—and everything else is almost never equal! Businesses compete on the perception of value, which includes more than price. The total customer experience—and aspects such as “helpfulness,” “friendliness,” shapes it and “the personal touch” often gives the competitive advantage to businesses that actually charge slightly more for their basic goods and services.

Businesses that deliver a superior total experience from the inside out (that is, as a product of a strongly customer-focused culture) are those that enjoy a long-term competitive advantage—along with virtual immunity from the kinds of headaches that plague everybody else.

11 Things To Remember When Choosing A Conference Call Service

by Huzaili Aris

A conference call involves the communication between a calling party and more than one listener. There are numerous conference call services available, making it difficult to make a quick decision. The service that you choose will ultimately depend on the expectations and uses you wish get out of your conference calls. For some, only a few details matter, such as price, while others are in need of advanced services like on-the-spot technical support. Below are a few factors to consider when choosing the conference call service that is most compatible with your needs.

Business Conference Calls

When it comes time to report quarterly stats, many companies turn to conference calls. This allows them to communicate the ups and downs of their business to interested parties. A higher-level company executive, such as the CEO, often reads the company reports. Once the results are revealed, the call is then accessible for others to join in, namely stock analysts, who come with a slew of questions. Businesses may also use conference calls to promote their products or services. Seminar leaders may open a conference call to the public to share their marketing techniques or business strategies for free or a small price.

Entertainment-Based Conference Calls

Today, people are looking for more and more ways to make new friends or find the companion of their dreams. When bars and clubs get to be too much, the allure of chatting on a "party line" becomes increasingly appealing. Entertainment-based conference calls are used to provide a break from boredom, as well as a way to socialize with others. Participants call a phone number set aside for this purpose and are plugged into a whole new world of mingling and flirting.

Audio vs. Visual

Audio conference calls are less expensive and require less equipment than visual conferencing. Web conference calls also open up a host of potential problems, such as malfunctioning chat, instant message, and web cam services. Streaming video may also pose concerns. Although the capabilities of visual conference calls are vast and have a better way of getting the point across, depending on your intended audience, the concept might be too advanced.

To use visual conferencing as a business tool, you will also have to familiarize yourself with an assortment of software selections and other online options. Learning visual conferencing techniques is a process. For example, include too many large files and you may end up with a communication problem.

Conference Call Limitations

What kind of conference call do you want? Some services allow the called party to speak during a call, while other selections only allow called parties to listen to what is being said.

Conference Call Set-Up

Do you want to control how conference calls are received and made? Calling parties can place calls to desired participants or entrance to a call is gained by calling a special phone number.

Reservation vs Non-Reservation

When you choose a service offering reservation-less conference calls, you will enjoy more freedom. Calls can be placed at any time without speaking to an operator or setting up an appointment. Reservation services require you to schedule your call ahead of time.

Conference Call Commands

What sort of capabilities do calling parties have when choosing a service? Things to consider include the ability to get operator assistance, mute and unmute participants, alter ringing tones and record conversations.

Call Planning is Essential

Knowing how long your conference call will be allows you to shuffle along participants to meet time expectations. As a rule of thumb, a conference call centers on an hour or more. Larger groups demand longer time frames, but without the use of video, it is difficult to keep the interest of all participants.

Usually, about 1-3 minutes are given to each participant to voice his or her opinions. Often, an hour-long conversation handles about 1-2 topics. Another important factor pertaining to conference calls is to prepare for last-minute technical issues. Be aware of applicable time zones and schedule a conference call that will accommodate all of your desired participants. When choosing a service, make sure all customer and technical support will be handled in a timely manner.

Billing Plans

Accepting a variety of credit cards, some services offer per minute pricing plans. Once the conference call is completed, a call summary is emailed to you with all of the details. Applicable charges are then placed on your credit card. Additional plans include flat rate unlimited and monthly plans. Some companies offer a flat monthly rate of $60 for a maximum of five people that allows unlimited usage for the month.

Special Services

Will the conference call service you choose provide you with extra services? Depending on your needs, you may desire to have a taped recording of your conference call. Some services offer this luxury for a flat fee (around $25). Some charge an hourly rate if you wish to have a transcript of your call. Rebroadcasts are also offered through some services for a fee. For an extra charge, operator assistance might be available, which helps with the moderation of conference calls.

Several Conference Call Service Companies Reviewed

Accu Conference : This on-demand, fully automated toll-free service offers reservation-less service, free call recordings and live in-call web control for 9.9 cents per line. Operator service costs 13.9 cents. Unlimited use, flat-rate conferencing is offered, starting at $99 per month.

No Cost Conference : Offers free, reservation-less conference call capabilities, available 24 hours a day. You will receive a pin and dial-in phone number once a quick registration is completed. Free and cheap conference call services are good for short notice calls and limited budgets. With this option, reliability of service does become a concern.

WebEx : Offers conference call services, as well as helpful products, such as Meeting Center, Training Center, Support Center and Sales Center. They offer different solutions to better serve small, medium and large companies. They also offer decent live technical support and pay-per-use services.

OnConference : This service offers no set-up fee and has a listed price of 19 cents per minute per person with or without toll-free access.

Contact Call : Highly recommended for their operator-assisted services.

When you conduct careful comparisons and research on the many conference call services, you will be able to take advantage of a wealth of savings that regular phone services cannot provide.

InfoPreneur Secrets - How To Persuade People To JV With You

by James Penn

This is one article in the series of InfoPreneur Secrets which discusses tips, tricks, techniques and secrets to be a successful info product creator and marketer. This article will discuss how to effectively persuade authorities in your niche to joint venture with you in promotion of your info product.

Joint ventures are powerful things. They enable you to leverage the resources of other people to generate profits for yourself. What a great business model! Other people promote your products, you keep half of the money.

Here are some tips to get people to JV with you:

*	First contact – The first time you contact a potential JV partner should not be asking for them to promote your product. You first need to build a relationship with them. Your first email could either introduce you and your business, or it could offer your potential partner assistance. Offer to write some articles for them or to help them with any tasks they don’t want to do. If you help them initially, they’ll be more likely to promote your product later on.

*	Personalize your JV email – Once you feel you are ready to contact a potential partner, make sure the email you send is personalized. Refer to their websites and their activities. Use their name throughout the email.

*	Create an offer too good to refuse – Make an offer to your potential JV partner so good they won’t be able to refuse it. You could offer them some unique articles if they promote, you could offer them an increased affiliate commission, you could offer them a reciprocal mailing (i.e. you promote one of their products to your list).

Approaching JV partners is an art form. It’s impossible for me to sum up everything in this short article, but hopefully it will help you when you approach your next (or first) JV partner.

InfoPreneur Secrets - LEVERAGE The Resources Of Others For Explosive Wealth

by James Penn

This is one article in the series of "InfoPreneur Secrets" which discusses tips, tricks, techniques and secrets to be a successful info product creator and marketer. This article will discuss the importance of leveraging the resources of others to literally explode your sales without much additional effort on your part.

Let me ask you a question:

What’s better than ONLY YOU promoting your product and generating sales for your info product?

Answer: Hundreds, even thousands, of marketers marketing your product FOR YOU for free!

Let us look at one of the most successful internet marketing products ever, ‘The Rich Jerk’. This is the ultimate example of a marketer effectively leveraging the resources of others.

I bet ‘The Rich Jerk’ himself doesn’t make a whole lot of sales, but he has thousands of affiliates promoting HIS products for HIM in exchange for a percentage of the sale. It’s the perfect business model for both the affiliate and the vendor.

The affiliate gets money without having to create a product. The vendor makes sales of his product that he wouldn’t otherwise have made.

The Rich Jerk is one of the must sold internet marketing info products simply because he has a huge affiliate force.

I’d rather have one thousand affiliates promoting my product passively than just have me marketing my own product aggressively.

You are limited in what you can achieve on your own. Remember that. But with the help of others, you can accelerate your internet marketing efforts by LEVERAGING the resources of others.

Tips on Encouraging Forum Conversation

by CD Mohatta

There are many effective little techniques that encourage forum posting. One of the tricks that helps to encourage forum conversation is to end some of your posts with leading questions. "What do you think?" "How do you do it?" "Does anyone know how to ____?" Questions give an easy opening for the next person to post, just as they help foster conversation in real life.

If you start a new thread, it often is more successful if your first post is short and asks a question, as opposed to being several paragraphs in length that cover a topic more thoroughly. This is kind of surprising because you might have thought a longer post would be more intriguing, but try it and see! You'll notice a difference. So, even if you've thought about a topic a lot, try not to say much in the first post. This lets other people be "experts" too, and they will enjoy the conversation.

In writing classes they often teach you to write strong. Strong writing is well thought out, authoritative, doesn't use the word "I," has good grammar, spelling, and punctuation. But on a forum, it can intimidate others so that they won't post. If instead you say, "I think," "Gosh, how do you spell that?", include personal stuff, and so forth, it makes the writing less formal and more like you're sitting across the cafe table from an old friend! This makes others comfortable so they are more likely to open up.

Compliments about what someone posted before you also helps many of the readers to be comfortable posting because they interpret it as a friendly, gentle place. Whether face to face or online, other people will like it when they receive positive comments or are asked questions. It simply makes people feel like they are being listened to, and we all like that!

Timing is also important in encouraging good conversation on a forum. It's better to post two or three responses at a time every three or four hours, than to sit down once each evening to post because it keeps the forum fresh and people get the feeling someone is always there for them to talk to. If they check in an hour or two after they posted and they see responses, well, of course they'll be more likely to get involved in the forum than if they have to wait a day for a response.

Using Forums to Get Back Links

by Sean R Mize

With the present trend in marketing and online business, competition to get the a higher and better ranking is getting stiffer and a lot more complex. In order to attain the best traffic on the net, a lot of marketers and businessmen are engaging into so many highly tremendous methods of marketing. One of the most sought-after marketing tools that many are trying to experiment on is the search engine optimization, particularly the off page optimization process. You may be asking, why search engine optimization? What features does off page optimization have to be considered as one of the most sought-after marketing tools? Well, the answer to that is very basic and fundamental - traffic driven by back links.

Back links are the most essential means of generating traffic on a site nowadays. A lot of marketers and business people have seen the strong potential of off page optimization to obtain successfully numerous quality back links on a site more than its contemporaries. Back links are link addresses that you are able to generate from sites that wish to start a connection with your site. Usually, this happens under the method of SEO that requires it to be done outside the main content of the site - thus, off page optimization.

One of the best ways to get back links is through the use of the forum. If you are able to publish your message on the forum sites where you are a member, you are given the opportunity to include on the message some of your relevant information such as the company name which you represent, as well as a bit of personal information such as your name and your e-mail address. You will be given this opportunity when forum masters see your contribution to the forum site as something that is indispensable. In order to continue getting such opportunity, you continue to submit postings that contain relevancy and pertinence.

As additional information, if you are serious about generating more back links from forum sites, engage yourself into more than one forum site and allot time for each individual site. In that case, you have far better opportunity to gain mileage with considerably more net users.

4 Surefire Ways To Get Your Banner Ads Clicked

4 Surefire Ways To Get Your Banner Ads Clicked

by Fendi Salim

Many people have grown to believe that banner advertising is not effective anymore. That could be good news for the astute advertiser. All they have to do is improve on their current banner advertising methods and achieve that highly-desired click-through rate with less competition to worry about.

Banner advertising has been one of the most commonly-used marketing methods online. Stick to it with these 4 surefire ways to get your banner ads clicked.

Surefire Way #1 - Make Use Of Power Words That Trigger Action

Make use of power words like "Free", "Gratis", "No Cost", "Click Here", "Look Here" in your banners.

These power words will induce readers to take action and click on your banner.

Surefire Way #2 - Make Use Of Brief And Hard-Hitting Headlines

Your headline should be brief and hard-hitting. Your headline should be "talking" to your readers and offer them a way out of whatever problems they are dealing with while offering the desired benefits.

If you are offering bodybuilding products, try "Achieve a 6-pack in 28 Days!". Mix this kind of text with attention-pulling graphics to create that winning formula.

Surefire Way #3 - Make Use Of Animation In Your Banners

Stop using static banners and work on animated banners instead. Animated banners catch the attention of more readers and get more clicks.

An example of an appealing animated banner is a banner which has the text "Absolutely Free" flashing. Wouldn't that gets your attention?

Surefire Way #4 - Make Use Of Better Graphics

You simply do not have to be a graphic artist to have good-looking banners. Simple banners can be created on-the-go by most people, but having unique and excellent ones require better graphics by either educating yourself in graphic design or by hiring a professional.

Either hire a professional graphic designer to create that banner-- which should cost you no more than $50 per banner--or buy ready-made graphics to create one yourself.

6 Hot Forum Marketing Tips

by Jon Roussel

When you are beginning your internet network marketing business, it is likely that you will be on a shoestring budget. One of the first things that you need to do with internet marketing is to build your own list. This list will be comprised of targeted prospects that are interested in the niche market that your business focuses on.

Participating in forums is an excellent way to quickly begin generating targeted traffic. Responsible and targeted forum marketing can help you do this. You need to find forums related to your niche market. Posting frequently and answering members' questions is the first forum marketing tip. Put your unique selling proposition in your signature with a link to your website. If people like what you have to say, they will visit your website. This article discusses six forum marketing tips to help you build that targeted list.

Forums are online communities where members interact with each other through posts. A distinguishing characteristic of a forum is its specificity. Forum threads are very topic-specific. These threads discuss one topic only.

Here are six forum marketing tips to help you generate ongoing targeted traffic.

1. Determine your expertise and find appropriate forums that you can join. Look for active forums that have topics related to your business or expertise. Create new threads there, offer your knowledge, and help others--frequently. This will build your integrity and expertise.

2. Create a linked signature and include it at the end of your posts. Do not use an affiliate link.. You can use this to sign your posts. This signature must lead to your web site. The traffic you generate from it is very highly targeted.

3. Manage your forum affiliations. Do not try to post replies or threads in every forum. Find five to seven forums where you will become active and then ramp up so you make at least five forum posts daily.

4. Create interesting threads on the latest 'hot' topics. You will see that a lot of people are talking about a certain problem and are trying to find the right solutions for it. You can create a thread which offers your solution in a step-by-step format. This will continue to build your integrity and expertise.

5. Reply to existing topics with quality answers. Look for questions which people post because they want to know more information about it. Reply to the topic with a quality answer. If you do this often, people will look to you as an expert and will start to respect your opinions. They will then enter your prospecting funnel to get more information from you because they trust you.

6. Use a system to save and track your forums and posts such as Forum Fortunes, which saves a lot of time because it saves and tracks all of your posts and forums.

Following these forum marketing tips will help you establish yourself as an expert, develop trust and build relationships. Many people will contact and join you because of the information, help and assistance you continue to provide.

Web 3.0 - The Future is Here

by Sherwin F Shao

What is this mystical thing called Web 3.0 that everybody is waiting for? It's like the silhouette of a stranger through the dense fog. Man or Monster? Friend or Foe? That is the nature of predicting the future. From afar, everything looks good. From up close, it's a mess. The good news is we can affect the future, the future is not some inevitable result assigned to us.

What will Web 3.0 look like? Let's start with how the web has evolved and go from there.

What happened?

In the old days, you really needed to read a whole book to get all the nuggets of knowledge from an author. With search engines, you can get to what you need faster and faster. So more people can now publish more ideas. Referred to as Web 1.0, static
