Find the Best-Rated Home Based Business for You

By Dan

If there is one troublesome thing about a home based business, it is deciding what kind of business to start. There are many different ways to start a home based business, and many different questions you must ask yourself before deciding. You also need to figure out what options are within your reach, and what are the advantages and disadvantages of each one. There are several kinds of home based business opportunities, each one claiming to be the "best rated home based business" you can find. The big question is "what is best for you"?

On the internet, there is no shortage of the so-called best-rated home based business. From affiliate marketing, to making money with blogs, to creating your own product, you could find information on every kind of home business you could think of. You can also check the classifieds section in your newspaper and see what opportunities are available to you.

Start figuring out what you can do to start earning money on the internet, and create a list of opportunities that interest you. The next thing is to research every opportunity you find. Read reviews on it, read online forums, and find information about it. Find any kind of information you can about that opportunity. You cannot dive head first into a home business without knowing what you are getting.

One important thing to find out is how much start-up capital it costs, and any other expenses it could potentially cost. If you start a website, you are going to have to pay for the domain name and web hosting. Some opportunities include a membership or upgrade fee if you join a program or company. Decide how much money you are willing to spend to start your business.

Another thing to research is how much work and dedication it takes to succeed in that business. Also, determine how much business experience it requires to succeed, and compare that with your own experience. If you have little or no experience, then you should see if the opportunity comes with some help, training, or support to help the newcomers.

Whatever you decide, it should be a business you are willing to put enough effort into to ensure its success. If you choose an opportunity and decide it is a flop, you just wasted a lot of precious time, effort, and money.

Once you find what you consider the best-rated home based business; all you have to do is start it, and make it succeed.

Make Money on EBay ~ How to Cut Costs

by Bob Hamilton

Let us face it, eBay buyers want to find bargains when they make purchases on eBay. Those bargains equate to high quality items for low prices. For the seller who simply views selling on eBay as a hobby, or as a method to clear out excess items from their house, attic, or garage, getting any amount of money from items is a bonus.

For the seller who views eBay as a business and wants to make money on eBay selling at bargain prices creates a challenge. For that seller, he purchases items for resale with the goal of making a profit on every sale every time.

The secret to make money on eBay and still offer bargains for your buyers is lowering the costs associated with products that you purchase for resale. In fact, the goal is to buy at a low enough prices so profits are possible, even while selling to bargain hunters. The well-informed seller must pay the lowest possible price while minimizing associated sales cost.

There are several actions you can take to reduce the price of items sellers purchase for resale. Each of the strategies following can greatly reduce the cost-of-goods-sold for the seller with a goal to make money on eBay.

• Combine Orders
Just as many buyers on eBay will make multiple purchases and then combine shipping to reduce cost, so can you. Often there will be excess room remaining in boxes and on pallets of merchandise you have purchased. Use that room for additional products. Often those extra products will cost almost nothing to ship. That is especially true when you buy pallet loads.

• Buy Wholesaler Closeouts and Specials
Wholesalers often offer closeouts and specials to move excess or end-of-life merchandise. The discounts can be significant. Just be sure there is a market for the products you purchase. Use this strategy in combination with combining orders. You could save a boatload of money!

• Negotiate for a Lower Price
Many wholesalers are willing to negotiate for lower prices. Typically the trigger to make this happen is to increase the quantity in the order. Just be sure that you do not purchase so much of an item that you cannot profitably resell. One of the worst things to have happen would be to have five-thousand left-handed flanges sitting in your garage for the next 20-years!

• Split Wholesale Purchases with Other Sellers
We have used this strategy. We have split loads of merchandise and freight costs with others. This strategy requires developing enough trust so that both feel there will be a fair and equitable deal. It works especially well with sellers who are in marketplaces other than eBay.

• Cherry Pick Loads and Resell the Rest to Others
Caution: this strategy does require some labor. It opens the opportunity to make discounted purchases of mixed lots. Upon receipt of the merchandise, simply inspect, and remove the products that fit your needs. Inventory the balance and resell it on the wholesale market.

Each of these strategies has some real strength and can work for you. However, be cautious that you are not simply buying a wholesaler's problems. If you do, those problems can sit in your basement, garage, or warehouse eternally as merchandise you cannot sell. With care and planning, you can make money on eBay by using these strategies.

To make money on eBay requires that sellers never lose sight of profit. The goal is to minimize the cost of goods sold. Reducing the price that you pay for items allows your buyers to get a bargain and you to make money on eBay.

How to Choose the Right EBay Product Category.

By Kirsten Hawkins

Some people think it is easy to choose the right eBay category, and often it is. Sometimes, though, it might not be quite clear exactly where to look.

Why is it Even Important?

Many people use the category system to find items, when they are not looking for something specific. If you list the item in the wrong category - or you have just given up and listed it in 'Everything Else' - then these people are not going to find your auction.

In addition, listing items in the wrong categories is against eBay's rules. EBay says they will remove any auctions that are in the wrong categories. They do not often do this, but it is not worth the risk - especially since breaking any rules can cause them to penalize your account, including losing PowerSeller status if you have it.

So What Can You Do?

EBay will suggest categories for you when you sell your item, if you type in a few words to describe the item on the category selection page and click 'search'. You can make the best of this feature by typing in exactly what your item is, with brand name and model number (if any), so that eBay can find the best category for you.

If that does not work for you, then search yourself for items like yours, and pay attention to which category most of them seem to be in (you can see this near the top of each item's description page). Try different words and see which ones come back with the most results. You can also browse through all the available categories from eBay's front page.

Remember the more specific the category is the better - use as many subcategories as are appropriate. Do not just list your HP laptop in the 'Computers' category, for example - list it in 'Computers > Laptops > HP'. Do not worry: your item will still appear in the 'Computers' category, as well as 'Computers > Laptops', because items listed in subcategories will list in every category above.

Take some time to look through all the categories and get familiar with the way eBay, as a whole, is structured. After all, that is better than a few months down the line and you find that you still think of eBay's category system as some scary jungle.

What if More Than One Category Fits?

Do not worry, eBay has you covered. For a small extra fee, you can list your item in an extra category, to increase the number of potential buyers who will see it. This is not always worth it, though - some items only really fit properly in one category, and listing them in extra categories is a waste.

Once you know where to list your item, the next step is to write your auction's title. The title is the most important thing about your auction - the difference between a good title and a bad title can be the difference between $10 and $100. That is why I will take you through the dos and don'ts in the next email.

The Crazy Numbers Behind Pop-Under Ads

by Terry Detty

The math or numbers behind pop-up, pop-under ads are amazing. This clearly indicates why many webmasters favor this online marketing tool over many others, especially when looking for quick results. Pop-up ads are also a very cost effective solution to send unlimited web traffic and visitors to your website. While being cost effective with this marketing selection, you will get thousands of people to actually see and visit your web site at the time they are looking for your type of products or services.

Every webmaster or blogger clearly understands how important page views are. The higher the number of page views you can achieve at your web site, the more profitable a web site or blog site will tend to be.

It does not matter whether you are selling your own products, or promoting an affiliate program, or other people's products, the results and positive impact tend to be the same. While an individual may be visiting your particular web page, this pop-up or pop-under may occur, causing that person to view the products you are selling. This is so significant because your visitors are not just any visitors. They are unique visitors, who are interested in and looking for your product.

If you are talking about earnings from the Google Adsense PPC program, the effect will hardly be different. The more page views on your Adsense pages, the higher the chances of the ads on your site you can click, and therefore the higher the earnings. Page views are a very important measurement in Google Adsense accounts. Thus, any pop-up or pop-under ad that is relevant and promises information is more valuable to visitors to a web site and is bound to yield excellent results.

The interesting thing here is the impact that you achieve from just a small percentage increase in page views. For instance, an increase of just 10 per cent of your page views will quickly register positive changes in your sales and earnings. The impact can be huge from a simple 20 per cent increase. Fifty per cent can easily send your sales and profits through the roof.

The facts are pop-up ads and pop-under ads have the potential to double or triple page views. This is an increase of 100 to 200 per cent. Online businesses MUST have visitors and traffic to visit their websites in order to generate online sales. The more targeted and timely that traffic, the higher the probability of making a sale to those visitors.

Now, begin to imagine what sort of difference this can have on the revenue you receive at your web site. If you ensure your whole pop-up and pop-under ad campaign is carried out and managed professionally while observing all the key rules to success, then this online marketing tool can make a colossal difference in the fortunes of any web based enterprise.

Three Common Mistakes to Avoid Before Starting an Online Business

By Devin Dozier

Starting an online business can be an exciting adventure. It can create wealth, financial security, and give you loads of time to spend with your family. I mean, who would not want to earn an extra $500-$2,000 a month with their own online business?

However, before you jump into a business online, you must avoid three common mistakes where most people fall victim.

#1: Unrealistic Expectations - With so many websites claiming you can make thousands of dollars overnight, it is very easy to believe the hype. It is not impossible with the programs these websites are promoting. Most people on average do not make it as quickly as they claim. I am sure that a few have made thousands in just days, but realistically that is not the norm. No matter what you hear anyone say, "Making money online takes work!"

This business is just like any other. You must put in the time, money, and effort to make it profitable. Some online businesses require less work than others do, but all take work. If it were possible to throw a website up and make millions, then everyone would do it.

The speed at which you will start making money from your online business depends on how much time and money you have to invest. If you have no money, then you are going to have to roll up your sleeves and put in some work. If you did have some money to start with, it may take longer, but you will get to your destination eventually.

#2: No Goals - Having short-term and long-term goals for your online business is critical. Your goals mark your path and help you stay on track. Sadly, 97% of the people who start an online business are stuck on the hype of making millions tomorrow, and they do not have time to set realistic goals. While the other 3% of people, who did set goals, are making a large profit.

Goals will keep you moving forward, even when times get rough, and times do sometimes get rough. Establish a three, six, and 12-month goal right from the beginning. This way you will know where you are in relation to where you want to be.

Without goals, you are like a little angler's boat floating in a HUGE ocean. When the waters start roaring, you are destined to sink.

#3: Not Seeking Support - You are not alone. There are millions of other people, just like you, trying to make money online. In addition, the saying "Two heads are better than one" is very true.

All successful professionals have a support network. Whether it is a coach, colleague, partner, or friend they have someone who can help them generate ideas. I have a close network of online entrepreneur that I rely on to keep me informed on new techniques.

If you do not have support, you will lose your edge and eventually become obsolete. You do not need to hire an online coach, but you should seek out free online support groups who can assist you when you have a question or need advice. There are free support groups all over the net that you can easily tap. I have a great online money making group that is forming right now. It is called Loot Swoop and this will be a great opportunity for you to learn and contribute. It is free to join. Just go to it and sign in.

Having support will help you to keep focused and realize that others are trying to make it too.

If you can avoid these three mistakes, then you will be well on your way to making money with your online business. Always remember that whatever trials may come, persistence is the key to success!

Making the Most of your Online Promotion

By Jenn Richards

If you are looking to make money online, or to make more money via the net, it is important to make sure you are getting the highest possible amount from every sale you send. The payment variations between the programs you choose can mean the difference between a successful online marketing career, and a frustrating waste of time and effort.

The differences in affiliate programs' payouts can be immense. Some will pay a tiny percentage and will not credit you with further sales. Others pay commissions in the hundreds of dollars for a single sale, and credit you with any further purchases from the customers you send to them. Generating quality traffic is not easy, so why push those hard-earned visitors towards sponsors who will only pay you a few dollars per sale.

Contrary to the old business clichι, in internet marketing, "what you know" is very important indeed. Finding the amazing opportunities is not easy. It is a competitive market. When marketers strike a golden niche, they are going to keep quiet about it. So how do you find the high paying niche products? You can check industry forums, hoping for a generous soul to give up the goods, but it is not likely to happen. The good news is there are affiliate membership sites designed to inform you on the latest, most profitable opportunities. Successful affiliate marketing is dependant on three factors:

1. The market potential - The size of the market, the competition, and the quality of the offering
2. The profit potential - What is the cost per sale? What is your commission?
3. The support you receive to promote the product.

A site addresses these factors head on. A team of e-commerce professionals guide affiliate marketers towards some of the most profitable products to promote on the net. It has produced www.MakingYouRicher.com (MYR). MYR Membership comes with a guide to create sites that sell, and how to profit from just about any niche. The members' area updates with highly profitable offerings, as they find them, and they supply all the tools required to start.

The products they find can pay as much as $175 for a single sale, and with free website templates and professionally written content, you do not need to be an expert in the niche to get started. MYR's reputation is impressive, with some of their members making up to US $80k per month in commission.

We All Know About S.E.O., But What is C.S.O.?

By Nicholas Busbee

C.S.O. is "Common Sense Optimization."

I have said it before, keywords, meta tags, and advertisements are great for getting visitors to your website. However, they will not sell products or services.

Converting visitors into customers takes "C.S.O.", Common Sense Optimization. In order to have higher website sales conversion rates, you must optimize your content for the human mind.

This means; we need to write our content to appeal to the psychological side of selling. Great deals of potential customer's decisions to make a purchase are based on emotional factors.

Now let me clearly state that I am in no way suggesting that anyone try to manipulate another person's emotions for personal gain. That would not be a good thing to do.

However, as online entrepreneurs, I believe we do have to recognize emotional factors at the point of sale.

We do not have the advantage of a smiling face, firm handshake, or a pleasant customer service representative on our websites.

In addition, most of us do not have famous celebrities to represent our products. However, what we all have is "personality." What is the most efficient way to develop "Web Personality?"

I am glad you asked! Always remember this...

"In life the best way to demonstrate your greatest qualities, (your personality), is to show concern for others." In addition, I do not mean from a business perspective. I am talking about from a personal perspective.

When you develop your content, no matter what you are selling, try to write your content from a "in your customers best interest perspective." Every topic that you approach, try to write it from your customers best interest perspective.

Every time we make a purchase, it changes our lives. Either it adds something to our lives or it takes something away from us. Some purchases take money away from us.

In addition, some purchases give us peace of mind, prestige, entertainment, comfort, knowledge, companionship, and assistance.

If you will notice, none of these are material things. They can all be gained through material things (temporarily) but these are all internal stimuli. Subject to the eye of the beholder.

Whatever you are selling, will change the purchaser's life, one way or another.

Your content needs to emphasize the many different levels of how your product or service, can improve their lives.

To optimize your copy for people, you have to find out what most people have in common with each other. What DO most people have in common?

I am glad you asked!

Feelings. Feelings. Feelings!

We all have FEELINGS. Just in different proportions!

Next time we will discuss exactly how we can develop our copy to give the highest priority to how our customers may be "feeling" at the point of purchase and when they initially get to our landing pages. Thanks for your attention.

What is C.S.O.? "Common Sense Optimization."

Ten Ways to Get Traffic to Your Website

By Cheow Yu Yuan

There are many ways to increase traffic to your website. You do not have to pay every time.

After some research, I have come out with some methods to drive traffic. Below are some of the ways, which you can group into two main categories: Free and Paid.

Free Ways:
1) Listing of self-created advertisement posts on classified sites. Choose only classified sites, which allow your listings to appear on the top once you update your posts. In this way, people will have a higher chance to view your posts.

2) Conduct cross-linking campaigns with other webmasters who have similar content with your website. Contact them and ask for a reciprocal link exchange. Make sure that your link appears on their pages, which Google indexes.

3) Give away free report/ebook and distribute them actively. Include your website URL and products/services in your free report/ebook.

4) Use article marketing. Write articles about your business industry and submit them to article directories regularly. Include your website URL in the author's resource box and remember to allow viewers to republish your articles freely.

5) Participate in forums and include your website URL in your signature.

6) Apply SEO techniques on your website so that it will rank well in the organic results for various search engines.

7) Submit to all available search engines, esp. Google, Yahoo, and MSN so that they will index your website.

8) Use viral marketing techniques (E.g. "Tell Your Friends" function)

Paid Ways:
9) Use the PPC (Pay Per Click) model by Google. (Google Adwords) Be sure to know what you want to achieve through this PPC campaigns before your start. Do you want to create awareness or generate sales?

10) Online ads banner to create awareness and drive traffic to your website.

More $$$ with Niche Marketing

By Jenn Richards

Affiliate marketing and working with niche markets is the way to go, today, if you are young and eager to make a lot of money. I am not saying that affiliate marketers never have to work a single day in their lives, or just rake in the cash while sitting out by the pool. There are tremendous benefits to this job. Do you hate going to work every day? Commuting, whether by car or mass transit, is an absolute bore. The hours you spend every week commuting are lost hours that you will never get back before you die. Do you want to choose something better?

The best thing about affiliate marketing is the freedom to work in a relaxing environment. Your home desk, even the kitchen table becomes your "office", or how about "a table by the pool"? Everyday is a "holiday" --- all your tools are concentrated in the computer. No paperwork to shift around from one desk to another, and the earnings are on par with the setting. The more effort you are willing to put in to building and maintaining a niche website, the more money that comes in daily. If this is not a good deal, then I do not know what a good deal could be.

Some people think that affiliate marketing is too much work, and that splashing some AdSense ads on a page is far easier, it might be so. However, how much money can you get out of AdSense? Two or three dollars a day? Come on, that is not money but loose change! Affiliate marketing may be a bit harder than AdSense, but this is where people actually spend money. If you play with the big boys, you could make as much as $175 per sale. That is an equivalent of 58.3 days of AdSense, at $3 per day, you can make in one day.

Many people do not realize the global economy is going through a huge spending period. Across the world, people are willing to pay good money for all kinds of products and the Internet made spending money easier than ever. ECommerce has made it possible for people to buy things. Orders pour in and products and services move across countries because people can search the Internet for answers to their problems and are willing to pay for solutions, regardless of where they come from.

It is like a river of money moving across the planet and you can become one of those who help connect the buyers with vendors and cash in commission while never leaving their armchairs. The gap between offer and demand is huge. There are far more people with money out there than there are people who sell things. The key is to find products with low representation, in high demand, and that pay high. Until now, affiliate information packages did not address this. Many of the marketing programs out there are about re-selling the program you have just purchased.

However, things are about to change for you because MakingYouRicher is on the way. MakingYouRicher is a comprehensive guide on niche marketing. It teaches you how to make thousands a month by learning where to find the highest paying products that millions search. Visit www.makingyouricher.com/index.html and see for yourself all the opportunities that are only waiting for a quick-witted marketer to take advantage of, and get rich fast.

Retired - And Getting Rich Online

By Hasnuddin Hamdan

(c) 2007, EMarketSociety.com, Hasnuddin Hamdan

If you are retired, it does not mean your days of making money are over. Sure, you will be getting money each month from different sources such, as a pension plan. However, pension plans can hardly cover living expenses, nowadays. Coupled with longer life expectancies, you will probably need to do something to have sufficient means for existence.
Five Tips for Finding Hot Products to Sell On eBay!

By Newspub

You decide to utilize the number one auction site on the World Wide Web, to market your goods and services. It can be risky, as well as, a scary proposition. You will need to do your homework to see if what you have to offer falls into the list of "Hot Items" to sell. Without some research, your success will be hypothetical at best. Without realizing some profits, the recurring fees just mount up, as you watch your advertising budget fly out the window. If you do not have an in demand product or service, you have no one bidding, consequently you have no sales.

So where do you start? What products would be on the list of "Hot Items" to sell? Below, I have compiled a small list of tips to start you off.

1. Keep your finger on the pulse of the marketplace. Read magazines, newspaper classifieds, and pay attention to TV and radio commercials. What is being marketed the most? Do not rely on what you already know. Go beyond that. How are advertisers competing? Whatever it is, chances are it is a hot market. If you feel there is too much competition, then do something that can enhance it. For instance, iPods and MP3's are "Hot" right now. You could put together an eBook with all the sources for those items listed in it to aid your customer in their search for the best possible prices. See what folks are looking for and give it to them.

2. EBay has an extensive collection of tools associated with your sellers account. Run a search to see what is being sold and for how much. Determine if you can compete with the selling price. Human nature says that the masses will go for the best possible price. Everybody loves a bargain. However, if you've gone the distance with your product and made it just a little bit better than most, or if you've offered some bonuses that add real value to their purchase, chances are you'll win the bid and make the sale.

3. The Internet refers to 'The Information Super Highway' for many reasons. With all these resources at your fingertips, this would be a good first choice for researching your campaign. Google, Overture, Yahoo, and any number of other search engines can give you some eye opening facts regarding the number of times you search for a particular item. You could also go to nichebot.com and utilize the Keyword Discovery Tool, among others, at their site. Andale.com is an eBay tool, which is a pay site, as is the Keyword Discovery Tool on icebot. If you can afford it, they are highly recommended. If you take a bit of time, the information you can compile will be worth its weight in gold. It will mean the success or failure of your campaign.

4. Keep in mind that most of what is popular in the Real World will be popular on eBay. Entertainment is immensely popular; sports items and memorabilia, music, movies, and all their electronic counterparts. The list is huge as are the profits.

5. If you have been following the latest technological developments, you may want to try your hand at speculation by putting a plan in motion to benefit you before they are actually released. Simply use the tips above and make your plan accordingly.

Now you can cash in on the "Exploding e-Book marketing craze!" If you sell any product or service online, here is how to make your business highly profitable - FAST -- http://best-resale-deal-ever.com/Books4Ebay.html

Learn An Internet Moneymaking Skill Set, 99% Of The Rest Of The World Knows
Nothing About!

By Doug Allan Dammeier

I am talking about the skill of learning how to build an internet business website
constructed in a way that it brings hordes of FREE traffic to it.

Just about anyone can build a good-looking website on the internet these days with the
available technology. However, very few people know how to construct a website that is
"optimized" to drive FREE traffic to it.

Huge well-known companies with unlimited budgets continue to build fancy websites
that get no visitors! They hire degreed computer experts for thousands of dollars who
know how to pull all the software programs together and build a beautiful site.

These "experts" have the technical knowledge to accomplish this, but they know
absolutely noting about how to drive FREE traffic to these sites. In addition, traffic
equals money.

They do not know optimization and they do not know marketing.

However, anyone who takes the time to learn what the internet search engines really want
on a website will pass by all these so-called expert websites and build a website that
drives boatloads of FREE traffic to it. In addition, this can be done for very little money.

The search engines could care less about fancy flashing graphics, colorful banners, and
color pictures. What they want is CONTENT!

Simply put, content is INFORMATION. Web surfers are on the internet for one
reason...to find INFORMATION.

They type in the subject of the information they want to know more about, at the search
engines. They want information about their hobbies, interests, and occupations.

Offline businesses succeed with LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION. Online
businesses succeed with INFORMATION, INFORMATION, INFORMATION.

I know of a 14-year-old teenage girl who built a website about a vacation place she loves
and constructed it the way the search engines love. Her site now ranks higher on the
internet than sites from IBM, American Express, and Wal-Mart. That is amazing!

This girl is beginning college now and she earns a terrific income from this site. She has
learned a moneymaking skill set, which 99% of the rest of world knows nothing about
and her future is secure.

Building a moneymaking internet business is not rocket science. You do not need any
type of degree. It is simply a matter of taking the time to learn a proven system of website
construction, and then taking the actions necessary to build the site. Anyone who can read
and learn can do this.

Software packages are now available with all the tools needed that allow any beginner to
create professional looking websites that bring traffic.

It takes work. If it were easy, everyone would be doing it. However, it is simple and can
be done with a systematic system. It is a real business just like any offline business.
However, it can be started for a tiny fraction of the cost of most businesses.

For a few hundred dollars, you can have everything you need. In addition, it can be
grown to produce unlimited income while working from your home.

You will not get rich by the end of the month. There are so many b.s. scammers on the
internet offering their get-rich-quick programs. They tell you that you can quit your job,
stay home, and sleep while the money is pouring into your bank account. They tell you
that you will have your new website up, running, and pulling in the dollars in a few
weeks.

It is bull! There is no other way to say it. These programs flat out do not work.

Many people buy these programs, make no money, and then give up. They are convinced
the internet will not work for them.

It does work, my friend. In addition, with the right information and system, it works
fantastic.

In addition, no matter how old you are, where you live, what you do for a living, or what
your education level is; this opportunity is available to you right now. Now is the best
time to get started.

In addition, once you spend the time to learn how to build a website the correct way that
drives loads of FREE traffic to it and earns you money, you have secured your financial
future forever. You can now build more moneymaking websites. In addition, other people
and businesses will pay you handsomely to build websites for them that really WORK.

You now have a moneymaking skill set that 99% of the rest of the world knows nothing
about.

Doug Allan Dammeier lives high up in the mountains in western Washington state,
U.S.A. and operates http://www.online-moneymaking-bootcamp.com, which offers loads
of free, honest, truthful information to beginners wanting to start their own online
business. He teaches what it really takes to succeed with this wide-open opportunity and
provides a step-by-step system with everything you need in one inexpensive package.
Personal FREE coaching is available on a limited, case-by-case basis, first come-first
served.

Working at Home: Not for Everyone

By Dan

Unless you have been living under a rock, you have probably seen some sort of advertisement for a home based online business. Was if for an e-book, or some "system" that will set you up to make big bucks, or something in between? The thought of making a lot of money online attracts a lot people. Most people just brush it off thinking it is a scam. However, a thought has been stuck in my mind for sometime; yes, earning a full time income from home would be nice. What if everyone did that?

Our economy would completely collapse if everyone tried to work from home with an online business. The people working 40+ hours a week developed the computer you are using to read this article. The servers that are hosting this website. The electronic parts that make up those servers. They possibly make much less, than the people who manage to make an income from an online business. Do not forget all those people running those stores where you buy your clothes, electronics, and food; not to mention the engineers and scientists working to make life better for people. Let's not forget everyone who works in the government, need I say more? In addition, that is just the tip of the iceberg.

What is the point of going to college if anyone can make their own online business? College is already expensive, and it will only become more expensive. All that time, money, and work spent for a degree, and all for what? Doctors spent their entire life to learn everything about medicine, only to leave their practice to run an online business. Give me a break. A savvy high school drop out could theoretically make more than the person who got perfect grades their whole life and got every award imaginable. In addition, our society needs those storeowners, scientists, workers, and everyone else out there working a job. It is how the whole system works and it is not changing anytime soon.

Of course, this is all hypothetical. Only a relatively small amount of the population is actually interested in running an online business full time. There are plenty of people working a full time job, and running a part time online business for some extra cash. Maybe they love their job, and the socialization that comes with working. When you work at home, the nice conversations, parties, meals, and hanging out with your co-workers is gone, for good. When you are someone who makes money without leaving your home, good luck finding new friends, when people are working hours and hours to make ends meet. However, if you make a lot of money all from the comfort of your own home, then who cares?

My point is that making a lot of money online would be a wonderful thing. However, you cannot just ignore the people out there with careers, the people working to make society better, the people trying to aid the needy, and everyone in between. If you really want to start your own online business, then go for it, and do your best to make it succeed. Maybe your job does not pay enough and you want some extra cash in your pocket. An online business would be a great way to make some more money. However, if you are just sort of iffy, do not quit your day job.

How to Reach More Customers Online

By Biana Babinsky

Many coaches, consultants, virtual assistants, solopreneurs, and online business owners may only offer two different items to their clients. One is a free subscription to their newsletter where they share tips, articles, and business news with their subscribers. The other item is one-on-one coaching or consulting service offered at the regular hourly rates.

If you only offer a free newsletter and a one-on-one service to your clients, you are losing customers. Some people simply cannot afford your one-on-one services at this time. Others may want exposure to your expertise at a cheaper rate, before trying your more expensive services.

So, how can you reach the people who are not ready for the one-on-one service, but are still interested in your expertise? You do that by creating products that you can sell in addition to the services you already offer. Here are several different products you can create for your business:

- Digital products. As a professional who works with customers, you already know what your customers' interests are. You know what problems they want to solve. Since you are the expert, you know how to solve these problems.

Turn this information into a marketable digital product by publishing and selling it. Depending on the topic and the information, you can create digital products of various lengths.

- Audio products can be delivered through two different channels. They can be instantly downloaded from your web site in a popular audio format (MP3, Wave, etc.), or you can burn them onto a CD and physically ship the product to the customer.

- Teleclasses and Teleseminars. Teaching classes over the phone is an excellent way to demonstrate your expertise to many people at once and to offer your coaching or consulting sessions at a lower price point.

Teleclasses are a great example of repackaging your knowledge and selling it repeatedly. Material taught and discussed during teleclasses can be reused to create special reports, e-books, and audio products.

- Workshops. Workshops (teaching classes in person) can be used to teach many people at once, instead of doing one-on-one sessions.

Start a list of products that you can create for your business. These products will help you reach a wider audience, increase your revenue, and promote your expertise. Your products are also a vehicle for landing speaking engagements, cross-promotional opportunities, and press spotlights, which in turn results in additional promotion to your business.

The Art of Closing Sales Online: 101

By Cheow Yu Yuan

There is research stating that potential customer follow-up occurs 5 to 7 times before closing a sale online. If you have just one page that pitches your product, it will not be good enough.

So how do you actually follow up with your potential customers online? Usually, most people get their potential customers to fill in their personal information; like full name and email address first

If you do not capture your potential customers' information, when they do not buy on their first visit to your sale page, you may lose the opportunity to contact them in the future.

So do not pitch your product right away. Tell your customers you have some free information or reports for them, and they will need to fill in their personal information to access or download them.

If your potential customers are interested, they will be willing to give you their personal information, as long as you guaranteed their privacy.

Observe, it will be extremely important to get their email addresses so you can fulfill the research statistic of 5 to 7 follow-ups before closing a sale online.

It is ok that they are not interested in a particular product, at present, you may be selling to them now. You can always sell them other products in the future, as long as you can contact them.

You can also further segment your mailing list into two groups. The first group is "Potential Buyers". The second group is "People who have already bought something from you".

The first group consists of your existing customers where repeat sales are highly possible. As for the second group, you know that you will have to persuade them more often in order for them to buy from you.

In this way, you can send two types of emails to target the two different groups to achieve the best-targeted results.

Inside the Mind of an Online Entrepreneur

By Dan

You see them on the internet everywhere. They try to flood your mailbox with advertisements. Their banners are flashing everywhere you look. They are the source of all those text ads you see. They are the people who make money from the internet, the people that run their own online home business. One can only wonder what goes through the heads of these characters.

These people are often haunted by the memories of working in the corporate world. In their past, they probably struggled to provide a living for themselves and their families. They worked long, hard hours, trying to make ends meet. Then finally, they had no choice but to turn to the internet to find a way to make a living. Maybe they lost their job. Maybe there was a nasty family problem. Alternatively, perhaps their job was not enough to pull them out of debt. In any case, the important thing is they were forced to venture into the world of online business.

Once one braves the journey of owning an online business, there is often no turning back. It is simply not economical to go into online business with minimal start-up capital and less than maximum effort. The successful people begin their journey with this mind set. They have no choice but to make their online home business succeed. Driven by the imperative to make money and provide food for their families, they work and research endlessly.

Some aspiring online entrepreneurs will inevitably falter and their business will be doomed to failure. No matter how intelligent those people are, they did something wrong. Maybe their mind was negative and clouded with thoughts of failure, which would almost certainly lead to failure. It is a possibility they simply did not know what they were doing. Perhaps they were doing things beneficial for their business, but not on a consistent basis. Often times, they were simply too impatient and bailed before the seeds of their business could even sprout.

Online entrepreneurs can occasionally be loners. They rarely get any support from friends, family, or anyone else close to them. They may be even ridiculed and laughed at for attempting to make money online. The people unsupportive to the online entrepreneur usually try to convince him or her that all those opportunities, books, and websites that advertise ways to make money online are scams. This can only serve to motivate the person even more to work hard to become successful, so that the negative people can be proven wrong.

The mind of an online entrepreneur is truly an enigma. It is a mystery of where they come from, but it is even more mysterious to wonder where they are going. Some are aiming for early retirement. Others want a nice long vacation they can only dream of taking. Maybe some just want some more spending money to complement their income. Whatever their goal may be, the truly successful ones will laugh in the face of danger and hunger for adventure.

Simple Yet Effective: The Splash Page

by Dan

Imagine this scenario: you cannot afford anything other than free advertising. You have a well-written sales letter, or a very nice looking site, but have a hard time trying to promote it. You try to advertise your site with traffic exchanges but with little success, if any. Your site even has a section to get visitors to sign-up for your mailing list, because you are smart and know the money is in the list. Nobody signs up for even that.

Sound familiar? Well you probably are in need of a splash page.

Simply put, a splash page is a page that a person can read and process in just a few seconds. It could be anything from a few words and a picture, to a flash animation, or any number of things. The important thing is that it grabs the reader's attention, and fast.

Why a splash page? Well if you show your reader some long, cluttered sales letter, the vast majority of your viewers will simply brush your site off and move on. They do not have the time to look at whatever your site has to offer. You may have the best, most eye grabbing headline thought of, but fact of the matter is, people do not have time to read your site fully, or they are simply too lazy. Either way, you can kiss that future sale/prospect/whatever goodbye.

I see this problem all the time in traffic exchanges: people are promoting sales letters, or big main sites, or something along those lines to people who are just surfing for credits. Most traffic exchanges only require a surfer to stay on a site for around 10-30 seconds. There is no way anyone could grasp what your site has to offer in that amount of time, and very few people will stick around to read your site fully.

A splash page eliminates this problem. A viewer can observe a splash page in its entirety in a minimal amount of time. Making it visually appealing is crucial, keeping it simple yet effective. A wise idea is to have a link for your visitor to sign-up to your mailing list. You have heard the phrase "the money is in the list" excessively, many times by now, and this would be a perfect opportunity to add targeted prospects to it.

It is so simple, yet so effective. Think about it: instead of a greeting with some long, cluttered sales letter, your visitors will see your splash page, which will grab their attention in an instant and make them want to see what you have to offer. Now do not get me wrong: if you make a visually unappealing splash page, or one that does not grab the visitor's attention in a fraction of a second, the visitor will probably brush your splash page off. However, that was obvious, wasn't it?

Using Traffic Exchanges Effectively

By Dan

If you want your online business to succeed, you have to advertise. There is absolutely no way around it. Unfortunately, for most aspiring online entrepreneurs, advertising on the internet is neither cheap nor easy. Many types of internet advertising do not even guarantee that anyone will visit your site. If there is one form of advertising that will guarantee visitors to your site, it is traffic exchanges. The question is; can you use them to their full potential?

I will not waste your time explaining how traffic exchanges work. I am sure you already know how they work. That aside, when you use traffic exchanges to build up credits/tokens/etc., people are viewing your site, also building up their own stash of page views for their own site. Consider traffic exchanges, will they bring you site visitors who are actually interested and read what your site has to say, or will they simply ignore it and keep clicking, focusing only on building credits?

The truth is most people could care less about your site. It does not matter how it looks, what you are offering, or anything like that. If you want to promote some long sales letter, or a product from some affiliate program, you can pretty much forget about using traffic exchanges. Traffic exchanges have a certain time limit on how long you must remain on a site before you gain a credit. The longest time limit I have ever seen is 30 seconds. Most people will not be able to fully read and comprehend a long sales letter in that amount of time. Even if you are not promoting some sales letter, and instead you are promoting your home page, which has pictures and banners and all sorts of stuff, you honestly cannot expect to convince some random person to buy something from your site in such a short amount of time.

I think I have said enough about using traffic exchanges ineffectively. The mistake most people on traffic exchanges make is they try to sell right away with their home page/sales letter/etc. They also do not seem to realize that every person on a traffic exchange is somebody trying to promote their website, and that everybody is trying to earn credits for page views.

In my opinion, the best way to benefit from traffic exchanges is by having a splash page that features an opt-in lead form for your mailing list. Personally, I advertise a splash page that offers a free e-book when people sign up for my mailing list, and it has worked quite well in growing my list. If you do not have a mailing list, you should at least have some form of a splash page that will captivate the viewer's attention and curiosity in an instant. If successful, a splash page can lead to people checking out your true site because they are curious, not because they are click-crazy.

A splash page is small, so the visitor will not have to scroll much while surfing the traffic exchange, if at all. In addition, it will not take very long to load in the traffic exchange. It is quite possible that if you promote a long site, the timer will run out before your site even loads on the visitor's browser. They still get a credit for surfing, but you lose a credit, even though the visitor did not see your site.

Now here is where things get interesting. There will always be people who do not know what they are doing on traffic exchanges. They will be the ones promoting long sales letters that nobody will read. Therefore, it is to your own advantage to build a splash page that will be eye-candy for visitors, and relieve them from the boredom of clicking through sites they have no interest in reading. With this in mind, traffic exchanges can be very beneficial and profitable for you, if you use them right.

Working for the Future

By Dan

Sometimes I wonder if my online home business is going anywhere. Am I doing anything right? Will it just become another one of my failures in life? I will admit, many times I have felt that I should cut my losses and move on. Then I consider why I am trying to succeed in making money online in the first place.

The idea of earning money from the internet has fascinated me for a long time. The thought of working on a computer to earn money to put in the bank, to buy whatever my heart desired, to help others, became a driving force to make it a reality.

Several years ago, I saw an infomercial with Chuck Woolery, on selling items on EBay, and that it could bring financial freedom. I researched at length on how to profit from EBay, and the idea of drop shippers, and wholesalers, and all that marketing mumbo jumbo. Unfortunately, that idea never got off the ground. Looking back, I guess it was too much for me to handle at the time.

Later, a Youtube video, showed a professional video gamer. It had his brand of computer and gaming hardware. (Look for "playing video games for a Living" on Youtube.)

He said his business would be a good way to secure his future now. Someday his hand-an-eye coordination and reflexes will not be as good. Now, he can make money doing something he loves.

I am a big gamer myself. I also realize that my quick thinking skills, eyesight, and reflexes will begin to decline someday. I will not be able to play as well as I did in my prime. I try to make money online in hopes that I will be able to help pay my way through life, and be able to make money by doing something I spend a lot of time doing, which is being on the computer.

Am I crazy for doing this? Probably. Am I foolish for doing this? Probably, even more so. Noticing that I have a sign up, is proof beyond all reasonable doubt, that it is possible to make a decent quantity of money through the internet. That's one more sign up towards my goal. It makes all the work I put into this all worthwhile. It could take months, maybe even years before I start making a generous profit, but it is from little acorns that big oak trees grow.

Multiple Streams of Income - Why You Need Them

By Hamish Hayward

One of the great things regarding the internet is things change so quickly. This is good; it allows new marketers to take advantage of novel trends and new developments. If you do not respond quickly to new market conditions, your business - and income - can be adversely affected.

That is why you need to have multiple streams of income - so that if your current top earner disappears off Google's radar or one of your many competitors introduces a new product that wipes the floor with your best offering, - you have other income streams to fall back on.

It is like buying stocks and shares - you want to have a diverse portfolio to avoid any sudden spikes and glitches in the market. Alternatively, put it another way - do not "put all your eggs in one basket."

Where are you going to find these multiple streams of income? Sometimes it can be difficult to find even one business opportunity worth investing your time, energy, and money in. The first logical place to look is the market.

It is not easy to get hold of hard data when it comes to marketing and often, when you do get some, they are well out of date. However, the figures below show the UK market percentages of directly sold goods for 2000, a year when the totals spent in this area was $2 billion. These figures were sourced from the UK Direct Selling Association and make for interesting reading.

SERVICES 32%
(telecoms, utilities)

PERSONAL 26%
(cosmetics, fragrances, skincare...)

FAMILY 17%
(Books, toys, games, business aids ...)

HOUSEHOLD 14%
(Security, water treatment, electrical...)

WELLNESS 7%
(Nutritional, diet plans, supplements)

FOOD 4%
(Frozen & other)

The size of the market may vary, and the relative positions may change - but the top five above will probably be able to provide consistently good income streams. The obvious omission from the above list would be online gaming, which is a relatively new phenomenon.

So how do you get started? Simple, pick one area and do some background research. Remember to use a logical approach when evaluating your options - the key areas to look at are; the company; the pay plan; the product; the level of administration; the sales methods available; and the cost - both start up and running.

If this is your first business, try to start with an opportunity that will provide you with residual income. Concentrate on only one business at a time. Work this until you get it to an acceptable level where it is growing without too much time input on your part. It doesn't need to be making thousands of dollars every month - it's easier to arrange for 5 businesses to return $1000 each, than it is to arrange that a single business will return $5000 a month (the law of diminishing returns).

When you are achieving consistent growth month after month, pick a business opportunity in a different sector and repeat the process. Then do it again - and again. Aim for at least three and preferably five solid businesses. Try to have at least 40% of your income as residual income - this is your baseline.

It will probably take at least 6 months, and possibly more, to get each business to the steady growth phase, but its well worth the effort. This will provide you with a diverse income, which will be stable and highly unlikely to be severely impacted by changes in market conditions.

If an opportunity arises in one particular area, you can focus on that for a period in order to maximize your profits. In addition, if there is a downturn in an , you can always use the income from the other sectors to weather the storm.

When you eventually have your multiple income streams online and they are all working well - always be on the lookout for any new opportunities to add to your business portfolio. You can never have too much of a good thing.

Make More Profits With a USP

by Larry Potter

What is A USP?

A USP is a unique selling proposition.

You MUST emphasize what makes you better than the competition. Let your customers know exactly how and why they will benefit from doing business with you, instead of someone else. Perhaps you offer a better guarantee than others do, or your service or product might cost less, maybe you offer special advice or knowledge that is not available anywhere else, or your customer service might be better than the competitions, or you might offer special incentives that no one else does.

The bottom-line, whatever your angle, when promoting your service or product is that you need to emphasize what makes you special or unique!

In addition, always give them information.

People search the internet for information, not to be sold something. They do not want to read a sales pitch.

You want to give each visitor to your home business site as much information as possible. When you take the time to educate them, you build credibility. Make your online business web site a valuable resource for your customers by giving them free tips and tools. This helps build your reputation while making your site one your readers will come back to, repeatedly.

This will help establish you as an expert in your field, knowledgeable, and trustworthy. In addition, once they trust you, they will buy from you!

One great way to provide information and establish credibility is with a free newsletter. Spinning graphics and neat colors will not sell your service or product---your copy will. One of the most important factors in determining the success or failure of your online home business is well-written, compelling copy. This will determine the success or failure of your online home business.

And never imply.

If you have an online home business, you should never imply what you want your visitors to do, rather you should explicitly state it. This is hard for some because they do not want to impose their wishes on anyone; they prefer to be polite. However, unless you are blunt with your visitors, you will see only mediocre or downright poor results.

Tell you visitor exactly what you want them to do, whether it be...

*Read an article

*Buy your product

*Subscribe

*Enter a contest

*Join your affiliate program

*Fill out a survey

*Click

Make sure you let them know!

Marketing experts have proven you will increase your home business sales by at least 80% simply by asking for the order.

Free Advertising for Lazy People

By Dan

If you are reading this, perhaps you are lazy when it comes to your online business. Alternatively, maybe you are not lazy; you just have a life and cannot commit yourself to your online business 24/7, or every free second you have. Whatever the case, time is not on your side, when it comes to working with your online business.

I will cut to the chase. One strategy is to place a link to your site in your signature in an online forum. I use this a lot. Much of my free time is spent online, lurking through message boards. Do not blatantly post on random forums in an attempt to advertise; this is considered spamming, and will probably get you banned from the forum. It will ruin your credibility and reputation with that group of people, and so you can kiss those potential prospects and sales good-bye. Whatever your business is about, there is a forum on the internet regarding it. I guarantee it. If your business is about internet marketing, then focus on forums about internet marketing. If your business is about online auctions, focus on forums that are about online auctions. You get the idea.

However, if you want to be daring, try advertising your MLM business in, say a video game forum, but good luck, you will need it. I have tried putting a link to my site in forums of my interests and expertise, but had nothing to do with business, without much luck. Make sure the forum allows you to advertise your site in your signature, first. Now post away, making sure you contribute to the nature of the board. This is critical, as you will appear to be an expert in whatever field you are in, and people browsing through will be more inclined to click the link to your site in your signature. That and every post you make creates a back link to your site, which is critical for search engine optimization.

Perhaps forum posting is not for you. Maybe you are a newbie, and would not be welcomed in internet forums, (people on some internet forums can be extremely vicious, and I have been on forums for too long to know that).

Another strategy you can use is to write articles! Many articles you read online are written by everyday, run of the mill, normal people. If you were smart enough to find this article, then you are smart enough to write a short article about any feature in online business. You do not have to write some 50-page essay or anything. When people look up information on the internet, they want it short, sweet, and to the point. Who has time to read some giant essay, when all they want is information about starting an online business? A good count range would be around 400-500 words, give or take. There are tons of article directories online where you can submit your articles. Just look up "article submission" on Google and see the hundreds of directories listed. You can get your own blog, and post your articles on it, as well.

I do all of the above and I am lazy as heck. A guru about online business is the last thing I am, and this took less than half an hour to write, so you should have no problem with article writing and blogging.

There are many, many other ways to promote your site for free and with little effort, but you know what? I am too lazy to list them all here. Assuming you actually read everything up to this point, you are more than intelligent enough to find your own ways of advertising. Just remember to work smarter, not harder, and in time your goal will be attained.

Do Not Buy What I Sell, Do What I Do to Sell You My Products or Services.

By Kyle Newton

When I first decided to make my living with online marketing, I fell for every scam on the internet. I also ran across many good pieces of the total package. Sifting through what was actually good and what was a rip-off was hard to distinguish. The reason this is true is that if you use just part of the total program, you get very limited results, if any at all. Online marketing is just like any other business, you must have all of the tools of the trade, and you must learn to use them.

Let us relate this to a car. You can have a complete car and lack just one simple component and the car is 100% worthless. If the gas tank is empty, it is worthless, if you have a full tank and are missing the spark plugs or injectors, the car is worthless. Lose the keys and the car is worthless. Starting to get the picture?

An online marketing genius gave the title of this article to me in 1999 at a convention in Las Vegas. I had inquired to the secret of his success and asked how I could get the same results. The title that made you read this article was a life changing statement for me as a new online marketer. I learned to research my competition on a new front. I was not there to look for some specific "secret" that some professional was keeping from the rest of the world and me. However, I learned to look at their total program, I tried to find as much out about the top companies in my field, as I could. Then I actually made purchases to go through the whole process to see the internal system; from web design, to marketing, to relationship management.

It is not as hard as you might think, to put the whole system together, and if you research, you may actually find out ways to improve and magnify the results.

I will give you one of my favorite ways to ethically spy on your competition. Just go shopping for the service or product that you wish to market.

There are many ways to put the total packages together; gather all of the tools, and anyone can do it. It is that simple, you just have to learn to see things in a different light.

Kyle Newton is a web design and ecommerce professional with 7 years of experience in the web development and internet-marketing field. He has developed total online presence systems and has helped establish many successful online businesses.

Use Free Clip Art on The Internet For Your Basic Design Needs

by Thomson Chemmanoor

Many sites on the internet will offer clip art for a price or for free. It is up to you to choose the right clip art for your site. Many people usually use the clip art that is available free. If you use free clip art, a high probability exists that some other site on the internet is using the same clip art. If you prefer something unique and special, it is better to pay for the clip art you intend to use on your website.

This clip art, alone, may not be sufficient for you to make your website interesting. It can form the base for your website designing needs, wherein you make some additions to create more interest for the visitor. Choose clip art that relates to your product or business. Correlate the clip art that people view and the idea you are trying to project, so they blend. Take some time to choose the appropriate clip art.

It is better to choose clip art that is not too large. Large clip art takes a longer time to download. Sometimes the visitor to your site will not have the patience to wait until the site downloads. You may lose instead of gain visitors with large clip art. Make sure the colors of the clip art do not clash with the background and font color of your site. There Placing clip art that clashes with your site loses its main intention and purpose. At times, the clip art will not be visible, wherein there is no point in placing clip art on the site.

Choosing to place clip art that is too bright or flashy, may draw the attention of the visitor to the clip art, and not to the information. People may not read what you have in your website; so all your efforts in creating that content go down the drain! The contrast of images and the words struggle with one another for the viewers' attention.

So if and when you do choose clip art, decide on the type of clip art you want, choose between a free or payment clip art, get clip art that matches with your site and content, and choose wisely so it will not clash.

Network Marketing - Ask Mr. Kipling

By Hamish Hayward

I kept six honest serving men,
They taught me all I knew.
Their names are What and Why and When
And How and Where and Who.

These well known lines by Rudyard Kipling offer sound advice for many situations in life. They can be applied, if you are thinking of getting involved in network marketing, or any other type of work at home business.

WHAT CAN I DO TO MAKE A PROFIT?

Simply put, you provide a product or service in return for money. Do not worry if you do not "have" a product - just get one from somebody else and then sell it, or get involved in an affiliate marketing system. Successful merchants have been doing this for thousands of years.

You do not have to make the product yourself. You do not even have to own it. You can simply sell it on someone else's behalf and then take a percentage of the profit.

If possible, try to market a product or service that is provided on a monthly subscription basis. That way you will get your percentage every month - residual income.

Do not get involved with any business that does not have a genuine product and which pays you for recruiting others into the business. This type of arrangement is characteristic of a pyramid scheme.

WHY CHOOSE NETWORK MARKETING?

Network marketing, coupled with the power of the internet, is ideal for a start-up business. No premises are required and there are no employees, so both start-up and running costs are very low compared to a traditional business.

The internet can be used for both selling and recruiting and many of the tasks associated with these activities can be automated using websites, autoresponders, email etc. You also have the ability to reach a worldwide market - the possibilities are endless.

Unlike many traditional small businesses, you can work your network marketing opportunity part-time to begin with. You do not need to give up your day job until you are ready, so the risk is very low.

WHEN IS THE BEST TIME TO START?

The sooner the better. Start-up costs are low and much of your initial outlay will be covered by money back guarantees. Your risk exposure is minimal.

However, if you already have some business experience, you should expect to be on a learning curve to start with. Do your research, pick a company with good training and support. Find a good mentor, and get going. The sooner you learn the tricks of the trade, the sooner you can start to build your business and make a profit. One thing's for sure - you will not make any money "thinking about it".

HOW DO I IDENTIFY THE RIGHT OPPORTUNITY FOR ME?

Do not sign up for an opportunity because it has a nice website or a good sales letter/email. Do investigate the six key criteria: Product, Cost, Company, Commission, Administration, and Sales.

Make sure that you are completely happy with each of these areas and you will avoid any nasty surprises.

WHERE SHOULD I SET UP SHOP?

Keep costs down by working from home. The power of the internet means you can tap into the world market working from your spare room in your pajamas. You can work offline if you want to use leaflets, brochures, direct mail, etc. - but do not limit yourself geographically.

WHOM SHOULD I BE WORKING WITH?

Obviously, you are the star of the show. It is your business and you will enjoy a much higher degree of autonomy than would be available in almost any job. You are not entirely isolated though, and finding the right people to work with is very important.

Pick a good company to work with. Ideally one that has been around for a while and which provides good training and support. Selecting the right company to collaborate with will significantly increase your chances of success and minimize the probability of being scammed.

Most scammers and con artists tend not to stick around too long. They make their money and then move on before they are caught - so choosing to work with an established company is always a good idea if you want to reduce risk.

Another key player is the person who recruited you or introduced you to the opportunity. They may be referred to as your "upline", "team leader", "sponsor", "mentor" etc. depending upon the company that you are working with.

This person does not need to be at the very top of the business. If they were, then they might find it difficult to find time to help you. However, they should be experienced and willing to help. Exchange emails with them, talk on the phone, and see how responsive they are. If they are not right for you, then you can always get involved in the same opportunity but with a different mentor.

Finally, you will build your own team or "downline". Try to be a good sponsor to your team members and help them out as much as you can. Remember - Just because you introduced them to the business, you are not their boss. Offer them advice and encouragement but do not forget they came into your opportunity to have their own business - just as you did.

Top Tips for Internet Marketing

By Richard Henderson

Benefits of Marketing Online

Marketing rules are the same no matter how big or small your business is: (1) brand your product, (2) determine whom your target audience is, (3) get the sales, and (4) establish repeat customers. Online marketing is very effective in managing all four of these rules.

Online Marketing Defined

The definition of online marketing is: Placing your business or product on the Internet for millions of users to access so you can turn your website into a strong tool to maximize your sales and business potential.

However, online marketing is much more than putting your advertising online. Marketing online includes such areas as communicating with your customers, promoting your business or product online, and making sure that your website content is useful and up to date. The great thing about online marketing is you do not need to have a huge budget to put together an effective marketing campaign. There are tools you can use to make your marketing techniques easy and profitable; such as, website templates, shopping cart templates, and online marketing templates.

What You Need for Online Marketing to be Successful

There are some important points to consider before you get into the strategies and intricacies of online marketing:

• Communication. An important part of online marketing is how you respond to your customer's e-mail. You do not want to lose potential customers after you have made the effort to have them visit your website and then contact you for more information. E-mail is a very effective and a cost efficient way for you to generate more sales. The key to this effectiveness is "consistency". You need to be consistent in your response to your customers. You will also want to make sure the tone of your e-mail corresponds with the tone you have set in your website content.

• Human Resources. If you are going to succeed online, you need to have enough people working with you. Efficient websites incorporate a personal touch with a fast response time to customers. Your goal is to turn the visitors to your website into customers. The standard time for a return e-mail is from 48 to 72 hours. If you wait any longer to e-mail back, you risk losing the customer. If you do not have the manpower to return e-mail in two to three days, you need to take another look at your marketing strategy.

• Products people want to buy online. Before you start marketing online, you need to be sure that you have a product or service that people want to buy. Customers need to find a value in what you are selling. There are two motivating factors when it comes to selling online: cost and convenience. Ask yourself if customers will find it easier to buy online than finding a local store. Is it cheaper for them to buy this from you online?

Home Business Work At Home Ways To Make Extra Money With Web Writing Jobs

By Regina Maniam

If you are looking to make extra money from a home business, web writing is an excellent option if you like writing. Question will be who will pay you to write. Fortunately, there is no shortage of job opportunities for a web writer. It depends on the extent of research you want to do and where you choose to look.

There are different categories of web writing. The amount you can get paid depends on whether you want to get credit for what you have written. It may be difficult to find many jobs if you insist on a byline. There are byline jobs if you look. However, web ghostwriters make the most money.

There are companies and individuals who constantly need content for their websites to attract readers to their site. There are many people who do not like writing, which leaves open a great opportunity for people who are looking for 'work at home' business opportunities to make extra money.

As a freelance ghostwriter, you will provide the writing services for clients who will use your writing as their own. Ghostwriting is one of the lucrative 'work at home' ways to make extra money from home, especially, if your focus is on web writing.

For you to start web writing, all you need is an Internet connection, email address and a word processing program. Having your own Website will add a touch of professionalism, but it is not necessary. You can get plenty of work without a Website as long as you can provide good original content.

Clients will have different requirements. There are clients who will request content for their current or new websites. You need to write in an engaging and clear style for those who visit the Website. There are article writers who concentrate on providing articles for newsletters, blogs, ezines, and article submission to directories, as well as, Website content. Typical articles for the web are between 400 to 800 words each. If articles are any longer than that, the readers may drift away. If shorter than 400 words, it may not have sufficient content.

The other category of writing, which needs quite a different skill besides writing, is copywriting. Copywriters write copy for Internet sales letters and marketing sites. This can be very lucrative if your sales page can convert into a lot of sales. The better the conversion, the more you can demand for your services.

Ebook ghostwriting is another 'work at home' way to make extra money. In this case, ghostwriters provide full-length books on topics that are requested by their clients.

When writing for the 'work at home' as a business to make extra money, it is important to be professional. Make sure that all your writing is spell-checked. Establish a professional email address and specifically use it only for your writing business. Your first and last name or a combination will make a good choice as your web writing business email address.

There is a difference when you write for the Internet, as compared to when you wrote essays in school or writing for a print magazine. Attention span of online readers is short. You need to keep your sentences short and paragraphs clear.

When doing web writing, you will need to focus on "keywords". The client chooses these keywords for use in the article. These keywords are very important. They are Internet search terms, and your clients want their websites to show up when people search for these terms.

When you write articles, you will be required to use the keyword or key phrase a certain number of times within the article. This can be quite a challenge as your article can sound forced. Experienced web writers have found creative ways on how to include the keywords naturally into their articles.

Web writing is one of the lucrative home business 'work at home' ways to make extra money. Once you have done a few web-writing assignments, you can then decide which type suits you best. You will then be ready to find more work by writing for message boards, classified adsites like craigslist, and freelance writing job websites. When applying for a job, remember to include a few of your well-written writing samples and your contact information.

3 Simple Strategies To Build Your Home-Based Business Faster And Easier

By Laurie Hayes

One of the biggest mistakes new home-based business owners make is trying to do everything from square one.

You can rest assured that whatever you are attempting to do or build, it has already been done.

Sure, it probably won't be a mirror image of what you're doing, but it will have many of the same basic ingredients.

The fastest and easiest way to get your business going and growing is by finding others who have already done what you want to do; then learn and benefit from their efforts.

A local businessperson recently told me he was in the process of building an auto responder. Of course, this wouldn't be a strange thing to do if it was a service he plans to sell, but it has nothing to do with his business!

Instead of investing a few hours to explore those auto responders already in existence, he is investing well over a hundred hours trying to build one on his own so he can communicate with his customers.

By only conducting a couple of hours research, he would have discovered a variety of outstanding, affordable auto responder services, which are highly sophisticated and subject to continual upgrading and improvement to keep up with ever-changing technology and consumer needs.

Imagine the kind of business he could have generated for himself, if he focused those one hundred plus hours, acquiring new customers for his business and expanding and improving on his products and services!

Unfortunately, like him, many new home business owners still have the employee mindset -- that they have to work relentlessly and do everything alone.

They have not yet developed the entrepreneurial mindset that understands you have to work smarter, not harder.

Another time-consuming task many new business owners take on is spending hours, even days, trying to design the perfect logo. I'm embarrassed to say I spent DAYS searching the Internet for sample logos, looking for ideas, and then sitting and drawing possible logo after logo.

Most people have more creative flair in their big toe than I have in my entire body, yet I thought that if I put enough time into it, even though it meant not focusing on increasing business, the perfect logo would reveal itself.

I eventually abandoned the obsession and as soon as I handed the project over to my web designer, I had a new, effective and eye-catching logo within 24 hours.

It was a costly mistake. I had spent so many years working in a support capacity that I did not know how to make the shift to a leader capacity and delegate the task.

(Even more important, I later realized, having a logo is 'waaaay' down on the priority scale and does not even have to be considered during the start-up period.)

As you start your business, consider the following tasks and ask yourself if someone else could be doing them while you focus on building:

- designing brochures and marketing material

- creating your web site

- setting up your voice mail and e-mail

- purchasing supplies and equipment

- stuffing envelopes and taking them to the post office, or delivering flyers

- market research

- hooking up your new computer, modem, fax and installing software

- trouble shooting computer problems

- writing articles, reports, or white papers

These are not revenue generating activities and if you find them challenging or time-consuming, delegate these tasks to someone else like a family member, co-op student, or part-time assistant.

For the more specialized items, seek the input of a mastermind member or business colleague on how they handle those responsibilities. Also, hire or barter with experts in marketing, web design, and technology.

Another wheel you do not need to re-invent is that of processes, particularly in the area of marketing.

Marketing may not be your forte, yet it is the most important element of your business. This is where many new home business owners bury themselves.

The good news is you do not have to develop your marketing process by trial and error.

Commit several days to studying other businesses both in and outside of your industry.

How do they promote themselves? How do they collect leads? How do they convert leads?

In other words, how do they catch the attention of potential customers, get them to express an interest to learn more, and how do they get them to ultimately pull out their wallets and buy?

The quickest and easiest way to create winning processes is to study already successful businesses, then model what they do.

Sign up for their newsletters and request additional information. Let them begin a courtship with you and pay attention to what they are doing. Buy a product or two and see what tools they use to keep inviting you back for more.

This does not mean copy them word for word or action by action, but assimilate what works, mould it to your specific business, and add the essential ingredient of uniqueness that allows you to stand out from the crowd.

These are just three simple strategies you can start with today to get on the fast track to home business success.

Again, here they are in a nutshell:

1. Uncover what has already been created or invented, then implement or install. Do not reinvent the wheel.

2. Think like a business owner, not an employee. Delegate, hire, or trade.

3. Model the processes of others who have already achieved the level of success you are seeking. They have already made the mistakes for you and know what works.

Incorporate these strategies and you will shave hours and dollars from your start-up curve and begin reaping the rewards faster than you ever thought possible.

Merchant Account Payment Processing

Author unknown

The advent of e-commerce opened up huge opportunities for small and medium businesses to give the big players a run for their money. This is because e-commerce has placed the products and services of even the smallest businesses, like home-based business, in front of consumers all around the world. Of course, this opportunity does not come without the conscious effort from the business owner. They need to ensure that their business will be trusted and will be able to fulfill its commitment to the public.

What are the requirements of a business to become successful in the cyber world?

1. High-quality product
2. Advertise products
3. Ensure order fulfillment
4. Payment flexibility

The above requirements need to be in place and done in real-time. If you have dependable products, able to market your products well, and have order fulfillment infrastructure in place, then you have won half of the battle. The next half will be the availability to accepting payment in different forms. Setting up merchant account payment processing is, therefore, a necessity. This is because you may not succeed in the modernity offered by e-commerce if your business cannot accept other types of payments.

Available non-cash merchant account payment processing:

· Electronic benefits transfer
· Gift cards or purchasing cards
· Tele-check
· PIN-secured and signature debit
· Major credit cards

If your business can process payments in a variety of formats, then you are on your way to becoming successful in your business, long term. In the past, businesses have limited themselves to accepting payments the traditional way; they only accept checks and cash. This has limited their growth. The birth of Internet Credit Card Processing has helped merchants grow their businesses as they never thought possible. To help your business grow fast, you therefore need to establish a merchant account and start accepting credit card and other non-cash transactions on-line.

The Internet offers a treasure trove of information on setting up your merchant account. We recommend that you shop around before you finally select your merchant account that will help you process customer payments easily and ensure that your business will be able to grow efficiently. When you finally set up your merchant account, and are now open to payment processing in all forms, you need to go back to the basics.

Check how wide you are advertising and marketing your products. Because you already have the capability of processing payments through your merchant account, you need to ensure that your business and your products reach as many Internet users as possible. Being able to link to as many websites, other than your own, will help you advertise your products well. Affiliate programs may also be helpful. In the cyber world, the more affiliates you have, the more you will gain from this modern way of marketing.

Founded in 1988, FDIS is an established leader in the transaction processing industry. FDIS has one of the highest merchant approval rates in the industry. Whether opening a new business or expanding an established one, we provide flexible and reliable products and services that enable merchants across the United States to accept nearly all types of electronic payments.
Don't You Quit...Motivating The Affiliate Marketers

By A Allen

You have decided that you may have come to the end in your hard working career and "going for it" on the net. It's been a few years and you have yet to make the money that you read about, hoped for, and dreamed about. The wife tells you "well, at least you tried..." The kids continue their interruptions never becoming used to you actually working on the pc, rather than playing games. Frustration has packed a tent and camped on your shoulders. What was it? Why is it you tried promoting each and every product as if they were you own. Why!! Relax. I have a bit of news for you and it's all good.

True story, about a year ago I found myself extremely frustrated. I was not doing so badly in life, I just wanted more. I wanted to live not from check to check, but to have a bit of money in the bank where I did not have to worry about getting to the bank before the mortgage check hit. I wanted to be able to take a vacation to somewhere other than the same fifty-mile trip we took year after year. I was not asking for a handout, I was truly working at it. There were days that I put in twenty hours between my outside job, you know the one where I got a check, and my "own business" where I seemed to work and work and have little profit.

I stuck with the affiliate marketing. After an up and down on the EBay train, I thought the shipping and feedback stuff was a bit too much. With affiliate marketing I had the best of all worlds, I get paid and would not have to touch a thing. Oh yeah, I would put all my concentration into affiliate marketing. I did some research and decided to go with a reputable product. I did some research and felt pretty confident about what I was marketing. Well, needless to say after some hard work, I made about $300 in a month's time, not a shout, but it was better than nothing.

While surfing for ideas to promote and be more effective I came across hundreds of products and much of them seemed to be like me, marketing something for someone else. I took my time and selected one. It was seemingly smart. I read the course and felt confident about the first few pages. After about a day of reading and highlighting I put the system to work. Through the system tactics I made $122.00 for the month. Wait a minute! I made almost two hundred less, not including the twenty dollars I paid for the program and forty dollars for add on material. I wasn't happy.

I went back to the system I was using. I figure I made $300, perhaps, if I practiced this system better, I could do better. I repeated what I did the month before, but did so with a bit more aggression and yep here it is I made $377.00. Ok, something is right.

Yet, while I was happy, what was it I was missing? It was like setting the mousetrap, but not catching the mouse. Was the cheese to hard, the peanut butter to moist? So I re-read the program and found something I thought I was missing. My third month of dedication to my working system was the baby I was waiting for! I made a profit of, get this $2872.00! Yeah! The kids do not bother me now! Wife says, "Are you going to work in your office, home office mind you. I felt great!

It has been ten months and some days since I found out what it was that was keeping me from making the profits you can make with Affiliate Marketing. I average $4300 a month and just booked a family trip on an Alaska Cruise, I won't know how to act. I invite anyone to my site, rn3k.com, quite simple and yes it stands for how I achieved my success. I stand by what I do 100% and assure you that if you follow these steps, I mean really follow them, you, too, will find that affiliate marketing is probably the most honest and effective method of making money online. Good luck.

Million Dollar Idea Maker.

By Gary Durkin

(c) Copyright 2005 - All Rights Reserved worldwide.

We have all seen some fantastic products, services or systems, which are incredibly hot profitable money-spinners, and many of us have often wished we had thought of it first.

However, just where do the ideas come from? How do the creators come up with the products and concepts?

Surely, it is based on massive research and development, huge capital investment, public scrutiny, market assessment -for starters.

WRONG! While the above may be true of some products, services, systems, ideas, and so on, the absolute best do not involve such in-depth planning - far from it.

Let me reveal to you the secret of how some of the hottest, biggest, and best, ideas are conceived, and how some of the most successful ever product ideas, were positively the simplest.

Do not get me wrong, product testing and market analysis is still very important, but completely pointless until you have clambered over the initial hurdle of 'thinking up' a product.

Let us look at a couple of brilliant examples of a product, which is a worldwide name and multi-million dollar profit centers,

First, everyone knows about Duracell Batteries. How they came from nowhere, and trounced the competition, virtually overnight.

Was it because their batteries were better than the competition? No, not really; not in general terms. The marketing people behind Duracell came up with not one, but TWO pieces of absolute sales and marketing brilliance.

First, they looked at the competition, the market place, the mode and method of battery sales then compared their product side-by-side with other leading batteries. It seemed their battery was just as good as the rest, or at least as good as the market leader.

In the marketing world, trying to sell a product based on "It's just as good as the rest" - does not really work.

They needed an EDGE.

During comparative product testing, it revealed the Duracell was in fact, better than the leading battery, in a particular way. They had discovered that Duracell batteries lasted longer, much longer than the others... during 'continuous use'.
EUREKA! That was it! They had found their edge, the marketing angle, the secret weapon.

So now, we all know that .... "Duracell lasts longer any other battery during continuous use "...

They had found a NICHE in the battery market... 'Continuous use'.

Why is this so important? Simple, most people who use products which require batteries, seldom actually use the product (and therefore the battery) for long periods, i.e. continuous use - but rather use them in shorter, regular periods - like flash-lights, electric door-bells etc.

That was of little importance - they marketed heavily on the 'lasts longer' concept - with the funky little Duracell Bunny going on, and on, and on... and on...

Duracell was misleading no one - they were completely truthful in their advertising, and with it, became a virtual household name overnight.

HOWEVER - they also wanted a second scoop of the market, and devised yet another unbelievably simple, but very effective concept... of gigantic proportions. What was it? Sell the batteries in PACKS! Simple and Brilliant!

Many readers may not recall, but before today's multi-packs, batteries sold loosely, separately, and individually. If you wanted just one - you went to the local store, and purchased just a single battery.

Now, Duracell decided to sell in multi-packs. It was the only way to buy their new batteries. No singles, period! Instead of selling one at a time, they sold FOUR at a time. Battery for battery, against the competition, they blew them away.

The multi-packs have another great result. Some products, which require batteries, needed perhaps just one, or maybe three batteries, leaving an odd number of batteries left in the pack for future use. Next time the consumer needed to replace the used batteries in the product, they went to the drawer, and noticed perhaps there were 'some' Duracell batteries left, but not enough. Therefore, the consumer had to purchase more, and if they had already looked at Duracell's, and had some Duracell's left to use up, what are they likely to buy?

You get the idea.

This is a perfect example of taking something which already exists, and remodeling it, re-branding it, re-marketing it, finding a niche for it - and away you go.

Look at the music industry. It is rife with similar concepts, which make millions. Bands, groups, singers, performers.... often do 'cover versions' - that is they will copy a song or track previously done by another artist.

Sometimes music is a 'fusion' - a mix of existing styles, but blended together to create something new. What about the concept of 'sampling' for example; you take a beat, rift, chord, chorus, few lines, track, from another artist, and remix it to create something different.

All they have done is to use something that already exists, make a few changes, amendments, alterations, improvements - and RESELL IT.

Unless you can reinvent the wheel, or perfect 'cold fusion' - the World is jam packed full of existing markets, products, systems, services, concepts, ideas and customers - all of which can be used as your drawing board to get started.

First, where do you locate great concepts?

Look around. What do you like? What do you dislike? Can you take a hot product and improve it? Can you take a mediocre product and develop it? Can you take a useless product, and turn it in something better? Listen to what others say.

Can you re-package something, bundle it, deliver it differently, and Re-brand it? Find a different, untapped market for a product, which already exists, and must focus on a different customer-base.

Can you add more value, more options, better support, or service?
